I imagine Lara Croft would be this rich brat who was into all kinds of extreme sports, sky diving, rock climbing, shooting, etc. got into tomb raiding, not for profit but just for the thrill, becoming well experienced and well travelled, and then gradually got into more dangerous situations with shady characters and rivals as she found expensive and mystical items everyone was looking for. The first tomb raids would be boring.
I never understood why people called the original Lara "sex appeal" I never saw her that way. Apparently making a female character look nice is "sex appeal"
But she was, on the surface, sex appeal. It's only when you played the games that you realised her character had nothing to do with being sexy. Heck, they could've made Lara ugly and it wouldn't affect her personality or the story but nobody wants to play as an ugly badass, everyone (me included) would prefer playing as a sexy badass. Isn't that sex appeal? Also you know... marketing.
lara was so far only sexualized during TR3, besides it was only in these renders but in-game you would never see her being all flirty or even doing awkward poses, even in the renders itself i have seen far worse, it all also stopped straight when TR4 was released
What annoys me most is how nobody complains about how Nathan Drake, Doom Guy, everyone in Gears of War, and Master Chief are power fantasy’s and are fucking hot. Does anyone complain?!? No. Because it’s ridiculous. The things they do are demanding. You wouldn’t see doom guy punching demons with scrawny ass arms and tiny legs. Who cares. It’s fucking fiction not a goddamn memoir. But as soon as a female character has curves or is created by a man she’s automatically sexualized. Not to mention this boring ass Lara wouldn’t be here without the creation from Toby Gard. He even said the only way to differentiate her from looking like a guy was to give her big hips and huge boobs. So fucking what. Notice how he wasn’t a perv about it. He did it bc the game demanded it. I’m so sad we’ll never get the real Lara fully back. You can’t be sexy just because anymore. It just sucks that this is an issue.
I think the issue with people saying the Core Design classics controlled better is the fact they were precise, predictable controls where Lara felt 'grounded' in her game world with a set of movement/platforming rules which didn't change. A bit of practise & the player could be leaping around knowing exactly how far she could jump & how to read the environment based on her move set. In the Crystal Dynamics games she's imprecise & climbs like Prince of Persia. She also had 'weight' in the classics as well, which is something the subsequent sequels all lost.
By & large I think natural progression of the franchise if Core hadn't screwed-up Angel of Darkness would have been to build on those foundations & aim to make Lara the most 'realistic' acrobatic game character in existence, with real weight & great physics involved.
@@cartermoth6447 hey man, that’s exactly what I’ve always thought. I feel like they should have doubled down on all the core elements of the previous games. Deeper, more complex, evolved climbing mechanics. Imagine gamified hand salt, pitons, ropes, balancing, hand climbing etc. Bigger more complicated and intricate levels and puzzles. Physics interactions.
Before the game came out, I thought the idea of being on an island and surviving might be cool, if enemies were scarce, it would have been much better.
It would've been, IF the game was about surviving. It's not. It's about killing everything and upgrading your equipment so you can kill them even harder. Nothing in the gameplay has got anything to do with survival. MINECRAFT is about survival.
these videos are really great. i always find myself rewatching these when bored and they always seem to cheer me up. thank you for working so hard on this series. can’t believe this doesn’t have more views.
This game gives you the illusion of freeroaming but your just being spoon fed what to do , where to go, what to pick up and how to escape. what annoys me is how they beat you over the head with realism then in the same instance, you can fast travel which breaks the verisimilitude of the world they are trying so hard to engrose us in. Lara is bland and uninteresting. shes a self insert character. I miss the old 90's lara and she hasn't been the same ever since CORE. Thanks for this review. It's cathartic.
