Dude, you HAVE to find someone who can put an M1 Mac mini internals in there and hook it up so all the original buttons and CD drive works. IMAGINE how cool it would be!
Outstanding video! Your art and design background gives you such a different viewpoint to look back on older Apple products. I really hope we see more of this content from you going forward.
For me it's the 12" Powerbook G4. Happy to have a 1.5ghz model in pristine condition with the box, manuals, software (including a retail copy of Leopard), brand new battery and even complete in box iSight camera to go with it. I've since sold most of all my other vintage gear but that one I'll keep forever.
I had this exact setup. I loved it. But like many others at the time, the HD failed in, like, less than six months, and it spent the rest of the time I had it working off an external drive.
Fantastic video! I love your passion about Apple products. It’s really endearing and heartwarming to see how excited you are about this product even though it was a “failure.”
You should have mentioned the "trash can" Mac Pro of 2013, another similar history of a great design failure. Was clearly inspired by the G4 and had the same kind of problem.
@@obidean3964 Maybe not, but the influence influence of this engineering on other Macs is interesting...despite the commercial failure. The single vertical flow of air is pretty interesting, works well but is hard on upgrades. The idea of a sleeve case with handle is used in the actual Mac Pro. It's not a comparison, but sure worth mention to the story of the video.
I agree 100 percent. While, my bank account was to low back when the G4 Cubes were new. I will be adding a trash can sized 2013, Mac Pro to my collection next month and pair it with my Apple 27-inch cinema (none thunderbolt) display.
I looked for a photo of this on Dieter Rams' desk, because it seemed that it could happpen. But, surprisingly, although Rams said that if he had designed a computer, it would look like an Apple, he doesn't have a computer on any of his desks.
the reason this was a failure is because it was too expensive because of the work they put into making it and that just makes it not worth it for most people
Okay, so if Apple makes a failure product, its a beautiful failure ? If it shows ads, its information ? If it removes a charging brick and changes the cable from USB A to C so that you you have to essentially buy a new one, its saving the environment ? WTH is wrong with some people these days... 🤦♂️
@@bholuwhoop5944 its a “beautiful” failure because it was beautiful aesthetically, and it was a failure because of the price, so it is indeed a beautiful failure. Though i do agree with your second and third statement, people just praise apple for being apple, not for doing good stuff and making price worthy products
@@gavinpotter8741 My first statement was more like a generalization to point towards and compare with the rest... But still IMHO, #Opinion, it looks ugly... 😏

Nick Ansuini has a Channel and he put a m1 Mac mini in a g4 cube and has it working with the Cinema Display

@@nolanrembert189 ommmgg thanks! So awesome
Old Apple hardware is so much fun! Great video as always Isaac :D
Lol....
Facts! Thanks for watching. :)
They should really do another take on this form factor with their new Apple Silicon 😍
Agreed!
There is mac mini
Mac Studio fits imo
"A Beautiful Failure" describes it pretty well. You gotta admit, it looks kinda cool, I'd love to see Apple making a "remake" of this 🤩🤩🤩
Would be so cool
There's the mac mini
2:29 Apple being Apple even before it was cool.
I don't know what this is but I'm here for it
ahahahaha

Thank you so much! I hope to make more for sure.
Ah yes, retro Apple product videos, just the best
Glad you like em!
Yesss

This was a very nice video and, I have always loved Apple's G4 Cube. Question, were you also able to get a pair of matching speakers?
MDK! I remember that disk came in a booklet of software with my Bondi Blue iMac G3!
SO GOOD
I've been WAITING for this video!
I love all these historic Apple product videos from you!
Thank you!!
This might be a commercial failure but this is a design and engineering marvel ! This was 20 years ahead of it's time !
A beautiful video for a beautiful product…
Kudos to you.

But the "trash can" Mac Pro not even hold candle to beauty of this G4 tho

The 2013 Mac Pro was gorgeous. Looks way better than the Mac Studio.
Canoopsy is it possible to have windows and do coding on a phone setup or android tablet like one u made?
That was my first Mac, I still love its looks. Thought about buying one used now and put a Mac mini inside
Its beautiful i want apple to make another version of this
Same
In Next Video kindly review a Microsoft product
i kinda wanna buy one for the case and build a itx pc in it… can’t get over the design of it it’s so nice

I really want to get my hand on the G4 imac. Hopefully I can get one in good condition
Computing in style
Ahh! I see where "Nothing" gets its inspiration from ;)
This design with an M1X processor and Pro Display XDR might be the best computer ever created.
FACTS
Don’t forget Steve Jobs’ NeXT Cube was the precursor to this Cube.
Also didn’t know the single video cable also supplied power. Way ahead of its time!
Oh that computer is incredible. I really wish I could find one!
As always, this could not get any more aesthetic
🙌
One thing I loved about the g4 cube, was it didn't have a million screws holding it in place unlike the powerbok G4.
Exactly it’s soooo clean
Kinda wanna see a new mac mini pro or something like that, that looks like this design.
Nice job, Isaac!!
Quite a few people are repurposing these with M1 Mac Mini's. That's a compelling, yet functional, table piece.
I’ve seen a few modded ones! So cool
WoW 🤩 awesome as usual 😍😍😍😍🙏⭐️🚩
I wanted this toaster so bad!!!!
When OS X came out you could dual boot between 9 and X which was awesome
Retro apple products oh canoopsy dont make me carve for them again
Apple's design is going back in time!
God if they make a Mac Pro cube and a rumored non pro XDR display I will buy it in a heartbeat
the reason this was a failure is because it was too expensive because of the work they put into making it and that just makes it not worth it for most people
The cube was the odd one out in the family
BANGER ALERT 🚨
Oh I would love the cube with M1
ruclips.net/video/_LdCUqWTwjs/видео.html This Guy modded an m1 Mac mini into the g4 cube and even got the studio display working with it
That power adapter really is sexy
New Mac Pro isn’t getting a redesign. It leaked they are just putting apple silicon in the 2019 tower
Dope video
Thank you Sergio!
That looks like a bread toaster
MDK is a great game

Apple G4 cube is now the MAC MINI
I see one on ebay right now for 30 bucks
They basically just did it.
Sounds like what my parents call me. A beautiful faiure
Hahaha 😂
Is it just me or does the screen look like a pre-model of an IPad?
Yes! I wish the connector was more modern - I'd love to use this with my iPad. I'm sure the aspect ratio would fit nicely too.
Your hair is a g4
You must put m1 mac mini inside the case of this that'll be fantastic
