I agree, Christ Illusion and Divine Intervention are both very cool. However, I would never put South of Heaven higher than Reign in Blood. The intensity of Reign in Blood blows South of Heaven away. It's a good album, I just think they took the foot off the gas a bit too much.

I grew up Slayer. I rank personally Undisputed in my top 5 all because I'm GenX 72' so I got into Metal almost the beginning including punk. I thought Slayer covers of this album was absolutely awesome. Total Slayer.
I was introduced to Slayer right after Seasons came out as I borrowed my buddies copy as well as South of Heaven and asked him which he preferred and he literally said a tie but if he had to pick he'd take South of Heaven and I said I preferred Seasons by a small margin. show no mercy is without a doubt the best album they done at least in my opinion. the judas priest and nwobhm influance is so clear and makes the album better. and really interesting fact here: the lead guitar stuff is actually cool(surprising couse...i mean its slayer basically)i always simulate this album with kill em all cause both albums has that fun and agressive vibe in them. what im trying to say is i dont really like reign in blood or seasons in abbys as much as this couse they are not fun,way too dark for a thrash metal album. thrash should be emotionless,fast as fuck,agressive and fun. just like moshpits. if i want something dark and creepy i could listen some entombed or another oldschool dm band.

South of Heaven is my favorite, so I agree with you on having it so high. Mandantory Suicide, Behind the Crooked Cross and South of Heaven are probably my 3 favorite Slayer songs.
hell yeah, seasons all the way. it brings both sides of slayer together, the speed and ferocity of reign in blood and the heavy doominess and melody of south of heaven, and overall it probably has the best songwriting. nice choice for #2 too. i'm a big fan of show no mercy tho, i'd put it above reign in blood actually as i think it's more consistent. reign might not only have 2 good songs but imo it only has 2 'really' good songs.

I think a lot of people sleep on hell awaits because it is muddy and super reverbed, and I completely understand. But the thing is the reverb fits the theme perfectly, and it may be their most interesting album. At Dawn they Sleep is easily a top 10 Slayer song, possibly top 3. Hell awaits is a perfect intro although it was an acquired taste for me. Crypts of Eternity has such a great progression and Kill again does what it sets out to do so well. Kill Again on HA is like Fight to Death on SNM. The album really has it all. To be honest, there is literally nothing wrong with Necrophiliac and I love the way it ends, but I find it more safe and boring than the other tracks. It’s probably my second least favorite on the album yet it is still a great song. I just think it is a little overrated sometimes

Christ Illusion is my second least favorite Slayer album after Repentless. It has all the proper Slayer ingredients but the songs are really lame and unmemorable. Cult is the best song on the album. When I listen to it it's to try to convince myself that maybe I'll like it this time, but I never do. It's probably because Kerry wrote most of it and he's not as good as Jeff.
It’s one of my favourites honestly, - Jihad is probably my favourite slayer song especially the last part which is scary and chilling (ironically I am an arab/muslim) - Black serenade is an intense, raging and catchy song - cult is an over the top intense, no holding back song - skeleton christ has intense lyrics and a very enjoyable riffs also the drum solo by dave alone make’s the song great (which proves why he’s a intense and great drummer) - final six and flesh storm are great as well The main problem with the album is that a bigger spotlight is given to the vocals more so than to the instrumentals which made other slayer masterpieces such as raining blood, angel of death, hell awaits, silent scream great. I know why people might dislike it, it’s highly lyrical and the rhythms are not memorable as much.
I love ALL Slayer!!! To me nothing sucks!! I understand why some people don’t like Undisputed Attitude. I don’t count it cause it’s mostly covers. My favs have always been Hell Awaits. Reign, South & Seasons.

The whole issule regarding some people (including Me) complaining about *Reign in Blood* is the Length of the Tracks, almost 7 out of 10 Songs fall somewhere b/w 1 & a half to 2 & a half minutes, face-melting Riffs kick in, but soon as you think they're gonna multiply further, the Song freaking Ends, they just didn't leave the Space for the Riffs to come to a close in the time they should have. They went from putting out Tracks that were *plus-6* minutes to Tracks around 2 minutes, it just didn't do for me, still prefer *Hell Awaits* over *Reign in Blood*

South of Heaven is my favorite, so I agree with you on having it so high. Mandantory Suicide, Behind the Crooked Cross and South of Heaven are probably my 3 favorite Slayer songs.

hell yeah, seasons all the way. it brings both sides of slayer together, the speed and ferocity of reign in blood and the heavy doominess and melody of south of heaven, and overall it probably has the best songwriting. nice choice for #2 too. i'm a big fan of show no mercy tho, i'd put it above reign in blood actually as i think it's more consistent. reign might not only have 2 good songs but imo it only has 2 'really' good songs.