I have to disagree. The last time we got the real and beloved Lara was in Underworld. After that, Lara was never seen again and instead a Young random took over the role of the Tomb Raider franchise
Damn nigga. That was some seriously deep stuff. I don't even play Tomb Raider and I feel outraged and confused at how games are made like this and just seem to fall so far from their legacy. I'm starting to feel the spirit of Instig8iveJournalism lives on in a new vessel. Only that vessel is black, and a bit of an alcohol enthusiast. Think I'm gonna go hit the bottle now, that ending is some emotional shit.
24:35 you forgot to mention that the guy dies because he went on the ship for some "important" tools, and when you get there he hands you a single screwdriver and a wrench my question is how Lara and anyone on the island managed to dismantle or create shit from salvage if they didn't even have those 2 basic tools and had to go on a sinking ship to get them, like those 2 items are the most common tools in existence edit: okay, never mind, you did mention it :D
Katniss Everdeen: island survivor. As someone who hadn't played a tomb raider game but knows the previous games this wasn't too bad, it was a little frustrating at times like shanty town and looking everywhere for that one collectible, the highest brightness was too low, the QTE’s and slide sections we're also kind of annoying. I also played underworld afterward. Okay, actually it's more like Uncharted (action adventure treasure collectathon) and DMC (a remake that angers fans) than I thought
I remember checking a Tomb Raider forum back in like 2009-10ish and reading about there being rumors of the next game being a survival horror game set in on an island with ghost like enemies. I have a feeling it would have been a lot more interesting than what we got. I mean we only got the island part of that.
bluumberry The dev team actually got somewhere with that concept, but eventually they lost their way and set out to focus on the survival aspect as the sole theme of the game. It sucks it turned out to be this bland, soulless and pretentious mess copying every popular AAA gaming trend, but at least some of the original reboot ideas were documented for the Final Hours digital book on Steam. Or just look for Tomb Raider Ascension anywhere else.
as it always was, reviews are bought and paid for - video game, movie, music, restaurant etc etc. just like search results on google, youtube, twitch and whatever else.
@@BrainDamageComedy while some of them are its not like thry can buy the 100s od sites and magazines that gave this game a good score without being discovered I think this is a case of the game that reviewers want to see but not gamers Thats why reviews are almost worthless the revuewers play so many games at the same time that their priorities when reviewing one isnt on the gameplay but on graphics story and theme
This really is an excellent review! I will say and admit that I did enjoy my playthrough of Tomb Raider 2013. However, I can also admit that the game gave me a greater appreciation for the older/classic Tomb Raider games. I do feel that the flaws in Tomb Raider 2013 that were pointed out in this video can also be said for many, many other games from the PS3/PS4 and Xbox 360/Xbox One eras.
@@TheGameStatistic Your just stuck in the past. Your bitter, you don't like change. You are all about the negativity dude. How is you shitting all over a game called a "review"? Anyone can do that. I have seen much better reviews than this, ones that have constructive criticism and knowledge about how to do a proper review. Now before you get off your high horse, I am not a huge fan of this game. I like the classics more, but this review was not very good in my opinion, but hey, you have earned another view 😁😂
chances are you have seen a better review. and i am bitter about these specific changes yes. If the game is bad its gonna warrant negativity. And insinuating theres a "proper" way to do a review? oof.
This channel is so underrated. You should have way more subscribers. Often your content reminds me of NakeyJakey's videos, like the way you digress and make comparisons to other games/movies. It's all very entertaining but also very accurate and you deserve more exposure and praise for what you're doing. Great analysis of TR 2013 BTW
Thank you, yours is the first review I've seen of this game that I actually agree with. I've wanted to be Lara since I was 7 years old and now they've utterly ruined her.
@@EvGBeats Yeah, it's so ironic. In their efforts to make "empowered women", they depowered one of the most powerful and influential female icons, a hero who used to be worth looking up to for boys and girls alike. People like "Jane's ass cheeks" up there can't see that this new agenda achieves the opposite of what they hope, saddling women with a victim mentality and a beaten-down belief that they are unable to achieve without blaming and tearing down others. 40% of the original Tomb Raider audience was female for a reason. They took away a true hero just to replace her with another generic "damaged female character". Nothing special at all anymore. Characters like classic Lara Croft would be a breath of fresh air these days.
