I love watching your video's i find them so relaxing and i learn something as well i like making these but i do push on lid but i might have to try thread chasing
Ronald, I have watched several thread chasing videos. Yours is the most complete, and sometimes funny. Like, "if your chaser hits the bottom of your work, you might screw up"!? Your technique is excellent. Your RUclips presentational the tine is The Best! Your photographer, is also quite professional, and funny too. If you need to get out of the Netherlands for a holiday in California, let me and my wife know. You are a great RUclips friend!!
I have watched nearly all of your RUclips videos. They are organized, offer excellent content, are rich in turning tips, and are a pleasure to watch. I look forward to you next video. I am sorry that you lost your dog. Take care.
Truly fantastic video. I am a new (2 weeks) Robust owner, but must apologize for not purchasing their Dutch Beauty! LOL... I only got the American Beauty model. OK.... off to find a bit of steel to make that box scraper and the back-cut tool. Thank you, again.
great videos, thanks! I love the relaxed style, and the range of projects. It occurs to me that Lies must now be very knowledgeable on turning: how about she does the instructional video on a turning project, and you hold the camera? Keep up the good work!
Your videos are a pure pleasure to watch. Thank you for bring us along on the project. We have very few woods here in the US that are suitable for chasing. As such, frankly, I didn't know that walnut could be reliably used for hand chasing. Great info...thanks for that too.
BTW: Now that I think about it, Why in the world would you EVER want to leave the Netherlands to come to California for a holiday? You stay in the Netherlands, we'll come to visit you!!
Completely enjoying your videos. I appreciate your skill, your style, and your choice of projects. And wow, what high production values! Excellent for instruction and for entertainment. Thread chasing is always fun, especially when it goes well, but that very challenging first scratch gets me sometimes. Hate to admit how many times my box had to get a bit smaller! Great suggestion to find your speed and stick with it.
My biggest worry with hand chasing the threads is thinking that I may cut the threads uneven/unparallel. That would make for a lid that didn't fit right. Have to try it some time. An acorn is what the Baxter threading jig set up uses as an example of how to machine cut threads. No help for lining up the grain.... I do keep an electric toothbrush head, with magnets, on the lathe when cutting threads. A couple of drops on it and it lubricates and cleans out the swarf from the threads. We think alike that way....
Hi Ronald, Craig here from UK also a Turner started during Covid19 and really I am enjoying my Turning journey Love the VLOG on Thread casing and would like to know where I can purchase a set of chasing tools 16TPi
Wonderful video,, I might not try thread chasing just yet, but I will certainly try an acorn box. Thank you for sharing.
I saw your other video clips using Simon Hopes Threading jig. It saved a lot of time. These tools need a lot of practice.
Nice job.
You aways make it look so easy! Thank you!
Excellent turner, thread chaser, and instructor. Cheers!
I always seem to have a big grin on my face as I watch your turning! Thank you !!!

Thank you for subscribing Deno!
Many thanks for this calm guide to chasing. I have almost all of the required bits needed to have a stab at it.
Than we look forward to see your first box! Good luck!
Wow I have wanted to try this for a long time, I am so thankful for this lesson!
More of your bowl machine videos..please

Thank you for giving your time and expertise, very enjoyable.

Lies probably would do a good job, but me holding the camera would make it a disaster...😅
Thank you Ronald, great lesson in woodturning zen
Excellent tutorial. Thank you
Excellent lesson, Ronald, thank you. I admire your skill. This is something I might try in the future.
Good Luck! Be careful, it's addictive...😀
Thanks for uploading the video, it was very informative. I'm going to have to give this a try instead of just doing a friction fit on mine.
Great video and very well timed!
Brilliant!
Great video again with detailed explanation, useful hints as well and a contented smile at the end 👍
Nothing more satisfying than thread chasing
And so it is! 🙂👍
I thought holly was too soft for threads . I use it for carvings. However after watching this video I will give my holly timber a go . Thanks

Hi Craig, well .... i have these in my webshop. But unfortunately i stopped shipping to the UK... 🙂

Hiya, what oil did you use on the threads? It looked like sewing machine oil.
Could i use a fine wax? Like Renaisance wax?
Thanks Debs
Hi Deb, it can basicly can be any kind of oil. It has to penetrate the wood, so a wax will not work.. Grtz Ronald
Is het mogelijk draad trekken bij 400 toeren?
Ja, maar dan moet je de streler sneller vooruit bewegen... is dus wel moeilijker...
Not on a harbor freight lathe. Slowest speed is nearly 600 RPM.
Well, that's a challenge than...🙂 speed thread chasing...😅
“Morning what?” In the cup?
Egg...🙂
Really enjoy your videos. Thanks.
