It's an impressive win by a horse shipping halfway around the world and running his first race off a four or five month layoff. The naysayers will say he didn't beat anything, but Broome has posted a 121TF and Skalletti came in on a 4-race winning streak, has beaten Sottsass and finished ahead of Magical, albeit at his preferred distance of 10F. The time was not fast, but it was a bit faster than Teona ran in beating Snowfall over the same course and distance. Deep Bond is far from the best in Japan at 12F, but he's been racing at longer distances, ie, 2M and 1M7F in his most recent races, and that's probably what you want when switching from those pool tables to these testing courses and running 12F. He's not the likliest Arc winner by any means, but to dismiss him entirely would be a mistake. At the least, one should expect that he will lead or press the pace, ensuring that it becomes a test of stamina.
@@vincentfalsaperla Without a doubt, and you could throw in several more. If Chrono Genesis does come for the Arc, he should be among the favorites. I see a lot of comments about Japanese horses failing in the Arc. They've been unlucky, IMO, not to have won at least one. They take the worst of it when they come to Europe. You always take the worst of it when you ship overseas, but it's magnified when you're used to running on flat, firm tracks attempting to win at Longchamp in October when the track is nearly always deep. It's been about 15 years since a European shipper won in the Japan Cup, and most of those who have tried have been beaten very soundly. It's always a tall order to take on the best on their home ground. This one might not be quite up to pulling a major surprise in the Arc, but from a betting POV, he offers some value. He will be long odds. He's proven over the course now, and his form in Japan suggests that he will stay 12F without much problem.
@@controlleddemolition9112 If you watch the dubai race chrono genesiss should have beating hands down mishreff. thanks to osin murphy's ride on the third horse in that race who smashed Chrono all the wy down the straight. in saying that the epsom derby winner could be something else?
@@vincentfalsaperla I've been "touting" Japanese form for a long time. I think it's the best in the world if you consider all distances from sprint to staying races. European form over the middles distances is right there with them, but I think there might be more "depth" in Japan -- ie, more good horses. Chrono Genesis is just one of many good middle distance horses, and he would have won in Dubai with a clean trip. Loves Only You, the other Japanese horse in that photo finish, is also very good. The "white wonder", Sodashi, is good. Uberleben is very good. Shariyar, Contrail, Daring Tact, Curren Bouquet d'Or and the world's best miler, Gran Alegria. The list goes on and on. Deep Bond is clear cut below them, but when you're trying something like shipping to Longchamp in October, that can be a great equalizer. The one who takes to the undulating, deep going might outrun his betters. As for Adayar, I'd like to see more. He could be something else, but his reputation is built upon only two smashers. He looks to be a bit "one-paced", so it will be interesting to see how he performs when or if he has to quicken. His stablemate, Hurricane Lane, does appear to me to have a turn of foot and his last three were stylish, but he hasn't beaten much to date.
@@controlleddemolition9112 I agree with your assesments.I also think the japanese horses are very close to the best horse flesh on the planet....so many good ones and they are built like giants in their frame and consitution...A very interesting race the arc this year.
