Allen Models Chloe runnning on air Pt. II - completed engine

- This is a quick followup to the original running on air video (at • Allen Models Chloe liv... ) which showed the bare chassis running on a treadmill. I have since integrated the treadmill into the test track so you can roll the engine onto it. (you can no longer pick up the engine, it weighs about 250 - 300 lbs, which is light for a live steamer...)
While you can't see the stephenson valve gear easily any longer, you can see on this side of the engine the valve-rod driven oil pump. On the other side is a crosshead driven water pump.
The occasion for running is having re-assembled the steam dome and needing to test the gaskets and other things for leaks. The hiss at the very beginning of the video is a leaky blowdown valve. This engine now runs and there is a video of its first run on steam here: • my Allen Models Chloe ... better video to come later.
Nice loco and vid!.. like your film work seen most of your vids... never do they let me down
@wi11y1960 yeah! I'd love to see some steam coming out of the chimney
Makes me wish I had my own engine. For now, I'm just borrowing engines, namely the Portola Valley Alpine Railroad's club SW1500. I had no clue that Ward's Chloe and this Chloe are the same.
It's a very beautiful machine!
Nice job. I need to build a test stand as well for a 260 Little Engine.
Would you happen to have a bleuprint or schematic of yourtest stand (part with roller bearings).
Thanks
Nice engine. It looks like it has a close resemblence to Disneyland's Fred Gurley.
How about a vid of it under steam?
👏👏👏parabéns, vou fazer uma também 🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃
thanks.
Nice!!!
at 0:27 what is that green box that is connected to the valve gear and is ratcheting around
8 years late, but better late than never I guess. The green box is a mechanical lubricator.
