    Anyone watching this, and reading this comment should know that after scouring the web for sites that offer miniatures for print, including kickstarter, that the folks at Loot have some of THE best sculpts available....period. The best and biggest surprise as a 3d printer of tabletop figures, as well as larger scale (just because I like to paint them) is that every model is presupported perfectly. I mean perfectly....in both scales....with a hollow option....and chitubox version included. The folks at Loot who are supporting and sculpting their models are doing a crusher job. I hope you guys keep up the stellar work, and continue to offer these monthly subscriptions, because they are all I need now.... I don't have to look anywhere else for exceptional sculpts that are ridiculously easy to remove. I would also like to say that I am in no way affiliated with Loot, nor have they contacted/paid me to say this lol. They're just that good!

      @J Yeah, at 28mm it can be tough sometimes...also, lately their supports are garbage. Oversupported to the point where the amount of damage destroys the sculpts. Why put all that time into sculpting beautiful minis if you're going to just slap chop the supports on them and call it a day. It's the main reason i cancelled my sub with them :(

    Do you remember the first time your DVD came in the mail and you realized 1) you'd never have to go to the video store to pick up another movie and 2) no more late fees ? or when you did not have to wait to watch your favorite movie because its now streaming? My personal fav is the day I realized I could stay home and download a game at midnight rather wait out in the cold at Gamestop. 3D printing is all of the above. The power I wield did not dawn on me till I printed and primed my first mini. I held that Dwaf in my hand and all I can think about was "Finally Student has become Master, I am Gameswork!" .

    Over the last year we have printed over 500 miniatures in 32mm and now we are printing large items like Lady Harpy most are from Loot Studios. We have a Mono-X and it has paid for its self. We also have an ender 3 pro we use for terrain pieces of which we have about 40 large terrain items printed and it has paid for its self as well. That’s just our personal collection. We have also printed many great minis for friends such as boss monsters and Hero Forge custom minis. With out the printers we could never have afforded all that. Now if you’ll excuse me I have a LOT of painting to do. Happy Printing

    Thank you for these great tips Loot! Your video's are wonderful for the miniature hobby community. I do have some feedback. The video and camera quality in this episode is amazing. The audio quality however isn't great, especially for headphone users. Were the lavalier microphones configured properly? It is better if your voices are recorded in mono instead of stereo. With the current stereo recording the audio is unpleasant to listen to on headphones. One second you hear voices from the left ear, a couple of seconds later you hear voices from the right ear. The volume is also not normalized, this could mean that the left ear sounds are a lot louder than the right ear sounds. For the listener it feels like they have gone deaf on 1 ear every time one of you speaks. With mono recording the voices will come out with the same volume for both ears. Hope you guys can improve the sound quality in your new video's, I have noticed this problem in multiple video's that have people speaking. Have a great day and keep making wonderful video's!

Resin is cool, but without the proper place to use and print it can be really hazardous… ☹️ so, for someone who has to go with FDM printer what are your suggestions? In my opinion you should buy the models IF you are gaming with them, keep the company that spawned the game afloat.
    The print files you find online are supplied unreliably and get struck down- and often as not by the stakeholders of the company that put money and effort into making them.
    Can they be expensive?-a little, but compare that to the games being completely unavailable in a decade or so.

      Fala Tadeu, tudo certo cara?
      Grande abraaço!

      Bem, eu tambem fiquei relutando para mandar uma mensagem, mas aí vai. Como vocês mesmo disseram, o mercado brasileiro é pequeno, as coisas são todas mais caras e etc... Então vocês poderiam ajudar um pouco o nosso mercado e criar uma assinatura com valor diferente para o Brasil. 15 dolares pra um americano/europeu não é nem de longe a mesma coisa que 15 dolares x 6, + 6,38% iof, + flutuação, etc, para um brasileiro... Na hora da cobrança, a steam no Brasil não converte o dolar pelo preço 'cheio', a Apple tb nao. O trabalho de vocês é sensacional... o nível de detalhe é realmente impressionante, até a expressão nos rostos são fantásticas. FIquei procurando um patreon ou similar que coubesse no meu bolso e tivesse o nível de voces e simplesmente não existe. Então fica aí minha súplica pra vocês considerarem a hipótese de fazer uma assinatura em valor fixo em real, com um link que voces só precisariam divulgar videos de conteúdo em portugues... Vocês não perderiam nada, e nem vou dizer que vocês ganhariam muita coisa não, porque a gente sabe que brasileiro prefere mesmo é coisa de graça, mas pelo menos poderiam bater no peito dizendo que entendem a realidade de onde vcs vieram e imagino (e torço) que ganhariam alguns assinantes brasileiros que nao tem como se comprometer todo mes com um valor que a gente nem sabe quanto vai dar, mas sabe dar valor pra um trabalho de qualidade. Enquanto isso, fico baixando os modelos de graça que voces soltam por aí 😂😂 E mandei no meio de um video velho pra não ficar criando confusão. Parabéns pela qualidade das miniaturas, de verdade.

