  • Can a dominant side of your brain dictate your personality. LOGICAL vs CREATIVE? The Theory goes that if you are more creative and artistic then you are ‘right-brained’ and if you’re more methodical and better with numbers then you are ‘left-brained’. But how does the brain really work?

I am a brain surgery patient. Throughout all the various times I talked to my neurosurgeon over the years, he talked a damn lot about this stuff. It's all quite fascinating but there's still so much we don't understand about the brain. I had a large amount of my right temporal lobe removed.
It was because I developed epilepsy. Eventually they had to do an SEEG to pinpoint the origin which involves inserting many probes into the brain. But it turned out that even this experienced neurologist was wrong about his own hypothesis. It was what he described as a "switching phenomenon" that he'd never seen in anybody before me. The things the seizures did to me indicated that the origin was my left side of the brain. However, the "switching phenomenon" made it so that the seizure started in one half of the brain but then switched over, producing contradictory results.
I had to sign the usual consent form before the removal surgery. Y'know, no hard feelings if I die, etc. I was told I'd probably lose my peripheral vision. I didn't. I think my memory might be slightly weaker but I'm mostly the same (and no stupider than usual) despite having a large part of one side removed. It is quite amazing how both hemispheres work together to compensate for brain damage from injury or possibly from brain surgery. 🧠

    • @OutlawMantis
      @OutlawMantis 3 года назад +11

@@dinkopausic6357 It's standard procedure for epilepsy that is eventually deemed uncontrollable by drugs, which involves trying many different drugs first. But that doesn't mean I just decided to get the surgery on a whim myself. I'm from the UK (so, free NHS healthcare) and I ended up having to wait ten years after the epilepsy started before the temporal lobectomy (removal of temporal lobe piece) surgery was given the go-ahead.
It can take several years and piles of paperwork until neurologists are confident about proceeding with brain surgery. An incomprehensibly complex procedure. 😅

Spot on! There is one thing to elaborate on. Whether someone looks left or right in and of itself is not an indication of lying, no. Experienced behaviourists and interrogators look for *deviations* in baseline behaviour. For example, if someone's baseline is that they consistently look left when recounting proven facts, and then they suddenly look right, that may be a red flag on that event.

@helpIthinkmylegsaregone It is real. Sounds like that's what's going on with you. The right side is the intuitive hemisphere, the big picture half. The left is the more specific and analytical hemisphere. I’ve always thought whatever you put effort into you can become really good at but also some things are definitely more natural for some people.
From my observations people who were naturally good at math or science usually have really poor handwriting, poor level of hand eye coordination and wouldn’t really do well in art class, whereas i’m the opposite. Who knows why, maybe because my mother was artistic also🤷‍♂️

It's not just about being an artist or scientist-that's oversimplifying things. In reality, we often see that those with strong mathematical skills struggle with understanding things that aren't computational, while those who can use both hemispheres efficiently are true geniuses. Many arguments arise because one side is feeling an insight or understanding, while the other is construing things word by word, like an NPC or AI. There's a paper mentioned here that claims there is no left or right brain dominance, but in daily life, we clearly see the struggle when people with left- or right-brain tendencies meet. If you can quickly sense what type of person you're dealing with, it can be very helpful. Politically, there are striking identities on each side that may reflect which hemisphere is dominant in their brain, regardless of party policy. Understanding this can help us communicate and learn from these differences. Believing in the debunking paper without considering this reality makes you somewhat ignorant.

    • @lc1138
      @lc1138 Месяц назад

Yep. However it's quite rudimentary to consider only two types of people. For example you'd be able to find both types of functioning in both sides of the political spectrum. People can defend opposite ideas with the same mechanisms, be it envisioning their ideal society, wanting to preserve what they feel important, or simply following fidelity to someone/a group/the thinking process they built their life on. This is just to name a few possible motives.
For everyday life, I'd be more inclined to use models such as MBTI or Enneagram.
I've yet to learn more about Enneagram, but MBTI has been quite a good help in communicating with people that don't function like me MBTI's Ti vs Te (internal Thinking vs external Thinking) might present good analogies with left/right hemispheres. Though ofc it's not the same thing.
In the end all models are false, but some are useful. I wish you farewell and good use of your own models !

@@lc1138 If one side becomes too dominant, it turns radical, and balance tends to emerge from the middle. I’ve noticed that when the left becomes radical, it naturally pushes the right to appear more reasonable, and vice versa. This is especially obvious in the 2024 election. I recognize this dynamic, but it doesn’t seem to be a subject discussed in academia.

If you are a functioning human being, you most probably use both hemispheres !
According to books like The Master and his Emissary, the right hemisphere is more about perceiving the whole environment, and the left is more about using it (by way of separating things in small bits, using, for example, logic).
I guess you need both in your line of work. Perception is indispensable for art, but if you didn't learn to use and transform what you see, you would be more of a monk or a mystic, not an artist.

I think those are both genetic hand downs from ancestral times and cultural norms. Women (by that I mean biologic females who can rear children) are more nurturing, since their role for the last quarter million years, minus the last 50, has been to raise children. Successful mothers have their children survive and thus that genetic trait passed downstream.
And we've for the most part based our social and cultural organization around that gender role of nurturing mother. Pair bonding, mating, and child rearing ensures the success of the civilization, for without it we won't have people to tend our crops and work in our factories. After security from the wilderness, nurturing mothers is a critical component of any species.

One side is structure and logic oriented, the other creative which gives structure life. Without life the structure is meaningless. Masculine and feminine are equal in value and need each other's perspectives to form the default divine whole which God is, and as we are extensions, are also. We are both perspectives in equal measure within our spirit. The 3D world is a world of polarity and separation. Here, you can focus on either perspective for understanding and expansion within it. Without the divine feminine side of Divinity the universe would be an empty void, and experience and expansion would not be possible. Im here to serve humanity. The divine masculine role protects life and creation, protects the feminine. It does not do the reverse or evil by using the body to steal, dominate, enslave and program. And yet people still use the eye example to call out others on lying and if you point out it's not true you will have to provide the study to them as if that changes anything. Clearly you have gone through great trouble knowing these things so it must mean you lie a lot. They will never stop this little riddle.

So am I right to be on the right side cause its gonna be alright
    1 word 3 different meanings?
Couldn't you came up with a better language?
If it was out of a context, how would you know what is referred to?
    Right?
Am I saying right? Or just right side, right cause it's good or right because it's true?
    That's so confusing
Same goes for "the", imagine to be in a zoo and having different animals in front of you, you just say "the" others can't even guess what you are suppose to refer to, since the word "the" alone means nothing (it applies to male/female subjects and can be either associate to one/more.
that, is a big lack in a language)

I’m sorry but I just can’t. The brain is too complex and sophisticated to be a product of chance. Do u have any idea the odds of essentially developing useful mutations? Furthermore, those mutations being so complex that we STILL haven’t been able to fully understand them?? And this wouldn’t be just one or two, but thousands upon thousands of intricate mutations that work together perfectly to make up a human body? No, just no. Mock me all you want, but it’s impossible

I think that this video has actually confused itself/himself
We evidently do operate from both sides and they do communicate.
It's about the dominance of that communication that then filters through and shows primarily which we are led by
Otherwise there would be no differences in personalities everyone would be exactly the same.
So your video to debunk the debunker is useless nonsense

    • @tommybenny11

No because the left and right eye don’t go to each hemisphere of the brain. each eye consists of the left and right visual field which in turn feed to the right and left brain respectively via the optic nerves

    • @I.am.Sarah.

I would guess possibly but only if they had the corpus cerebrum cut to keep both hemispheres from communicating to each other what they are seeing.