@@YourFavRoadhog I know, right? It's completely nonsensical that people want to role play a british aristocrat that travels the world living impossible adventures just because of the thrill of the danger. People want to role play as the fat nerd, whose first mechanic in his game is to press a few buttons to remove the cheetos of his beard. It's not like the 3 most famous video games characters in the world aren't very realistic and not cartoonish at all, isn't it?
I love your reviews. Love the Tomb Raider series too so win/win. I feel different about this game in some ways. I think the story is okayish, and I do really like the island setting. On first play-through I enjoyed the game but I also hadnt played loads of Uncharted. The one thing that stuck out to me as shit was all the side characters and Mathias as a villain. He would have been so much better as a charismatic Christopher Lee in Wicker man type leader. A bit of swauveness, you know... something fun. Wasted opportunity. I like your idea for integrating the story better through gameplay. Ill say Rise opens up much better, allows far more moments of exploration and adds more to the fire fights, the survivor mode being dlc was a missed opportunity. Unfortunately in that game Lara is even more humourless (if thats possible). They put so much money into this game, but they seem to have been overly passionate about Lara being this character she wasnt before, like the master-chief
Sorry dude I gotta get this out! what leaves a sour taste in mine and other peoples minds is that they seem "reactive" about the character and story, seeing themselves as "fixing" her problematic "sex appeal" which no Tomb Raider fan has ever had a problem with (yes I speak for every one of them), and basically they wanted to rope in a load of new players by saying hey dont worry, this isnt the lara you know. I think we can see by their own admission that this approach didnt translate to expected sales. I cant deny them a shot at it. For them to double down on this "fuck the old lara" attitude in a second game though, is lunacy. They've now at best split the fan base. Its similiar to James Bond, where you tweak him and update a little bit, but for fucks sake respect the series. Dont poo poo Sean Connery so you can have him drink heinneken now. Or be a woman. Or whatever. Tangent. But theres something mean spirited about the reboot for sure. 2013 is best when its over: more ambient.
@@grainygamingor4452 I know I'm 4 years latw but it's intresting that their fix to this sexy lara thing was to make her a girl out of her depth for three games. Constantly screaming and sliding and get beat up and what not. That in comparison to a girl who flips over dinosaurs and trick flips dudes. I dunno seems a bit reductionist.
What a great series of video reviews. The efforts you’ve made to put the whole Tomb Raider series in context, make your points here much stronger. I appreciate all your work. Thank you. I hate that they nerfed most of the level design in “Anniversary”, and added QuickTime events. They messed up the iconic T-Rex moment, which seems a bit criminal. I played all the Tomb Raiders from 1-4 as they were released and they were my gaming crack. I skipped “Chronicles” and tried really hard to like “Angel”, but that game was a sad day for the franchise. I didn’t like “Legend” and felt that “Anniversary” was a missed opportunity. You really nailed it with your review of “Underworld”, a modern Tomb Raider with fluid controls, updated graphics and some real tombs to raid. Now that we have such graphical power at our disposal with these modern machines, there is no reason why the actual tomb exploration mechanic wouldn’t work. “Shadow” actually seems like a step in the right direction, more exploration, stronger emphasis on puzzles, better stealth, less combat and the selectable difficulty setting to stop the game being too dumbed down. But they still don’t seem to know what to do with the skill tree, hunting mechanic and item collection. I’ve avoided all the other reboot games, so the game mechanics in “Shadow” are fresh to me. I can see why people that played “2013” and “Rise” would be disappointed with “Shadow”.
To me the best tomb raider game for the controls was legend/anniversary. The best story was angel of darkness, and the best puzzles was the last revelation. This game changed none of my choices.