    3D Printed Tomb of Horrors demonstrates how to print minis with FDM which is overall easier turn resign. Also, DragonRest has an entire dungeon set, dock, guild hall and more for $6

    • @cjlake5754
      @cjlake5754 3 года назад

      if you're wanting terrain or possibly 75mm figures, an FDM printer is great. The vast majority who subscribe to LOOT primarily do so to print 32mm scale minis and then there's just absolutely no comparison between resin and FDM, they're not even close. Dungeon tiles compared to minis is pretty apples and oranges too so the price comparison means next to nothing; the detail per sculpt here is INSANE and a resin printer reproduces it perfectly, plus each month includes every model pre-supported at both 32mm and 75mm. If you just want a basic representative form and aren't at all bothered about a good surface for painting then I guess FDM is fine, otherwise keep that for terrain and join us in resin-world :D

      @cjlake5754 3 года назад

      @@joshuapicaro8726 Possibly 'they're not even close' was a touch hyperbolic as i have indeed seen some pretty good FDM results on smaller minis. They do seem to require a lot more finagling and part upgrades than an out of the box resin printer but yeah, good results are possible. My main points though were that if printing primarily small high detailed minis a resin printer is probably the best bet, but mainly that I don't think $15 is at all unreasonable per month for what you get.

    I GM when my group can meet (not as often as I'd like), so a 3D printer is not a good option for me; I just wouldn't have much use for it anyway. I can't find minis neither on stores nor online. I'm willing to pay for then, but I can't even find where to buy custom 3D printed minis. I'm GMing a Star Wars campaign, so nothing D&D-like works for me.

    Talk about toxic fumes or is it an unwanted topic?

      No one in the resin printing community wants to talk about the safety hazards.

      Happy to talk about it. A lot of the time I feel like it’s over stated by people online, compared to what the SDS says. However I am a polymer chemist with around 15 years industrial experience and patents in a variety of polymer chemistries which are all a heck of a lot more hazardous than 3D printing resins.
      This does however assume that the SDS’s for the resins are accurate, many of them claim that the vapour pressure of the resin is so low that the hazards of the fumes don’t need to be taken into account, however that doesn’t stop them setting off my wife’s allergies.
      Working out the correct hazard labels for polymers isn’t always the easiest thing either, and as the resin’s formulae aren’t published (for obvious reasons) it’s hard to work out what potential hazards not listed on the SDS might be.
      Personally, other than gloves, I use the printer in a semi sealed box with an extraction fan over the top of it, and when I do the solvent wash and clean up, I do it in one of the desk top airbrush spray booths. The vent hoses for the printer extraction and the spray booth both lead outside.

    can you print Miniatures with an fdm 3d printer to?

    • @HighbridgeD
      @HighbridgeD 3 года назад +1

      FDM printing is best applied to scatter terrain or larger terrain pieces, but there are also vendors such as Fat Dragon Games that offer stl files optimized for FDM printing. That said, they simply can't compete with the level of detail that can be achieved with resin printing. But it is possible in many cases, yes. The models just have to be designed in a way that allows for thicker parts.

      Sometimes, yes.
      If someone is just getting into D&D/TTRPGs and want their own mini, they don't need to spend ~$300 on a printer and supplies.
      However, for someone just getting into, say, Warhammer, I think the cost is totally justified - $300+ for an army is outrageous.

      @@xCr00k3Dx Aknowledged! Though what i meant was, when considering 3d printing as a standalone hobby/interest/passion, one doesn't really need to justify starting it depending on what sort of prints are going to be done and the cost comparison with ready made ones. Hopefully it makes sense :)
