- The new-for-2020 Skoda Octavia Estate is - not to spoil the video - bloody brilliant. I take it on a mammoth day trip to Wales to put it to the test. Can it contain a Greggs sausage roll? Can it smooth out that really awful bit of the M25? Can it beat the VW Golf at its own family car game? Is it a bit like Angela Merkel? Find out all this and more by watching. Thank you.
As someone from Czech republic, it's so nice to hear a foreign person pronounce "Octavia" and even try to pronounce "Škoda" the correct way
Love the Octavia. Think every version has been a decent alternative to the competition.
Think I prefer the interior design of this compared to the new Golf
Yeah, I feel Skoda's just quietly nailed pretty much every version - they've moved it quietly upmarket but it's always just nailed the brief
This is a predominantly 30% Audi and 70% VW and a car for life. I prefer the Superb but would rather have the new Octavia Rear lights. They will eventually be making the VRS model, now that will be interesting! Thanks fir the review
D Iqbal thanks for watching! Stay tuned, I’ll be running a new Octavia vRS in 2021
I love that they don't clutter the interieur with gloss black paint as everyone else and they care about how people use their cars. I think I'm ordering one next week to replace my 2017 CX5
5:51 ...that feeling when you try to stroke the hair that are no longer there... muscle memory ;)
Bastard... but true
You can turn lane assist off and you can change internal light colours plus i have 2litre 150 diesel dual clutch, Bristol to Manchester 70 mph@ 90mpg
I always have my fingers crossed for an Octavia when renting often renting cars in Czech-Land.
The ‘Old’ ones ride like an E-Class on some winter tyres. Even the 1.2 Turbo models feel more than adequate.
Don't Panic! It’s a Czech Bentley 😆

No, that’s would be a Superb 🤓
I know that god awful stretch of the M25 very well and it even turns my (usually) steadfast Volvo V40 into an unruly rattle box, so that Octavia sounds impressive!
How was the Greggs sausage roll? Very much enjoyed the Merkel reference.
Skoda Octavia, doing the jobs so Cayman doesn't have to! Best tag line ever me thinks. The perfect 3 car garage work horse. Reminds me of pug306gti 'slowest in its class' against Porsche, tvr, etc.
Haha, I've not heard that before. But yeah, honestly… I find that 90% of the driving I do is not for fun, so you may as well just have something that's good value and roomy.
One day I'll reply from the correct account
@@timrodierides speaking of not fun, not good value and not roomy, are you going to do a New 500e review?
newtona1 weirdly enough, I am! Flying to Italy in a few weeks (if it’s still allowed) to have a go
The most popular estate car in Europe, the Octavia Estate. A really practical car. Good to drive, good to use and nicely screwed together, with Skoda build quality now starting to creep past VW's.......
Were the headlights the normal led or the higher spec matrix. I'm actually ordering 1 tomorrow and was wondering if it is worth paying the extra for the matrix led. The price here in Ireland for the matrix is 1200 euro extra. I do a lot of late evening early morning driving so I like having good light's on the vehicle. Otherwise first time I've come across your video Tim and it's nice not listening to the usual crap during drives.
I don't know what some folks are on about with the Octavias looks. Even in white it looks quite nice in my opinion, i'd prefer grey or some shade of blue though.
What you think diesel automatic for taxi
But who wants to be normal? We are all inconvenienced millionaires, are we not?
Nah mate I'm just poor
Little point in getting the estate, no more useful space than the hatch. This has panoramic roof. The sweet point is the SE Technology 1.5, circa £22k.
Yes, a friend had the SE-L Estate, with the 1.5 Tsi engine and DSG auto box. A really nice car......
Is it worth it to upgrade to matrix light or not
I'm not sure - I never drove it at night. Sorry!
I wish I was sensible! I love an Octavia I do 😀
Well done on the Pakistani Welshman accent! Not an easy one to pull off that 🤣
Cayman is pretty practical too I guess 🤓
Helpful information
The juddery camera work and the weird voices - why though? So you drove to Wales and back and bought a sausage roll and achieved 49mpg. Amazing grace music was nice.
No BS - i like it
Just drove my diesel estate back from Devon.
Got an unbelievable 75 mpg out of it
Skoda is no BS from start to finish.....
Good video bro

@@johnennis4586 Thanks John, really appreciate it. YT had bunged a load of ads in - I've halved them now (I think…)
