This was Yuki Tsunoda being recorded during a practice session. This was very early in the season since then the cars have actually developed and gotten faster and the broadcasters have started to air uncensored helmet cam footage. Check out Alonso vs Vettal at the last lap of the Japanese GP
Guys so short he can sit in the cockpit without putting his legs in the tubes
no, this one on yuki was special cam, others are slightly off angle
@@nopetarpan I think you are right. This helmet can seems located between both eyes and not to the side.
@@valije maybe there is one on middle just above the mouth where visor closes, but I think for THIS VIDEO he stuck a go pro on his nose below his eyes or something..
@@nopetarpan I believe they use a pair of eyeglasses with a camera on them. Other teams have used them on promotional runs before, Mercedes comes to mind, Bottas wore them. So pretty much as close to seeing what the driver sees as possible.
You can even see he isn't going all out because in the main straight he kept it in 7th below the shift revs which are the blue lights
It's actually called a pit wall lol. Yes they have limiters in pits. Wind immense and it can make you deaf. Earplugs and you're good to go. F1 pace is even faster. Pits used to be slower but they no longer load fuel. So it speeds it up a lot. I'm an F1 fan. Watched it for 25+ years. I ride motorbikes on tracks for fun. So I like F1 for its speed. But also cos I can literally go race on any F1 track in the world on my bike. I've only done UK ones. You can ride on any. How they make money. F1 races are not know for making bank. Silverstone over the years has struggled and even got special deals cos it's a legendary track. Cos they couldn't afford to keep it. Even lost it but got it back. Donny park is a big Motobike track, I ride that yearly. It's really surreal and F with your head for a few laps. You can cheat too. Just play some computer games and get an understanding on what's what. Loads of fun tbh. I don't road ride anymore. Too dangerous. I've had 6 injuries and a bent spine lol. Only a matter of time until I'm dead. Can't ride my luck forever.
They don't get a lot of chances to practice pit stops with a powered car coming into the pits. So during practice sessions they routinely change tyres when the cars come in at the end of a stint before it gets wheeled back into the pits to hone their skills.
This also marks the second set as “used”, as they need to give a set of used and un-used wheels back each session so why not wheels you’ll never need in the race?
At 4:32 - there was a red flag (spot the light panel on the left) so all cars have to return to pits. This was made during the pre-season test at Bahrain, so there are less marshals about than a racing weekend, hence every stoppage on track has to be red flagged. The pit crew will take every opportunity to practice and hone their skills, even if the car is not going out again.
My biggest takeaway is how insanely intense even a practice session looks. These guys have astronaut levels of focus under pressure. I bet his heart rate isn’t even 100. Looks so calm. I’d be absolutely shutting myself
To be fair, once you get the muscle memory its quite chill. I do alot of sim racing (close to being real life) but the more laps you do, the more automatic it is
@@joshflynn2173 I’m sorry bro, but sim aint nothing like real life😂 especially when it’s about F1
@@borgesssss muscle memory yes, muscle strength no
@@borgesssss his point still stands tho bc sure its sim racing but you can still feel the speed of an f1 car and it is overwhelming at first but after a while it becomes rhythmic and natural which is what happens to f1 drivers itll feel fast at first but when the muscle memory kicks in things feel a lot slower as they know how to do every corner so you can relax a lot more. And you do get that from sim racing too its just not as severe because you cant die in sim
A couple of races ago Alonso actualy talked on the radio to his mecanic about his teammate during the race. The only way he could have known about it was to look at the big screen beside the track. And this while racing.
Another good helmet cam view is on Leclerc when he’s battling Verstappen in Bahrain. It’s one thing seeing them just drive but watching their POV of going wheel to wheel is absolutely insane.
Yeah that would make a great video
The big thing to remember, that no one says, the drivers' eyes don't see the same shake as the camera, of course their bodies feel it. Your eye is a gimbal, and a small camera strapped to a helmet doesn't have this. Not to detract from any of the difficulty of a F1 driver, but the perspective isn't the same.
It is much like driving your own car on a bumby road, your eyes adjust, a camera doesn't.