Ok. So im back, it's late at night and im trying to finish this video and im at the part where you explain what could have been done to improve the writing and lara's change - BRILLIANT! It really is brilliant and it would have made so much sense and would have actually respected the old games a bit. Very nicely done, sir! My hat is off
I am extremely late to all of your TR videos (was feeling nostalgic for TR, and this resulted in me finding your channel), and was wondering if you ever reviewed GoL and ToO, but it appears there's a brief one hidden in here. I can only assume you liked them as little side games based on what little you said about them?
I tried to love this game really hard, but I could not stand it after multiple hours of slogging through it. It represents everything I hate in games in one package. At least I should be thankful, because I went back and played some of the classic games in the series recently and I became a fan.
I watched all 1 hour and 17 minutes of this and by the end I am mostly convinced. I must say I did enjoy playing Tomb Raider 2013, and I particularly liked being able to move about in the carefully detailed environments, especially at the parts where control was given to the player. I felt that it was an interactive experience because I could choose where to focus my attention on and move Lara towards points of interest. That's not something that could be replicated in a movie. So indeed, if more control and incentive was given to the player to explore it might have been a lot better of a game. I personally didn't take too much issue with the shooting segments and felt that they were functional, and the parts where we get to move about and explore a small area I never rushed through and took the time to look about and hunt some animals and gather some materials. You are right that games have been going too far in focusing on visuals and cinematography in the past decade, but let's hope it's just a phase and all that technology and expertise would help make the future game better when mechanics that make video games great as a medium are pushed to their limit. I do wonder what you think about Kingdom Come?
Thank you for making this. I cannot loathe this game enough, growing up with the original Lara. Even the last trilogy of games was... y'know, alright. But oh my GOD this game is terrible.
This is the most honest and researched review of this awful game I’ve seen on RUclips.I almost think the game doesn’t deserve it.Keep up the good work man
This game is super hollow. Thank you for exposing that. Now that this survivor bs trilogy is over..I hope they go back to the tr underworld style of play
7 minutes into the review and I'm glad I've found someone else who thinks this TR series is SO bad, besides being a SO BAD tomb raider game. What is most disappointing to me is not that this reboot has NOTHING to do with exploring or tomb raiding or puzzle solving but that there is no game out there that is filling that gap for me. i hope that after shadow... Nah, i don't think so.
I never remember this entry fondly - I was so disappointed by the lack of puzzling that I haven't gone back after my first playthrough. I will say though....I'm the asshole always using the bow
Yeah, it's not a Tomb Raider game. Clearly. And we probably will never ever have a real Tomb Raider in the likes of the first trilogy and 4. It is what it is.
I liked this game for the wrong reason. I played this on its launch day, after enduring Colonial Marines which dick punched me. It didn't sink in how disappointing it was until my 2nd playthrough. (Didn't happen with ROTTR though.)
Okaaaayyyy, not once did any of the points presented here occur to me as I played this game. I enjoyed. Simply turned it on and enjoyed it. ... I take that back - I never got lost in this game like I did in the first game.
Hey if that island is closer to the eastern asian continents wouldn't there be more Asian men if not all of them in the cult? Not strangely weird Americans and some Russians. It would make sense geographically.
Legend, Anniversary, and Underworld are all games that I love. Sure they have problems, but their ambiance, puzzles, and more are completely unmatched. I've been telling people for years; this new reboot series isn't bad, but it's about as bland and safe as you can get. Underworld was really good and they could have shaped it into something even better for the sequel. Alas, it was never meant to be. Consider me a new subscriber, your honest videos got me rollin on the floor!
Excellent review. :) I just finished the whole trilogy and have to say, the graphics were the best part. This first game is the dreariest one, with Shadow ironically being the brightest.
I have never played this game or any of the other games but I do have to say some games do a more cinematic approach to story telling very well. Devil may cry 5 is a good example there are a ton of cutscenes in that game and it works well. Honestly in a generation where so many games won't even attempt a story mode nowadays and choose to just be another competitive multiplayer shooter all the time I prefer a more cinematic pace. I love a good heavily story driven game there are not enough of them nowadays.
