clean up that grout really good then seal it with grout sealer with a couple or a few coats. use a foam brush. let the sealer dry between coats. a little time consuming but it will keep your grout from getting brown like it as before you cleaned it. if the grout does get dirty it will clean up much easier.

Hi Vanessa, agree it would have been nice to have more powerful unit. I think you need to step up to something like this to get noticeably more power amzn.to/3cqWmfA
It doesnt make easier the work, besides you have to put water every few minutes, if you take the jet of steam far it get there cold drops. The brush are small. Not a impressive tool the make magic easing your work. Better put oxiclean in the grout and leave over night, it easy.
I bought the bissell steam shot. As a 65 year old woman, I found it difficult to use. Holding button on was stressful. Seemed like you needed to be on the floor in order to use it on the floor. Any tips???
You can do this a lot quicker with a tooth brush and bleach, spray water on the grout, dip your tooth brush in the cup of bleach (don't fill the cup with bleach, just enough to dip the toothbrush in), wear gloves, spray water, clean off with a rag and Walla its clean. No cost at all and no electric bill. Another tip... if you have white silicone around your shower tray and its gone dirty, get some toilet paper and roll it length ways to form a strip, put some bleach on the dirty silicone, not much, then press the rolled toilet paper into the bleach and silicone, leave it 12 hrs and Walla, the dirt has gone and silicone is white again. Good Luck
But bleach disintegrates the grout. I used to use bleach on grout but not anymore as grout if porous and it has missing parts now. Learned recently that you should only use a pH neutral cleaner for grout. I hate grout and all issues with it.

When we built our house 13yrs ago we spoke to all of our friends about grout etc and really took on board their suggestions. We went with a medium to dark grey grout for our tiled areas. We don’t have many areas that are tiled, just the two toilets, bathroom and laundry. Everyday I clean the floors with an Aussie product called Koh, and once a week I hand scrub the tiles and grout using the Koh and after I finish with their new product called Protect that sanitises the area for up to 7 days. Once a fortnight or month I will get my steamer out and do the grout with that.
@@EverydayHomeRepairs I will admit, I’m human. Sometimes other stuff happens and I can’t get the proper scrubs done but hey, gotta have a life. It’s usually summertime when I get behind due to bloody dust storms here in Australia. We live in Country NSW, 5hrs from Sydney. It gets ridiculously hot and then we get dust.
I’ve have cleaned floor tile grout with bicarb and vinegar and an old toothbrush, it’s time consuming but so addictive as you see that grime lift off and it comes up almost brand new. (In case anyone is wondering, you sprinkle your bicarb generously into the grout lines, spray with vinegar and after the bubbling has subsided you gently scrub with the toothbrush.) Anyway, this steam method looks like it takes the same amount of time and has the same effect as the bicarb method. However, it is definitely less messy, and what I like is that you can do wall tiles - vinegar and bicarb doesn’t work as well on wall tiles because the solution slides off and you don’t get that deep bubbling reaction when the vinegar hits the bicarb. Thanks for the video, it’s exactly what I was looking for and I’m off to buy one, especially as I know you can buy replacement brushes! I reckon it might be good for window tracks, too!
Edit: I’ve just read a comment below that vinegar will destroy grout - after googling it is indeed true so all the more reason to get one! Thanks RUclips folk!
Absolutely the grout protector sits on the surface, stoping dirt from penetrating too deeply. Although the protector will start to ware away after a while, when you redo the grout protector, the grout cleaning will be much easier, then if you never protected it.e.g I’ve had my tiles down for two years and with a good weekly clean my grout still looks new, hope this helps.

Question and comment: great video, will this work for limescale on shower glass? I've tried everything including vinegar and can't get the glass "new" again Thanks
Hey Aaron, I know a lot of people swear by vinegar for just about any cleaning task. A mix of half vinegar and half water would work and might help to break up some of the stains. I don't have any personal experience with this but shouldn't hurt anything to try it out. Let me know how it works. 👍
Vinegar breaks down the calcium in the grout. Use a neutra ph cleaner. I just watched Retro Active Lifestyle video ‘How to clean grout’ and he explains it, he is a professional floor cleaner.