@@lucde_ville4743 No no this is Inside helmet camera
If you want to see some helmet cam footage where the steering wheel display is not blurred there's a video of Esteban Ocon explaining to a sky reporter what the numbers on his steering wheel mean, when he shifts, what he adjusts during corners etc. while they watch a lap he drove earlier this season
oh yea its the interview with paul di resta while waiting for the singapore gp to start because of the delay caused by the rain
@@plty3931 really I thought it was Lawrence Barretto, but don't remember anymore. Anyway I can't find the video anymore, I thought I saw the clip on the Formula 1 RUclips channel but it's not there so I must have only seen it live
This is the start of an actual race. Ferrari helmet cam footage. You'll enjoy it!
ruclips.net/video/hnyFSfLmxUU/видео.html&ab_channel=F1Jackman
This! 100 times this
God if only we could somehow get a pole lap on a track like Monaco with this camera angle, it would be absolutely legendary
ruclips.net/video/pO32c8yGhDU/видео.html
I believe they're working on making each pole lap available with this view; but don't quote me on it!
The record pit stop is 1.8 secs now. Since they stopped refueling the times dropped massively
After this nice reaction you should see this one: ruclips.net/video/tFwcq5lf0wU/видео.html
"F1 Pit Stop In 2-Seconds: An In-Depth Analysis"
The pit lane speed limiter depends on the track, but I think at Bahrain it is 80km/h. Imagine being the front jack man standing, waiting and hoping the driver stops on his marks!
30 years ago there were no speed limits. Ayrton Senna set the fastest lap at one race (Donington 1993) when driving through the pits!
Here is an example: Prost vs Senna ruclips.net/video/m8gjBwJALvE/видео.html
I thought of Stroll when I read that. Was it 2020 when he got the car stopped passed it’s marker and the front jack man went flying. “Sorry.. brakes were cold.”
Don't forget the Australian MotoGP is on this weekend. You should check out how much Casey Stoner dominated at the island
Check it out on a real race. Alonso vs Vettel in Suzuka the last weekend, for instance.
ruclips.net/video/au1le-ToBUU/видео.html
The last one pit stop was a practice tire change.
Also red flagged. You can see the red light on the wheel and the lights left of the track before he enters the pit lane.
@@cyclingchantal its not red flagged I think, its just the end of the session probably a practice session
He had to go in because there was a red flag - you can see it blinking everywhere when he is doing last corner :)
The centre post of the halo (that crash structure that is around the top of the cockpit) is even less intrusive of the driver's vision than it appears in that video because your eyes look past it. If you hold your hand up side-on in front of your face it almost disappears when you look past it. That's what happens with the halo. You can even get the same effect in VR on a sim racing game.
In terms of pitstop speed, this was pretty average. The sister team Red Bull, usually have better pitstops by a few tenths of a second
He had to go in because there was a red flag - you can see it blinking everywhere when he is doing last corner :)
Cheers Ian, always great to see you enjoy all kinds of motorsports :) I've got a recommendation for ya I think you'd really like: Over a decade ago, Tony Stewart (yup, the one) and Lewis Hamilton swapped seats and drove the other's race car around Watkins Glen! This is only a 10 minute excerpt from the whole 45 Minute video which is still on YT, but they only drive the cars in the last couple of minutes of the footage. Stewart gets to drive Hamilton's championship winning McLaren with a ultra high revving V8 and one of the best liveries ever put on a F1 car. The best thing is, this is actual TV footage from the SPEED channel, I'm sure you'll remember the commentators' voices from NASCAR. I really love the footage of Stewart, who's got Indycar experience, getting to grips with the McLaren. Bless ya, have a great day! ruclips.net/video/LbxP09UZ2F0/видео.html
100 % agree. I just went and watched it. AWSEMOM
That was such a good video recommendation... couldn't stop smiling the entire time! TY!
Imagine this view with a 2004/2005 car on a quali-lap around Monaco!
alonso vs raikkonen
@@nembokid19 The first thing that came to mind!
I think i saw it a thousand times
The seating position is described as lying in a bath. Your feet are above your hips
Yeah these guys suffer over 5G in the braking, often ofet 3G in the Corners. The stop at the end was a normal thing, they do a practice stop whenever they come in, even if they're not going out again.
They also brake at around 1G just by lifting off the throttle at the end of a straight, due to the intense aero drag.