As to your point about movement in the 1st few games, it's not that the newer games don't have more fluid controls, and better feeling, too. It's just that once you got used to them, you could be extremely surgical with your gameplay. Seeing as it was a grid layout and lara moved very consistently within that grid, I never ever missed a jump, I got to have a level of deliberate control that the newer games didn't have as much of. Plus the fact that you were able to interact with absolutely every bit of terrain, as in it felt like a totally defined environment where you had full agency. You never felt like your actions were scripted, you never encountered ledges you weren't able to grab for no good reason, if it was there you could grab it. And within that grid I can fully interact with in whichever way I chose, I can still, after all these years, instinctively time a jump so that it will gain the most distance, manipulate lara so she will jump onto a lower opening on a wall instead of slamming face first into it, etc. When I jump, I know exactly where she's gonna land. Of course I prefer Anniversary's controls, but I suppose that's why people like the old controls. It leads to a more deliberate gameplay. On pc of course.
I suffered through the first game, started the 2nd but just couldnt get through it. Youve perfectly encapsulated all the issues i had with this new iteration of Lara. Bravo.
@@TheGameStatistic from what I remember... Tomb Raider Underworld - 5:15 This Video - 1:51 and 25:13 ROTTR - 3:48 those are the ones off the top of my head.
what i especially like about this game.... they tried to show Lara as a weak character and made her first kill the biggest shock for her just to kill her a hole military unit xD
I was a big fan of the first games from the 90's, played them a lot on PS1. Not too familiar with the reboots from the mid 2000's but might definitely try "Angels" and "Underworld" eventually. I am actually playing this 2013 version and enjoying it, I have a version including all DLC's so there is a little more on the puzzle and exploration sides. Now I wish there were more exploration and less slaughter of enemies, it gets mega tiring and silly on the long run, you get to kill more enemies than in most military shooters. Some environment looks gorgeous even if you are not rewarded enough for exploration. You made valid points thorough this review but still enjoying my play-through and I hope the sequels get some of these "concerns" fixed (WIll try Rise soon).
"Did you really have those memories to begin with?" Excellent question when considering younger gamers aren't going to experience the older franchise games unless they're raised from a very young age to experience them firsthand before being handed a "AAA" title. They're always worried about parental guidance, this is an actual case where it's needed, to explain away this dumb bullshit video game writing direction the industry decided to take because dumb cunts thought it wise. We had the luxury of being born in a time when new innovative games were coming out in droves, we have the SNES, Playstation, N64, and SEGA to thank for that, and the games that came out on those systems are taken for granted today. We owe it to our next generation to keep those consoles alive and in working order so our grandkids don't have to experience this same level of degradation and drugery as these claimed "AAA" titles put us through, this gives our younger generations at least a chance to experience what a video game SHOULD be.
PC is the platform to game on - backwards compatibility is in built in almost all cases plus emulation of everything from present to all past generations.
let's be real, the most damaging thing to a society, a free and open society, was Political Correctness, and it's no accident, it's promoted heavily, it's actually behavior modification via media, it's a social science, the masses mimic what's drummed into them via media and live it out, and thus 2017 modern society, critical thinking, original ideas, individualistic tendencies are almost gone, and the narrator of this video is absolutely correct, it's all encompassing, even affecting video games and classics such as TR.

I honestly don't even know why there was such a push to turn Lara. She was already one of the greatest feminist icons of all time, representing a strong, intelligent, optimistic, charismatic, cunning, and opportunistic woman that did what she wanted, the way she wanted, and for her own gain. She seized every opportunity given to her and basically laughed in the face of danger in some sort of psychotic self-destructive rush for adventure. She was a tomboy that also had a twinkle in her eye for the unknown, a seemingly unquenchable thirst for knowledge. How could a woman have possibly fucked up her character? She was hand-delivered personally to you! The only way she even deviates from the modern archetype is that she's conventionally attractive as opposed to the fucking orcs that get passed off as strong female characters nowadays.

