This is exactly why i went with the Military. what happened to you is what happens to the majority of young people, you are pushed into a system you dont understand and doesnt benefit you unless you know exactly what you want out of it by people who are disconnected from the reality of said system. then Its made out by everyone around you that if you DONT buy into a very predatory system as a teen you are a loser.
my parents wanted me to go to college because thats what worked for their generation. i took one look at the crushing classwork, astronomical debt and effect of such a permenant financial choice so young and ran the other way. now i do college for free and am working towards a degree doing a job that while hard, is fufilling, fun and gives me travel.
obviously i wouldnt recomend everybody (or even most people tbh) do what i did, but i really wish more people would support their kids doing something outside of college instantly after high school and show them there are other options. at the very LEAST give them time to consider what they want from more schooling and learn how to live independently first. there really are a ton of better or equally good options for life in the trades and civil services other than going to college straight after high school

True words sir, I am glad you saw through the confusion at such a young age. It is what it is at this point and I’m making the most out of what I have, but if I ever have kids there will be absolutely no pushing to go to college. As long as they stay curious and trying things out I’d be happier than saying “my kid is a college graduate 🤡”
Thanks for backing up my opinion on that one

@@Sgumby1 Yeah nah, you are totally correct with that i think. i think thats the really crappy part about it though, its almost like to some parents its about an acomplishment for THEM rather whats good for their kid. Idk if ill encourage my kids to do what I DO either lol, but i really doubt college is gonna be the first thing id advise either😂