Good morning everyone I see no one else can sleep tonight
You really need to see the new stuff from inside the helmet visor. There's even in race footage and it's just brutal.
Something like this: ruclips.net/video/P7Gyp8iQRU8/видео.html
Btw, at 5:10 it was just a practice pit stop. they make them often. He was coming in anyway.
take a look to leclerc and verstappen battle for the lead this year with helmet cam
EDIT . Look up Driver61 pitstop and you understant what each one does.
Might be from this season ,the giant walls(the tyres) on each front corner plus the bouncing on the long straights ,msybe its from last year but that bouncing is so bad & instant that it make me think its 85% this current season.
yea and this is nowhere near flat out
You should check out some of the visor cam clips uploaded to the F1 channel. They’re actual cameras inside the helmets and the perspective they give is even more incredible
Cool
There is a video of jenson button taking a f1 car round bathhurst that might be up your street
Ian has done a reaction to one of the videos on that but I can't remember what one I was hoping to that he would check out the other ones that he hasn't watched just the sound of that car echoing around the mountain and the helicopter view is awesome
That porpoising... drivers will regret latter in life this.
It was a good quality video to show the drivers eye view but it was not a lap at full racing speed. The link below although shorter gives you a much better idea of speed and sound in a real race scenario.
Check out Chainbear’s F1 vids. Very informative.
great reaction! And the drives now have less visibility with these new cars and bigger 18 inches tires, you can barely see the apex when getting into a corner
From 660mm to 720mm diameter, 60mm or 6cm more and nowhere near the monsters the commentators make out
I agree even in F1 22 if you use cockpit cam your just guessing where the apex is half the time
Pity the radio wasn't on you'd have the pleasure of hearing YUKI effing and blinding 🤣
And just think they're not even full push laps, helmet cam during quali is awesome
I can't wait for next year, las vegas night race, i'm sure it will be awesome
Saw this on RUclips and was waiting for you to see this. Crazy thing is this is a slow practice lap. Not even a flying (or push lap)
The thing that impresses me most how they stop in the right place. Raced bikes for years and coming off the track the brain is in high speed mode yet they adjust so quickly
Cant remember if you have or not, but you should react to f1 g-forces
I think they are allowed 21 mechanics working on the car during a pitstop. Reb bull holds the record for fastest pit stop at 1.86 seconds 😊
Find a car cam from early 2000's from above drivers head doing a lap of ( SPA - FRANCORCHAMPS ) in Belgium !! You just cant beat it man !!
that evening lightning is so cool
Watch Max Verstappen Brazil 2016
ayo! nice hat! more of a cubbies guy myself but seeing any chi town team represented is amazing!!!!
Thanks man i love your videos u deserve at least a million subs great content
The pain killer companies must of made a fortune this year from the drivers to get rid of there head and backaches from all that porpoising (not sure how to spell it) going on specially earlier in the year and if you get a chance Ian there are some good vids on RUclips about Targa Tasmania you would like if you want to check out a different form of racing there's good scenery and sound specially from the V8s thanks Ian love ya work 👍😀
Usually when they pull in, they do another pitstop to practice. These weren't even thát fast. I believe the fastest pitstop is in F1 was 1.8s.
Also there's no powerbraking so these guys have to put somewhere around 300lbs of braking force on the paddle each time. Imagine doing that for 1,5hrs straight
The helmet cam is what I think F1 sorely needed.
The crazy H pattern shifted Turbo flames days really showed how mental the F1 cars were, but the newer cars are so stupid fast that on TV it doesnt really look like its all different to Indycar.
Knowing what G force these cars can pull, like 5.5g on the brakes, especially here at what looks to be Bahrain.
It shows how much the drivers are doing through the steering wheel. Shows how firm the cars are when at full chat.
The corners seem like maybe 10 feet apart. Turn 1 seemed like Yuki 100% downshift 3 or 4 gears before the wind noise died down and the apex came up.
Dudeson bro man guy, id watch a single drivers helmet cam for the season regardless of the drivers performance just to experience the insane physics defying insanity that is f1 through the drivers eyes.
This years cars were really brutally bouncy before the porpoising got smoothed out more.
Apparently the current F1 cars are the length and width of a Ford F-150. I believe driver61 on youtube noted that.