Anyway, I just got done watching this review, as well as your reviews of all the other TR games. Personally, I prefer this game to Legend and maybe even Underworld. I like the action in it, and think it does cover shooting better than some other games that have it, like Uncharted. But it’s nowhere near as good as classic Tomb Raider. I’d like a sequel to AoD. Well I swear there is a fucking video online, where the developers comment on TR Anniversary, saying that Lara cannot get impaled by these spikes(which were replaced by spears), because it is too brutal to watch. And here you go, few years later, Lara, covered in blood, gets impaled every few minutes. Now that is pathetic.
It felt like going mad when people who didn't like the good games of the series that came before praised this abomination. Tomb Raider used to have great platforming and puzzle mechanics and a likeable adrenalie junkie as the main protagonist and now...shooty shooty bang bang with Gollum Lara that can't decide if she preys on the local inhabitants of an island she has invaded or is crying about her fate. Hey borderline lady, you're not the victim here, you're choping your axe in the heads of people defending their home from behind, make up your mind already or, I don't know...do a little tomb raiding? I wouldn't rant about this game if this was the first try on the franchise of a new studio, everybody starts somewhere and every studio has their streghts and weaknesses they work with, but...this is the same studio who made the Legend trilogy and the Soul Reaver games, there has to be set another standards than a new team since you got a great formula that was faithfull enough to the franchise, modernized it in a great way and set the series apart from the samy shooty shit of the industry, you made great games, I still love Legend, Underworld and epecially Anniversary. And then it seems like a downgrade contest, looking over to Ubisoft that had the Prince of Persia games with great platforming, combat and puzzles who then made Assassin's Creed which...also technically had platforming and combat...in a way. Or they thought, it's 2013 and Capcom is pissing of the DMC fans, how could we top that with one of our franchises? Again, I wouldn't say anything if the previous games weren't made in the same house, even if the people change that stuff is still on some repo, TR2013 is still technically a successor in terms of mechanics and shoud only do that, get better or at least as good, build up on the roots but don't make a completly different game. What would Gears of War fans say if one game of the series is suddenly the main character alone in some caves doing platforming and avoiding traps? The same TR fans say when their main character suddenly goes on a killing spree that would put Mike Myers, Freddy Kruger and the rest of them to shame...sooo, it's good to see here some sanity over these video series about this once great series with about the same pros and cons about the individual games and an overal fair and comprehensible verdict about the single games, I could subscribe, thank you! And yes, please bring the real Lara back, this one is just weird...
The lack of puzzles and the oversaturation of moving set pieces left me missing the Anniversary Edition.

At least change the name to "Optional Tomb Raider"
Before the game came out, I thought the idea of being on an island and surviving might be cool, if enemies were scarce, it would have been much better.
It would've been, IF the game was about surviving. It's not. It's about killing everything and upgrading your equipment so you can kill them even harder. Nothing in the gameplay has got anything to do with survival. MINECRAFT is about survival.

I'm rather impressed you made a watchable hour out of it given how sterile and uninspired this game feels. It's just so charmless...
enjoyed the review a lot more than the game.
Say hello to Crystal Dynamics, where ideas come to die.
It's cathartic.
jumps 30 foot gap but cant climb a 3 foot railing...
I have to disagree. The last time we got the real and beloved Lara was in Underworld. After that, Lara was never seen again and instead a Young random took over the role of the Tomb Raider franchise
I honestly don’t think I ever fast traveled. It was kinda unnecessary
Well said
Damn nigga. That was some seriously deep stuff. I don't even play Tomb Raider and I feel outraged and confused at how games are made like this and just seem to fall so far from their legacy.

