22:04 Anwar Maqsood and Ashfaq Ahmad were the most prolific writers/broadcasters during the Zia era when the real intellectuals were banned, exiled and even received lashes. This shows you how revolutionary they really were.

Its largely because of the difference in system and power hierarchy in 2 countries. India abolished the feudalism (introduced by British to reward their loyalist), whereas in Pakistan these same feudals became part of the ruling class. Sindh in Pakistan is in the claws of same feudal lords for last 78 years and this is the main reason for the condition of the ordinary Sindhis anywhere in Sindh (apart of Karachi, which had an influx of educated and professional population from India.)
Ironic is that after all this suffering the Feudal Bhutto is still alive in minds of these Sindhis. Yet some are trying to find a reason to blame others for their dire state.

In Pakistan their criticism is all about the wrong history and their identity crisis which they observed after reading books but in India we talk more about the subjects for which these people may get blaspheme cases against them. Fundamentalist exists everywhere but intensity matters...

Thankyou shehzad for speaking on mdcat. This year Mdcat taken by Iba was 100% fair and it was a big achievement. The other thing is that people from tharparkar and mithi are very hardworking and academically intelligent. I have came to give university entrance exams in Karachi many times and I have seen more thari/ dhatki people there than urdu speaking giving competitive exams. So this scenario against sindhis is just racist. But Karachi also had good number of mdcat toppers as 10 out of 100 is very good according to population ratio. Also Karachi has alot of other opportunities. It has many universities so many people consider studying in those universities. Nowadays I think urban people have started taking IT and Computer science path more than mbbs.

@ThePakistanExperience It's true that Sindh is not PPP, and politics has shaped our perception. But we must address the prevailing corruption in Sindh and work together to resolve it. I usually avoid commenting on RUclips, but this issue is very close to my heart. I recently encountered yet another systematic normalization of corruption and bribery in a very important government department/organization. If someone wants a shortcut and pays a bribe, I don't mind (though I should). But the real tragedy is that if someone tries to follow a transparent and formal process, their case/file simply doesn't move past certain desks.

Hello! I am a huge fan of yours and your work against extremism, discrimination, caste issues, genocide, religious intolerance, and honor killings. It is truly inspiring, and I have learned a lot from it. Regarding today’s topic, as Anwar Maqsood showing some points about Sindh, I don't think they are wrong, because I don't know much about Sindhi people. However, I do know a person whose business was connected to corruption where government jobs and bribes were involved. Their Friend who involve in false appointments on Govt Posts keep the black money in their accounts and they run business with that money. A few years ago, cases were filed against them, and now they have nothing left. I am not saying everything is wrong, but if you look closely, what has been done for Sindhi people in Sindh? If we focus on them, Anwar Maqsood is right. However, if we look at the real middle and lower-class Sindhis, they are truly oppressed. I personally wish to do something against all this, but Allah has given you the strength, and I really appreciate that.

It sounds more of a straw man fallacy as he also made jokes on urdu speaking people such as bihari or indian Hyderabadi etc. Even though that should be condemned in totality but not of your lens. And being mohajir is superior or being urdu is superior has world of difference in Pakistan or Sindh. Urdu is used to get powe at national level by non Urdu speakers whereas a mohajir has never been a CM in its own province of Sindh in last 75 years, all government jobs in Sindh belong to Sindhi speakers and on top of it there is regressive job quota system to support who rule Sindh. It is somehow underneath real racism which is being pointed out by Anwar Maqsood in a wrong way.

@f.50 In world mostly quota allocates on the basis of population or who are suffering more. Liaqat Ali introduced quota is true but for mohajirs (REFUGEES) who left everything. NED quota is of population based ie city/province/country formula which is same across Pakistan. Whereas in Sindh quota is exclusively designed on Urban/Rural divide which is problematic. And Liaqat Ali was killed within 4 years and everything finished. While Bhuuto introduced quota that still exists after 45 years of his hanging.

He has consistently advocated for freedom of expression and respectful discourse, which I 100% agree with. That said, I feel there’s a fundamental issue with the timing of his recent content. It appears to align with the establishment’s narrative, which is concerning. Drawing a parallel from history, it feels akin to someone in the 80s criticizing Bhutto for nepotism and economic policies (nationalization, etc) while overlooking the oppressive impact of Zia’s regime and its lasting damage to society. Context matters, and I believe timing and balance are crucial in such discussions.

Thank you for this Shehzad. A very important and tough conversation we need to do.
I am an Indian-Pakistani who came to Pakistan after getting married in 1990. First visited Pakistan with my family as a kid in 1977. My parents were shocked how even Marhoom Moin Akhter making fun of Bengalis in video which was such a shock. But Pakistanis thought it was funny. Then when married to a decent Pakistani, I saw how people were classed into Bihari, Bengali, Sindhi, Paindu etc. in derogatory terms. For the first time I was stereotyped as a Dilliwali ( because I came from Delhi) and hence I wore deep necks. LOL.
This mindset my father identified with Aligarians who had in India this tendency to mock all other muslims except those who were educated in AMU.
Then in Pakistan I saw people calling West Indians as Kaali Andhi. However, this antiblack racism is far worse in Indian side of the subcontinent. Indians now make a mockery of Pakistanis as badly as Pakistanis mocked Bengalis. Its not just mockery, they bully too.
The mockery that Punjabi stage dramas make on women, or the marginalized is as pathetic.
Another important FALSE stereotyping is that all Sindhis are PPP, all Urdu speaking are MQM loyals, all Punjabis are PMLN and all Pathans are PTI.
I can go on and on....
Bottomline: All of us in the subcontinent are racist and we think we are the best culture. LOL.

