This is heartbreaking he was a role model he served his country you he did all the right things and he is dead

As the mother stated, the military has been her rock. She said she wouldn't have made it without the support of the military from all levels. I salute the military.

RIP my fellow Airman thank you for your service to this country and I pray that accountability prevails. Another instance where law enforcement had no clue who they were dealing with. It is just insane how jumpy and irresponsible some Cops are. I would not want to be in his shoes for nothing in the world.

The focus seems to be on the fact Airman Fortson **was indeed Alone** inside his apartment. I haven’t heard or read hardly ANY comments on why it’s been reported he was Arguing with someone in his apartment 🤷🏽♀️

A totally pointless and unnecessary loss.
This anger and saddens me. How many of our men and women in this country keep getting killed at the hands of police officers who have this quick feeling of fearing for their life. When a weapon is in a downward position pointing at the ground is not a threat with your finger off the trigger resting in the side of the gun. Many officers rush to quick judgment decisions resulting in excessive use of daily force. Hopefully this family get the proper justice.

JUSTICE FOR ROGER
As a fellow veteran, I am deeply saddened and troubled to hear about the senseless killing of Senior Airman Roger Fortson by police in Florida. Airman Fortson bravely served our country, only to lose his life needlessly to police violence here at home. It fills me with grief to see yet another Black servicemember, who dedicated his life to our nation, die in this way.
Incidents like this are a sobering reminder that even those who wear the uniform are not immune to the systemic racism and injustice that continues to plague policing in America. It shows how far we still have to go to root out bias and brutality in law enforcement, and to ensure that every person, regardless of the color of their skin, can expect fair treatment and due process.
My heart goes out to Airman Fortson's family, friends and fellow Airmen as they cope with this devastating loss. I stand with them in mourning and in the continued call for meaningful reform, increased accountability, and justice. Senior Airman Fortson's service and sacrifice will not be forgotten. We must honor his memory by working to build a society where tragedies like this no longer occur, and where every person's life, dignity and humanity is equally valued and protected.

The video sets you Free! A homeowner, resident or American Citizen or Soldier has the right to have their gun on them and defend themselve in their own Home or if they feel threatened in State Of Florida. I am so saddened and so very sorry to see a young Patriot Military man who defends our COUNTRY gunned down in this video. This Deputy was most likely fearful for his life. But there should been a command drop your gun before unloading all his bullets to a man who had this gun by his side and in his own home! God Speed to Mr. Roger Fortson. USN RET

Having a weapon, does not deem worthy of an execution. The thought of maiming or crippling the individual would at least give Roger the opportunity to learn some lesson and also give the opportunity to explain his side of the situation. This was wrong!
The lady said there’s a disturbance what if he is also aware of the same disturbance? He was on guard due to flight or fight mode.

When the officer arrived at the door. This officer was constantly moving back and forth in front of the door. It appears the young man may have not seen the officer. Because of the officer was moving quickly. The young may have been suspicious who was at the door. He legally armed himself. It appeared that some point the young man was convinced that it was a law enforcement officer at the door. He casually opens the door. He may inadvertently forget to place his weapon away. It appears by the information presented that the police officer came to ((wrong address)). Home invaders have been known to impersonate the police. An Airman of the United States Airforce. Highly respected by his peers was properly trained on how to use firearms and he would be the last individual not to follow the legal commands from a law enforcement officer. Police Officers are trained in a certain manner on how to announce themselves when there at someone's home. This police officer did not follow his training. How do I know this. I was a police officer and now I'm retired. You have a nice day.