Anyone else eating popcorn to this? 😂
24:35 you forgot to mention that the guy dies because he went on the ship for some "important" tools, and when you get there he hands you a single screwdriver and a wrench
my question is how Lara and anyone on the island managed to dismantle or create shit from salvage if they didn't even have those 2 basic tools and had to go on a sinking ship to get them, like those 2 items are the most common tools in existence
edit: okay, never mind, you did mention it :D
I still like the original game's controls. They allowed for cautious and deliberate movements while keeping the player from blowing through the level.
Or just look for Tomb Raider Ascension anywhere else.
the ghost enemies are in the final act of the game
I love this video. I just beat the game and I couldn’t believe it has the ratings it does. It was a trash game and I feel like I wasted my time.

This really is an excellent review!
I will say and admit that I did enjoy my playthrough of Tomb Raider 2013. However, I can also admit that the game gave me a greater appreciation for the older/classic Tomb Raider games. I do feel that the flaws in Tomb Raider 2013 that were pointed out in this video can also be said for many, many other games from the PS3/PS4 and Xbox 360/Xbox One eras.
pretty accurate. Modern gaming is a travesty
not all modern games are bad, but this one, yes that one makes me vomit
they made their version of uncharted and then stuck a TR label on it...
its so much more than that. like the more i play it. the more i can articulate why its fucking garbage
@@TheGameStatistic Your just stuck in the past. Your bitter, you don't like change. You are all about the negativity dude. How is you shitting all over a game called a "review"? Anyone can do that. Fully agree
How did we go from Underworld to THIS!?
This isn't Tomb raider anymore. It's Uncharted with a whinny, annoying bitch main character. I miss old Lara...😢😭
He's right this game sucks for a Tomb Raider game.
Thank you, yours is the first review I've seen of this game that I actually agree with. I've wanted to be Lara since I was 7 years old and now they've utterly ruined her.
She was strong and cool character in the old games. They ruined her completely.
Making her more realistic and less like a holywood movie star has now ruined her.. okay
@@YourFavRoadhog Yep, it has. She sucks now.
It shouldn't be called tomb raider. And I assume you're talking about halo 5 at the end.

I know I'm 4 years latw but it's intresting that their fix to this sexy lara thing was to make her a girl out of her depth for three games.

You shouldn’t, guys like him are just pulling stuff out of their asses
Lara still seemed like Lara in the Legend trilogy. She still looked and sounded great.
You made very great valid points but I still enjoyed the game and I'd definitely change it if I could

Thank you for your generous review.
This game was free on steam recently. I downloaded it. I agree with this review.
Ive been waiting for this day.
I love this video. Thank you!
Hey if that island is closer to the eastern asian continents wouldn't there be more Asian men if not all of them in the cult? Not strangely weird Americans and some Russians. It would make sense geographically.
They didn’t want a white woman massacring a load of Asian men lol. So obviously it has to be white guys.
Welcome!
Excellent review. :) I just finished the whole trilogy and have to say, the graphics were the best part. This first game is the dreariest one, with Shadow ironically being the brightest.
I stopped playing it after I realized you couldn't avoid combat, glad I didn't play the rest from what I can see...
Lol @ the dogs at 6:23. They're cute!

She didn't need to be turned into a damsel in distress and getting enough sh#t kicked out of her to pass for character development
As you said, she already was a feminist icon.... so how can they "push to turn" her to feminism?

Well I swear there is a fucking video online, where the developers comment on TR Anniversary, saying that Lara cannot get impaled by these spikes(which were replaced by spears), because it is too brutal to watch. And here you go, few years later, Lara, covered in blood, gets impaled every few minutes. Now that is pathetic.
Tomb Raider Anniversary had a T rating so they couldn't do it. The reboot has an M rating and can.
Um I grew up with and loved the old games yet this reboot and rise are my favorites
For me Tomb Raider ended with Underworld