So
The older turbo cars and V10 era LOOKED and Sounded as mental as the performance. Yet the new cars apparently are full size truck diemnsions(aside from height, lol) and are WAY WAY quicker around all these tracks.
A damn F150 flying FLYING through Monaco Streets, just what the hell even is the black magic gluing these things to the road? Lmao
Ever since i heard the F150 thing(maybe Aidan Millwards channel?) Dude the entire precision and utter 9th sense driver intuition/skill to somehow still race wheel to wheel but not become a tumbled mess of medium countries yearly budgets
pretty sure the pit crew make sure the car is limited when in pit lane, taking the pressure off the driver to do it, they can also wirelessly change some performance specs on the go. Also pretty sure you get disqualified if you spin wheels whilst being serviced in the pit.
There is a button on the steering wheel that engages it
I know I'll never
For one never fit in it 🇦🇺🤣🤣👍
🤣🤣🤣 I’m With ya
With a VR its even better.
This was a practice run, and then they do a "pitstop" after that training because then they can check how much and how uneven the wear in those lapped tires were. And when they go back on track they have these mats over the tires that warm up rubber close to optimal so in race situations driver won't get hindered by the fact that tires are cold.
He should see yuki’s pov imola Laps. U can really see the sure speed on that track
Despite your effort you messed up the Scuderia AlphaTauri pronounciation xD. But you tried. Its "Taou Ri" Like Sauron and Sauruman. its from Latin Taurus which means bull. like the greek letter Tau. Not Taw as in Awe but TA-OÛ-RI => Tauri. But you tried that's what matters.
Yuki Tsunoda doing laps at Bahrain race way. Top speed 201.34 mph. Slowest corner about 51 mph (that is a true hairpin corner). Tha last pitstop is supposed to be like that. The team is traning and often they put on old tires. The 0-60 isn't actually that impressive in F1cars (about 3 sec), but considering that 60-120 is almost the same it make you think. G-forces at braking.... up to 5 g? Lay down on the floor, face down, and putting a 40 lb weight on your head and raise your head from the floor. That movement is done every 10 second or so for over an hour during a race.
Practice session and a bit more practice for the pit crew before garaging the car. AlphaTauri (formerly Torro Rosso and now RB) is Red Bull Racing’s ‘Junior Team’.
That's Yuki Tsunoda, number 22, in Bahrain . And he is not one of the top drivers , at all. You should check Alonso's, Hamilton's, Verstappen's or Leclerc's cam. In the main straight they can go 324 km/h (can't say that in miles but pretty f*ing fast)
Did you get an account for F1 TV Pro yet? Its about 59 euros for a whole year, and you can see EVERYTHING live and play back if you missed it. Also from inside the cars etc, you can pick with whomever you want to watch it.
Actually, you can pay money and you'll get to drive an F1 car (an older model ofc). It's expensive, but it is not insane - it costs something like 16000 EUR depending on how much you want to drive.
12 crew members for a pit stop - 2 per wheel, front and back jack persons, two to hold the car while in the it is jacked up. 2.5 second stops are average. Driving an F1 car... most US citizens would not be able to fit nor would they be able to press the brake pedal.
This is an AlphaTauri. I already had problems seeing any memorable marks on the track because of the porpoising.
I can only imagine what Hamilton and Russel see with that bouncing Mercedes.
As an F1 fan I to am blown away by the helmet cam.
Fun fact, take your foot off the accelerator pedal at 300 KPH and you will feel 1G of force before you even touch the brakes!
It’s missing two wheels but you’ve got to check de new shoulder cam they use in MotoGP for this season. Broadcasting it live and all. It’s an amazing show of raw speed, how much lean angle they bring in corners and all the body placement you need to ride this monstrous bikes. You won’t regret it!
Don't let them knock down NASCAR - it DOES have it merits! Just keep in mind that other forms of motorsports exist :)
If you like to watch pit stops you might like this quite comprehensive video about how pit stops have evolved from the first car races in the late 1800s to modern F1 races. ruclips.net/video/2FrRnbHqogo/видео.html
They have a button they push when going into the pit lane to not exceed the maximum speed allowed (if no limit with all those guys it would really much more dangerous). Sometimes they do exceed the speed limit when not cothiaus they get a penalty varying on the situation. It could be a drive trought the pits on another given lap without the crue doing anithing. A "stop and go" or like 5 seconds taken off the final time (so many). Even if you are the first, drivers have lost because of that.
