Looks a good finish but how about a bit more information? What paint do you use? How do you mix it? What pressure do you spray and what’s the gun set up?
Gun pressures and spray pattern size are to some extent the preference of the person painting. Some prefer higher flow as they naturally have a faster motion. I’ve seen extremes of both. This is also dependent on the hardware obviously that throws another factor into the equation. Not sure how this information would help anyone necessarily. There are lots of channels dedicated to paint gun setup etc.
@@myz06rocks agreed, well said
That’s handy, having a paint shop as an annex to your garage. Great work as always. The black looks great.
Yes mate, it is a great privileged to have such a facility close by !
So are you a bike mechanic! You make it look so easy man! Wicked stuff
Hi Del, just a quick the black paint was it a one shot two pack black ⚫️, some two pack paint has an Isocycionat activater hardener in it this stuff makes for any moisture like mouth nose eyes. I'm not trying to be a smart ass just worried about your eyes picking up any crap 😒 air fed mask best option if using two pack,
Good finish on those parts nice one Del 👍 🏁
Looks great!
Attention to detail, brilliant, best wishes mike, Derbyshire
Thanks Mike, really appreciate your kind words of support!
Beautiful Job 👍
Thank you! 😊
One step closer 👍🧡
T'iz that buddy..!
Nice!
Two things I could never master, laying bricks and spray painting 😵
Looking good 👍
Thanks Shane 👍
Glad it turned into something you can be proud of. Not sure if you lucked into it or if your mate helped you but was good to see you painting upstream (furthest away from the filters) and making your way. It avoids over spray from painting the other parts as you go. 👍🏻
Thanks buddy, glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome job
I'm so excited, I'm almost caught up! Gosh, this is such a journey, thank you so much for all the effort you put into sharing your passion with us!
You are so welcome!
Well Del. the Bandit 6 has gone.
I'm now the proud owner of an 05 plate FZS1000, check Avatar....
It goes like stink !....
Night and day comparison as you would expect. I did enjoy the Bandit though but this is in another league.
24K miles on the clock and £2200 after chopping in my Bandit for it.
What a bike.....
Congratulations on your new bike mate, it's great to step up to the litre class and now you can see why they're so popular!
Very nice Del!
Smashing job Del. I have to admit that I’m not into black bikes. However, the shiny black against the shiny chrome will look class. Don’t take it out in the winter 😂Keep them coming. P.S. Hurry up 😊
Looking smart Del!
That looks fantastic mate 👍
Thanks Howard 👍
Apart from the brilliant paint job Del, the camera work was also a little special👍
Thank you so much for your kind words, we're glad you approve!
Del, please spray that primer on less perfect in the future… You had me worried for a moment the bike was going to be gray! 😆
Cheers, Han
Thanks mate, all colours considered, but in the end black is the right way for these parts!
A bird in the paint shop ?
Outstanding paying job brother as always it is so satisfying to see the outcome ! The paint booth makes it so much easier and clearly the results are better than brand new 💪 keep the great work brother !! Stay safe guys cheers from New York 🍺🍺🍺🍺🥂🥂🥂🥂
Thank you so much brother 😀, the paint booth is a great help as it is an extracted environment so much less over spray and the ability to bake off the paint between finishes means I can carry it back to my shop same day as painting it!... and the paint's super hard almost right away... Have a great weekend both, stay safe and enjoy the sunshine, D&Px
Excellent work Del. A very nice job mate, you are getting good with that paint. That's on my to do list, learn to paint with a gun. Penny and you have a good week, Cheers
Thanks mate, it's actually easier to get a good finish with a paint gun than it is with a rattle can so if you get the chance, you'll get immediately better results! Have a great week there!
Nice work Del,it's going to be a lovely bike for someone, it'll be a beast, hi to Lady Penelope, & take care both x👌👌👍👍
Thanks Geoff 👍, good to hear from you, appreciate your kind words and best wishes, hope all good with you too, D&Px
@@Moonfleet41 👍👍
Nice and consistent
Fantastic paintjob 👌
Many thanks
Harley dyna wide glide 2003 checking the engine oil level in a motorcycle standing vertically or on a side stand?
Check your dip stick, it should tell you on there... On the Jiffy stand !
You’ve become really good at that!.. Sweet job! 👏🏻
Thank you! 😄
Mirror finish - superb Del. Just wondered is it a costly part of your Project to use a professional spray shop?
Pretty sure he has said before he has a friend that let's him use it. That's a big bonus.
Yes there is a cost attached to it Richard, but we do get the benefit of mate's rates!
Those are the best rates 😂👍
Hey del loving your work mate 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Looking mighty fine! I just sprayed some Vivid Black myself on my Sportster's tank and front fender. That is some deep, deep black, for sure! I just wish that I had the loan of that fine booth you were spraying in! My sheet plastic booth inside my ol' shed gave me a couple of nibs in my clearcoat, but nothing that won't wet-sand out. I'm looking forward to seeing your tank and fenders. You are crafting one very nice motorcycle, Del... I salute you!
Hi Tommy, plastic sheeting is great as it acts like a magnet for the over spray and cuts down on a lot of mess, and I find that most trash drops in to the paintwork when you're finished actually painting and still faffing about in the space... I find it helps to blow the last squirt of paint and get straight out of the booth area and gently shut the door then leave it! But you're right, there will always be nibs no matter how good you are and how good your set up, but they don't take a few seconds to stroke out and you're good to go!
Your a true professional Del. Amazing work man.
Thank you so much 👍
They look awesome Del.
Thanks buddy, glad you approve!
Brilliant - as always 🥂
Nice Job .
