    Thanks a lot. Finally did it with help of a friend whos a mechanic, was struggling to get the lamp back in for 1hour+. Now cornering bulb works again. Do have an error about the Intelligent Light system being inoperative, and my passenger side headlight shuts off completely sometimes. The passenger side is also a bit less bright than driver side. Switching the lefthand/righthand light settings doesn't make it brighter. Could the xenon headlight be starting to die?

    • @AlbanianFix
      @AlbanianFix  Месяц назад

      I would return the cornering lights and order new ones, maybe different model. Looks like the car doesn't recognize them 100% especially the passenger one, it thinks it's dead even though it has a little bit of juice. Yea my I would try a different set.

    half an hour later I still can't get the bulbholder back into the headlamp unit. With the clip on top and the wires on bottom, does it need a clockwise twist or does it just click/pop into the headlamp unit?

    • @AlbanianFix

      Place bulb with top clip at about 10 o’clock position. You will feel it go a little further in.
      Then, turn bulb clockwise to the 12 o’clock position and you’ll feel it snap in.
      The twisting path is very short.

I am asking because i got the signal replace sidemaker lamb on from time to time and notice when i turn left to right they lit up in yellow, it doesnt look good and it pissed me off cuz its yellow... does the yellow light indicate they are burnt, and should be white light insted when you turned from left to right once you replace them ?

    • @AlbanianFix
      @AlbanianFix  Год назад

      The parts I got were OE and from what I remember before I changed the bulbs, the existing ones were also yellow-ish. They seem yellow because of the low lumen but on the street they shine much whiter and you can't tell the difference much. Maybe you can find higher lumen bulbs but that means finding aftermarket parts which these type of cars are very finicky to play along with. It might throw error codes because it doesn't recognize the exact voltage... but.... give it a shot.

    • @AlbanianFix
      @AlbanianFix  4 года назад +1

      Installing LED in cars like these is very finicky. The voltage is not right, it flickers, the car won’t recognize it, so on and so on. That’s why I decided to install the same type of bulb and not LED.

      I never checked that before but let's say, if the steering wheel needs 2 full rotations (720 degrees) to reach dead zone, I would guess that I turn the wheel maaaaybe 3/4 of a rotation (225 degrees) for the cornering lights to turn on.

    Are the cornering lights only activated during darkness? Despite trying various light settings, I cannot seem to get them to light in daylight.

    • @AlbanianFix
      @AlbanianFix  4 года назад +5

      Yes, they're only activate at nighttime. There’s a light sensor at the top-middle of the windshield (right next to the Rain sensor) where it detects darkness. What you can do is, cover it completely with a cardboard or something so the car thinks it’s nighttime and so the cornering lights will be activated when you either turn the steering wheel or use the turn signals.

    I dread these going out because the installation is so hard. You have to do it blind and there is no space also the holder for these things is just sharp enough to cut your fingers up. Mercedes really did a poor job designing the lights on this model, literally every one aside from maybe the main headlight is a task and even that has to be accessed through a special door from the wheel well. There is one set of lights that is a literal chipset board with a tiny led glued onto it for daytime driving... why the heck do we need that?

    • @AlbanianFix
      @AlbanianFix  3 года назад

      You summed it up pretty good when it comes to the bad design.

    my cornering light melt the interior of the plastic

    • @AlbanianFix
      @AlbanianFix  3 года назад

      If I had to guess, I would say that your light was staying ON all the time which it shouldn’t and therefore melting the plastic.
      These cornering lights are only supposed be ON for like 5-10 seconds until you complete the left or right turn and then turn OFF automatically.
      Check and see if that’s the case…

Unfortunately, it takes a good electronic's mechanic with a good mercedes computer to reset the system for the lights to turn on and off when needed (i.e. steering wheel turned or active blinkers to the left or right).
