- Osnabrück is the only German city that is situated in a national park, the Terra.vita, which includes the Teutoburg Forest and the 'Wiehengebirge'.
The Terra.vita nature reserve covers an area of 1,200 square kilometres, making it Germany's biggest nature reserve. In 2004, it was awarded UNESCO Geopark status on account of its extraordinary role as a geological heritage site.
Osnabrück has gone down in history as a town where peace was made -- the decisive negotiations to end the Thirty Years' War took place here.
Osnabrück is a university town. The main building of Osnabrück University (6:59) is the baroque castle (built 1667-1675), formerly home and office to the Prince-Bishop of Osnabrück, nowadays housing mainly university administration. It is located close to the city center. In summer, the (mostly grass-covered) castle court is used for open air cinema and concerts.

I been in Ousnabruck very beautiful city in Germany in 2015 I'm from Oman
I first went to Osnabruck in the snow in Dec 1952 as a young "called up" soldier. There was still terrible devastation at that time the main rebuilding work not starting until the 1970s I have been back several times since the last in 2005 and what a beautiful city such a difference to those grim early years.

I was based there as a young British soldier in the early 90's. It's an amazing city but I never made the most of it when I was there. I was only 19. I'm going to head back next summer and take my girlfriend. Experience the gorgeous city and camp in the amazing countryside.
My dad was in the paras. I was born there. I dont obviously remember anything but it would be nice to visit. We lived in Germany then aldershot x

When I had to serve there in 1952 the Katherine Church only had a steel framework for the spire due to damage from an air raid on Palm Sunday 1945. I think the rebuilding of the spire took place in 1955/56 although much of the bomb damage was not dealt with until the 1970s.

First there in the early 1950s,it was then still very badly damaged from 79 allied
air raids.Been back many times since and I think it is a lovely City.

@@bonniekratzer2097 Hulshuis sounds like a Dutch name, huis being the Dutch word for house instead of the German Haus. There are some people named Hulshuis in The Netherlands anyway.

Kannst du Vllt genauer nennen warum ? Denn ich werde höchstwahrscheinlich zum studieren dort hinziehen. Wäre echt hilfreich mal so ein allgemeines Feedback über die Stadt zu hören da ich die Stadt bis jetzt garnicht kenne, bin das Nrw leben gewöhnt 😄
@@hastdubrot8564 im Video ist alles schön. Diese stadt ist dreckig und hässlich der ganze neumarkt ist voller dealer und dieben dann kommen stadteile wie Schinkel,Schölerberg,Dodesheide und Kalkhügel wo man angst haben muss nachts nachhause zu gehen.
jeder jugendliche ist gefühlt kriminell riecht nach gras oder alkohol hab sogar schon Jugendliche gesehen die sich im Schlossgarten oder am Bahnhof spritzen geben.
Keiner sagt Hallo oder guckt freundlich einfach eklig.
Fühle mich wie in Berlin oder Frankfurt.
Studiere selber wurde auch schon abgezogen als ich an der Hauptschule Innenstadt lang gegangen bin hört sich lustig an aber wenn dich 5 16 jährige mit messer und schlagring bedrohen was willst du machen?