All I can say is wow 😲 what a finish looks like glass
Thank you kindly.
Bloody hell your paint always comes out amazing 😮
Glass finish....sweet👌
Ur right to look well pleased with that paint job.
Thanks mate!
So shiny !! 🤩🤩🤩
No words needed!
So curious what’s it gonna be when job is done …
Top class work there...Looks just superb..!!
This bike is gonna be a real showcase of your skills..
Your best build to date..!
Well done..
Thanks Brian, really appreciate your kind words!
Ah that satisfying uniform finish, on your feet like a ninja 🥷 nice result 👏🏻
Thanks buddy, had a great day and happy with the results..
Excellent work bruv
As always Del another perfect paint job
Far nicer than factory
Nick Australia
Cheers Nick, really appreciate that mate!
gorgeous
Now THAT is some gorgeous paint job! 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Looking good Del! Cheers mate.
Cheers buddy.
Well done! But why no eye protection?
Love it..nice job done yet again. 😎👍
Thank you! Cheers mate.
Excellent Del - really pops
very nicely done Dell !
Great Video top job Del 👌
In a word 'immaculate '!
Nice one Del x
To be honest, you had me at the Battleship Grey finish/colour of the primer alone lol, but seeing that liquid, mile deep looking beautiful black finish is just jaw dropping, holy cow. As usual, well done, man!
Thank you so much buddy, im really happy with the outcome, and looking forward to getting it back on the bike.
that tank is flawless 😯
Man those came out just gorgeous!
Few things can match a deep gloss black
I totally agree mate, 'tis the finest colour!
Beautiful finish del, gloss black is so unforgiving. Lovely job mate.👍🏻
Thanks mate, you do need to bring yer best game for gloss black aye !
Great video Del. Spot on again with your paint work.
Thanks 👍
Excellent finish Del
[p] Good job DB. That is a lovely spraying set up.
Cheers Pete, I'm privileged to have such facilities at my disposal.
DB . Have you thought about a home powder coating system .
Turned out stellar, IMHO, Del.
Nice spray job Del, it's on my list to have a go at sometime and do a bike tank and tins, when I get a compressor.
You should mate, get stuck in and have fun with it.
@@Moonfleet41 I will one day, without the gear I have had decent results with rattle cans, a swingarm is the biggest I have done so far.
Wow, didn't know u had a paint booth. 👍🍻
Wow, Del… they really came out perfectly! How much time did this cover overall? Another question for you… my MIL has a few “nibs”… less than a hundred I’d say…should I use a grinder or just tough it out by hand sandpapering? Thx!
Have a great week there, both of you!
🏍👍🏍
Thank you Sir, it's about a day to get all the processes done, setting up, cleaning, final de-greasing, primer, then paint, bake in between.. it's always a full day. Oh, and Diamond disc in the grinder i'd say, can't take any chances buddy..lol!
@@Moonfleet41 I figured as much. Hope it’s nearby your shop there.
Yep the old gal gets some burrs and out of kindness I try to smooth them out so others don’t have to avert their eyes. Will try the kit you suggest. Cheers, Mate!
another great bit of work m8 atb iain
Thanks Iain 👍
Lovely job, always wanted to have a go at that, but its not something you have a go at. You get it right first off or not at all IMHO. Thanks :)
Many years of practice mate, and you can get it right most of the time and even then, little errors can be corrected along the way... thanks for your kind words!
Krikey Del the oven must cost a fortune at todays prices. Excellent job though
Really nice Del
Thank you kindly Sir!
Like a Pro!!!... Spectacular
Thanks again mate!
Superb gloss finish - what paint did you use, anything special ? . . .
Spot on with that mirror finish Del!
Happy with the result, Del? You can be proud of yourself.
Günter from Nürnberg/Germany
PS: Wonder what colour you choose for the bike.
You are the best at everything... Here the mechanics afraid to use the pet sealant...
It's hard to beat basic black on a Harley. Especially with stellar results like that Del. Probably the most nerve-wracking part of the paintwork is transporting the shiny sparkling parts from the paint booth back to the shop. Hopefully it's a short trip. You're definitely going to need a dark shield if riding this gem on a sunny day. Beautiful work as always Del and Penny. God bless and be well friends. ❤👍👍
Hi Rick, thank you so much for those kind words, im really happy with the outcome, once it's had a few days to settle down ill be fitting it onto the bike, and really looking forward to that. Thank you for your kind support as always Rick... take care. D&Px
Blimey - Now electricity costs £10 a volt, I hope those fans are keeping someone's 60ft. greenhouses nice & toasty too!
If Penny used that much power on your video lighting, you'd look like Gandhi within a week - minus the glassy finish : )x
Anybody hear that Harley is planning on ending Sportsters? Hard to believe.
It happened a couple of years ago mate..!
@@Moonfleet41 Still selling them at the dealer here. They are earlier year models maybe?
Regardless, huge mistake I think.
@@x-man5056 Left over inventory buddy, they shut the production lines down just under 2yrs ago to prepare production for the new Sportster 1250 and there were thousands of bikes left lying around the world..., so they pulled them back to the US to sell off and probably by next year they'll all be gone!
@@Moonfleet41 That's crazy. Sportster is Iconic. I've owned 2 of them.
not many people have the skills you got dell hope you and penny are well and looking after your selfs
Thanks Raymond, you're very kind, and yes we're doing fine thanks buddy !
I am an expert-level painter, and you, my brother, are my equal.
Preparation and a steady hand are important and you have both traits down-pat.
cheers
Thank you kindly Eric, I'd never call myself an expert at anything.. but lot's of years of practice makes a good result in my case.. Thank you again.
