They are drawings (voiced by adults, the only "real" part of the characters) ... there is no such thing as "Actual CP" on this game or any other with similar mechanics. Censorship is bad, supporting it because the content makes you queasy is just plain wrong ... make it optional, like they do with blood/gore in other games ... even then virtue signaling assholes will still have a problem with it
It'd be nice if they released a patch for those who want the original experience. Plenty of other games do that on PC. You are right. People will find ways to be mad no matter what.
Thanks for the video and review. 👏 The mechanic feels tagged on because it is - JP gamedevs, who made games for PS Vita, like this one, had to include a touchy-feely mechanic into every game thanks to the insane success of Monster Monpiece back in the day. But that is just a bigone era, and the only reason we are seeing it now is because there were still some games ready to get ported from PS Vita to PC. Some devs still include goofier, more funny and less creepy versions of that mechanic into games - but more for lulz than to be a big feature. I'm glad the mechanic is gone from game design, it made some rather wholesome games look unnecessarily pervy.
Looks like the Gog version is getting review-bombed into the stratosphere. It's a shame really; I love the dungeon crawler genre, but I don't like to see where the original vision of an artist/developer is censored. Even if the work is highly problematic; in such cases just give it an R18 rating, and it can serve as an opening for discussion or controversy.

This game is another example of products that very well have a lot of promose from a mechanical standpoint, but the tone and esthetics really hold it back. On one hand, I get it, nothing in this game is immediately harmful, and the product is far more than it's accusations. On the other hand, there is enough of this permeation any given moment that it become rather hard to ignore, and the times when it does nearly cross the line really press on the sensibilities of the player. I can't deny that this game has something of an appeal as a dungeon crawler, but that also goes hand in hand with how on its sleeve the game is with its fetishizing, and if the game wanted a wider release with mass appeal, then it would have to decide what is and isn't allowed to stay. Ultimately, I can respect the debs for sticking to their guns in their and keeping whatever they could, but I also don't blame the general public for their discomfort (some hyperbole aside). At the very least... it can't be any more a waste of my life than the time I tried Conception 2 :/
I like Idea factory published dungeon crawlers all so much, the mechanics tend to be good and indepht, the CGs are beautyful and the linework is stunning, compared to the 3d models/enviroments they would use otherwise or in addition. They usualy have one or two mechanics that open up the debate of is this "appropriate" be it implied or shown (which teenage me did not mind at all), be it mary skelters blood splatter and removal mechanic, or monster monpiece shake rubs. Its part of their art/design direction.

Nah, english VA only brings trouble and controversy. They can not to express their political views all the time and most of them do not align with creator's. Also, quality of eng voiceovers are inferior in most cases, exceptions only if funny (Ghost stories for example). Only good one while being close to original dub is Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt. Situation might improve when AI voiceovers will be even better than now.

Yeah it was very short sighted for the porters to not put the mechanic into a R18 patch. No matter what camp you fall into.
