A melanistic leachie is a solid 3 or 4 grand and even then there is the consideration of locality. So cost is: morph consideration+ease/difficulty breeding+demand+ clutch size+ the market value= total cost (for keepers deduct the maintenance fee from total). Most other lizards will crash down relatively soon because people think they are big brain exploiting the market, but when more people buy more people generally produce. When more people produce (you see this a ton with ball pythons and rarer morphs) the price decreases, which with the additional add on of each morph it saves that price line some. I was going to breed reptiles at one point had 5 ball pythons to do just that. It's kind of a complex game. It helps to have a well known name to just further that baseline of potential clients that trust you to further the potential for slightly more expensive animals since people are less likely to drop a ton of cash on a newer person (this is also why some new sellers will tank the market to sell quickly to get those first few reviews followed by a crank up in price to equal the market). Holy hell I have learned too much from online pet simulation games and equating them to the actual reptile market 😅.