Flawed argument about satire qualifying as satire only if it is about the majority because majority is synonymous to power.
With that argument, pre - independence, British jokes about Hindu or Muslim practices would be just satire. The British were never a majority in India during their 200 year rule.
Satire is speaking truth to power. Charlie Hebdo was satire because they knew that islamic extremists will get to them. In India, making jokes about muslims will be satire because it's done putting aside the 'Sar Tan se Juda' (beheading) consequences.
Did you miss the All India Bakchod Roast where they had to take it all down because Christian minority made life threats to all the comedians even though there were plenty of Hindu jokes too?
The definition of satire is the ability to make jokes regardless of the threats or the violent repercussions that try to silence you. It doesn't matter if they come from a majority or a violent minority.

It’s also true that Sindhis as a group, are often perceived as less industrious compared to other Pakistanis. If you were to subtract the wealth generated by Karachi from Sindh’s GDP, the remaining figure would be essentially zero. I have nothing against Sindhis, actually I admire them for their tolerance and secular outlook qualities that stand in contrast to their northern counterparts.
The contributions of the Bohra, Memon, and Khoja Muslims from Karachi and Gujarat to the creation of Pakistan and the economic development of the newly established country are unparalleled. Shahbaz bahi, I love the way you explained the social construct of identities and opinions about other classes, races, ethnicities and communities in Pakistan. I hope that people will gradually become aware of how state authorities use its machinery to influence or propagate its narrative by utilizing these marionettes. More power to you.

Thanks shazad , to begin this awareness, how the writers spread hatred against different nationalities in the cover of being an intellectual , long time ago we watched this episode of bengali character moeen akhtar played 😢with black faced makeup it makes me cringed now not at that time but i remember it was not funny either to make me laugh. I watched Anwer Maqsood programs for last many many years you are right he has built in hatred for sindhi nation and their language may be the backlash of PPP government which had highly educated sindhi in the cabinet as well some less educated influential rich people but that doesn't give him right to humiliate the entire nation. Keep up the good effort to rise awareness against demagoguery.❤

I LOVE your humour you're the BEST critic ❤❤ I want to spill some of my opinions... Yes, it is necessary to call out our elders on what they have messed up but at the same time do not forget they didn't get the amount of exposure we've they've seen poverty and hunger and so many other things which we can't even imagine... The more I grow the more I feel less hate towards people every one had their own story...
One day some one might criticise your opinions on this platform life goes on... 😊😊 I feel light after watching all of you syed muzamil or Junaid akram

If It is not possible for a student from Tharparker to top in MDCAT, then please check how many student from Tharparker secured international scholarships in last few years. I hope PPP is not supporting them to secure these scholarship.

This is why I think Rangeela is a far superior comedian, in addition to his super talents in direction, singing, scriptwriting, and production. He made fun of himself instead of poking fun at others.

Who remembers Moin Akhter's joke on bangali when he says " Janwar hum ko dekh ke hansta hai"
Moin Akhter was problematic just like Anwer Maqsood.

What about the stereotypes against Urdu-speaking? "Gutke khanay wale", "Altaf Hussain supporter" and that "paipsi" accent. Aren't you biased Sindhi Supermacist?

Love you Shehzad Gias for making video on such much-needed topic that could potentially reduce your fan following. Hats off You Bro.
Sindhis are made abuse mainly because of PPP. This was a propaganda against PPP by Establishment after 80s to bring down PPP mass support. For this Urdu Intelligencia and Urdu media were Used.
Though Sindhi Supported PPP till 2000 But that PPP was secular, democrat and leftist. It deserved that support.
Now the scenario is different Sindhis as majority don't Support PPP, PPP wins due to someother factor. It is Establishment primarily responsible for PPP Victory in Sindh, then weak Opposition also helps PPP, alongside Bureaucracy also favours PPP. However, On public level there is strong criticism and opposition to PPP bad governance.
Kindly inform Urdu speaking community about Political history and Activism from 1900 to 2000. Be it struggle against Ayub khan, be it anti one unit movement, MRD, resistance against Military rule or resistance against Extremism Sindhis have played crucial role. Don't make abuse of whole ethnicity keeping PPP bad governance in mind. This is racism.
    Long Shehzad❤

We have been divided and collided with each other systematically since Pakistan came into being. Read Surkh Feetay from Qudratullah Shahab. It is only serve the agenda of hegemonic/establishment. Hats off to you for explaining the real issue in a very simple and easy way, may people would ponder and understand.