Our local track Silesia Ring offers F1 ride as a passenger (2 seated modified F1) or yourself after a training. But it is an expensive thing.
it only confirmed to me that rally is 100lvls above, not only skill but the noises and added cooperation with copilot🤷correction 1000lvls, this has no thrill of danger anymore.. rallye is just something else, no room for error there
Cringe comment. They're not in any way comparable.
@@azzifyy5988 exactly! its like opera and local pub singer, or ballet and pogo..
@@theoteddy9665 more like comparing a michelin star restaurant’s bread to the NASA headquarters. They are completely different. Rallys do not go close to F1 speeds, but go on more dangerous and offroad tracks.
There is also little room for error in F1 so no idea what your point is…
@@bobateacuber7646 there is plenty room for error in f1, with no consequnces at all, nikki laudas era was comparable, f1 is about engeneeres, rally is about driving skills.. f1 is preplaned route through each track, calculated to a milimetr, everybody knows what to do, how much turn the wheel and organized by team, monkey can drive it now, rally is for ballers.. f1 is joke now, money rules
I do love rally driving, but it’s comparing athletic 100 m with the steeple chase, no use and totally different, the steeple chase runners can swim, but are they better? Nope, just different.
If you want to see a real sense of the speed they’re driving at look up a helmet cam from the Jeddah race. Preferably the Lando Norris helmet cam during his practice 2 session.
The Alpha Tauri cam is either Pierre Gasly (French) or Yuki Tsunoda (Japanese).
I have one better for you bro. look up hamilton singapore 360 cam that has got to be the sweetest f1 video you can watch (i don't even like the guy) Would love for you to do a video on it.
Now go watch the on-board of Ayrton Senna in his mclaren with manual shifting, epic video
5:00 they usually do a practice rubber change before entering the box
You should look at the Helmet cam on leclerc with he’s fight with Verstappen in Saudi Arabia
some info on their screens are secret that's why they blur the image but i assume that other teams know how to un-blur the image like they did with rpm in the early 2000'. When they did that, they were able to make their engine sing....20 years ago...so for the other teams this video isn't blur. They know how to do that
at Bahrein the weather is too hot that why they do the race by night
I suggest watching max and leclerc Jeddah battle from leclercs POV on F1 yt channel
They possibly just did another wheel change practice before pulling him in the the garage?
I think it was Mclaren who recently managed a 1.8 second tyre change, from stop to go.
Not finished yet but did you say window ? It is safety mesure (no window). But of course the engineers turned into a spoiler to :)
Yep that's how quick formula 1 works 😉👊😎🥃💪🌍
I can ooonly give a recommendation to play F1 with Vr and a racing wheel in F1 Shape or even without vr its soooo fun
Almost as quick as my Tesla 😂. Liked the rally helmet cam better as seems way more dangerous
try Monaco helmet view
If you watch the aces like we do,you can pick your favirite driver and be in his car like this the whole drive its awsome
obviously this is edited and made look better .
in realtime it are shocky and vibrating videos that make no sense for the fans .
maybe race drivers love it but that doesnt pay the bills .
watch a cam as the race is ongoing and i guarantee it doesnt look like this
and that is why these videos are rare thankfully
Like that 2nd gear vtec pull into 3rd clutch it johnner 😜👍😎🥃💪
i love this channel idc that people hate reactions but im loving it
It’s wack that now everyone in us is into f1 it’s nice when you’re the only one for years if you got the money go vip you can actually go into whatever garage you want and meet them
point of view slighly over eye height so drivers are actually lower in the car. is not a cam helm like f1tv though since they have the camera in the right side, this is centered.
if you take shake and wind noise out it actually doesn't loot too different to what i see when doing f1 in my simulator ofc i run lot lower FOV too
If you think this is great, search for Senna onboards around Monaco in the 80s.
Pls react to the MotoGP shoulder cam... that's even crazier
The second pit stop was due to a red flag. You can see the light box just before the pit entry is red.