Glad you liked South that much, that's actually my favorite, Hell Awaits is second best to me
I think a lot of people sleep on hell awaits because it is muddy and super reverbed, and I completely understand.
But the thing is the reverb fits the theme perfectly, and it may be their most interesting album. At Dawn they Sleep is easily a top 10 Slayer song, possibly top 3. Hell awaits is a perfect intro although it was an acquired taste for me. Crypts of Eternity has such a great progression and Kill again does what it sets out to do so well. Kill Again on HA is like Fight to Death on SNM. The album really has it all.
To be honest, there is literally nothing wrong with Necrophiliac and I love the way it ends, but I find it more safe and boring than the other tracks. It’s probably my second least favorite on the album yet it is still a great song. I just think it is a little overrated sometimes

Christ Illusion is my second least favorite Slayer album after Repentless. It has all the proper Slayer ingredients but the songs are really lame and unmemorable. Cult is the best song on the album. When I listen to it it's to try to convince myself that maybe I'll like it this time, but I never do. It's probably because Kerry wrote most of it and he's not as good as Jeff.
It’s one of my favourites honestly,
- Jihad is probably my favourite slayer song especially the last part which is scary and chilling (ironically I am an arab/muslim)
- Black serenade is an intense, raging and catchy song
- cult is an over the top intense, no holding back song
- skeleton christ has intense lyrics and a very enjoyable riffs also the drum solo by dave alone make’s the song great (which proves why he’s a intense and great drummer)
- final six and flesh storm are great as well
The main problem with the album is that a bigger spotlight is given to the vocals more so than to the instrumentals which made other slayer masterpieces such as raining blood, angel of death, hell awaits, silent scream great.
I know why people might dislike it, it’s highly lyrical and the rhythms are not memorable as much.

I love ALL Slayer!!! To me nothing sucks!! I understand why some people don’t like Undisputed Attitude. I don’t count it cause it’s mostly covers. My favs have always been Hell Awaits. Reign, South & Seasons.
Undisputed was a cover compilation. The first two albums are really just EP demos. The first album is reign in blood. Personally I think every album is very good. I loved season of abyss.

this channel is so underrated
The whole issule regarding some people (including Me) complaining about *Reign in Blood* is the Length of the Tracks, almost 7 out of 10 Songs fall somewhere b/w 1 & a half to 2 & a half minutes, face-melting Riffs kick in, but soon as you think they're gonna multiply further, the Song freaking Ends, they just didn't leave the Space for the Riffs to come to a close in the time they should have.
They went from putting out Tracks that were *plus-6* minutes to Tracks around 2 minutes, it just didn't do for me, still prefer *Hell Awaits* over *Reign in Blood*

Dessident Aggressor is a Judas Priest Cover.
Though ironically you said why people do covers if originals better - and say Dissedent Aggressor from South Of Heaven is great but originally it was made by Judas Priest in 1977.

I've always had the opinion that Christ Illusion is the only album that holds a candle to the golden era stuff.
Makes sense. That was the return of Dave Lombardo after all. I have yet to hear it myself, though. (Forgive me, Satan!)
Reign In Blood was the first album I heard from them, and after having listened to all their albums many times, it is still my favorite and for me at least, their best album...I didn't really like the albums after Divine Intervention, I think they became too "modern" and maybe they even added nu metal elements in their music, and I really hate nu metal...yes, nu metal was popular at that time, but "popular' doesn't necessarily mean "good"...my top 5 Slayer albums are 1)Reign In Blood, 2)Hell Awaits, 3)Show No Mercy, 4)South Of Heaven and 5)Divine Intervention...

I personally don't like Seasons In The Abyss,outside of couple great songs it just sounds boring for me. South Of Heaven does mid-paced songs way better than Seasons in my opinion. Not a bad album,just doesn't live up to the hype it gets.