I’ve have cleaned floor tile grout with bicarb and vinegar and an old toothbrush, it’s time consuming but so addictive as you see that grime lift off and it comes up almost brand new. (In case anyone is wondering, you sprinkle your bicarb generously into the grout lines, spray with vinegar and after the bubbling has subsided you gently scrub with the toothbrush.)
Anyway, this steam method looks like it takes the same amount of time and has the same effect as the bicarb method.
Wow!! Great job cleaning. Please come to my house. 😁
Spray grout with grout cleaning solution first let sit 10 minutes to break up oils and dirt. And steamer will work better.
Does it make sense to seal the grout after you’ve cleaned it?
Absolutely the grout protector sits on the surface, stoping dirt from penetrating too deeply. Although the protector will start to ware away after a while, when you redo the grout protector, the grout cleaning will be much easier, then if you never protected it.e.g I’ve had my tiles down for two years and with a good weekly clean my grout still looks new, hope this helps.
1st time owner of flooring with grout. Any tips for grout as a preventative. Moving in soon
I am interested in the vacuum you used. Please advise. It looked sturdy. I will purchased the Bissell. Thanks!
That was just a Dyson V8 Animal handheld vacuum. Super handy 👍
@@EverydayHomeRepairs THANK YOU!!! I ordered the Bissell last night from your link and now I will order the vacuum!!! So happy I discovered your channel!!!
Question and comment: great video, will this work for limescale on shower glass? I've tried everything including vinegar and can't get the glass "new" again Thanks
Hey Vicki, not sure the steam shot would take off the limescale. Have you tried the "30%" industrial strength vinegar?
@@EverydayHomeRepairs thank you, I'll try that
Vicki our tile guy said he uses alcohol and heavy duty green scrubby pads to get haze off glass doors
@@EverydayHomeRepairs hi I tried the 30% vinegar but will try the alcohol and scrubber. Thanks
Boil water and put a Finish tablet until it dissolves. While still warm, use a non scratching sponge and clean glass
I vacume befor i clean floors or grout then clean.
TPS and floor cleaning hand brush. Used my Bissell floor STEAMER first then did grout again with TPS.
Not much of a teat. The grout isn't exactly dirty
What do you think of putting some vinegar on it 1st? Btw, nice vid. Thx
Vinegar will start to break down your grout and it'll make it crumble and disappear. Use a pH neutral cleaner for grout.
I’ve become a huge convert to steam cleaning. I have 3 of them in all different sizes, Rowenta handheld for clothing, Comforday handheld, and Dupray Neat which is more of a heavy duty cleaner but still under 200 dollars
Dang Warren! I will check out those different models and thanks for sharing. It would have been nice to have a little more power for sure.
@@EverydayHomeRepairs We bought the Neat by Dupray and it works fantastic! It was $150.00 but, in my humble opinion, well worth the money and it comes with quite a few accessories.
Love my Bissell, cleans around the toilet and is great in the kitchen as well. Nozzle never touches a thing, use the steam
I hope you're not using it at the base of the toilet. If it gets hot, you could melt the wax ring which would break the seal and make it leak...
Great job and thanks for sharing, I just bought one.
I bought one of those steam cleaners by bissell and it only holds 6 oz of water it did not work at all
How long does it take to cool down to refill?
@@moomoo0508 2 seconds but u should unplug it for 10 minutes or so first before u try to unscrew the cap because pressure is built up its almost like putting water in your car 😂if u dont wait it will get u and burn u . Once u refil it and plug it back up a light comes on when its ready .just dont get it from walmart
@@moomoo0508 watch bissell’s video. They just say to hold the lever until no more steam comes out, unplug, and refill. Nothing about letting it cool down.
Sometimes it's helpful to have some small amount of water mix with the steam. For really disgusting stuff that's stuck on. Turn the machine upside down for a few seconds to get a blast of scalding hot water. It works well.
It’s one of the best I’ve had! Makes cleaning fun!
