Also the grub screws in the bridge would push out so I dipped them in some LocTite and ran them back in to keep the bridge intonated (I needed to back it out farther than the low E would do on its own).

I love my Zach Myers. There's nothing wrong with the tuners. The only tuning issues are when the strings are not properly anchored to the tuning posts and stretched, just like any other guitar.
I put USA PRS nuts on all my SE's and they instantly become rock solid in the tuning department. I'm not sure if they are cut for 9's or something, but I play 10's and they always bind in the SE nut. My ZM went out of tune horribly when I first got it.. Dropped in a USA nut, now it rivals the tuning stability of my Core PRS's!
I actually just grabbed the SE semihollow today (not this model, but the custom 22). I ended up watching some "Official" PRS videos and they mentioned that nearly all PRS SE guitars come set up for 9s stock. So that definitely seems like it's the case.

Semi-hollows are great for metal. The added low end sounds awesome. Why they often aren’t used for metal however is due to the amount of feedback that happens at stage volumes with the amount of gain needed for metal.

Stock tuners were horrible. I put Kluson Revolution non collared locking tuners (black) on mine. Found them on Amazon shipped from a music store in Madison, Wisconsin. $112 w/tax. 19:1 and they are way better than the stock tuners. pin.it/7hNimay You’ll need to use the original screws though/Kluson screws are to tiny. Weird because you would think the screws for tuners would not be 9 different sizes from 50 companies. Dumb. Also the black trim collar on top is very tight. I’d take a dowel Rod and sand it open a bit. As far as staying in tune, 1) if you bash the string so hard it bends 2 inches it’s going to shift pitch😂🤭. 2) You have to stretch the strings (not just once) until it no longer goes flat when you stretch it. Most people don’t know this.
@@LambAndTheDragon those tuners are awesome! I put the chrome ones on my Epi SG and tuning stability is so much better. Stretching strings is also a must no matter which guitar.

The tuning issues are more likely the nut. Nut files are crazy expensive but properly cutting and lubrication the slots will fix it. The pitch drift on the low E is I suppose due to the scale length??? Maybe a larger string for more tension would solve it. Anyway it's beautuful, but the tuning issues are a no go for me.
First off, cool seeing my name flash past in your video. Second, with the 24.5 scale you will run into more and more pitch drift the more you tune down. I don't go lower than D on my low string. I did add locking tuners, but it was more for convenience than to correct any tuning issues. That being said, mine is from when they were still made in Korea. I bet a new nut would do wonders on this particular instrument .
Please, in future reviews try to talk a little bit of the feeling of the frets (in this case, hypothetical x Jumbo frets vs this unspecified frets...). I think this is SUPER important when you talk about guitars. Good video btw...as always! (:
Great video!! I just got mine last month and I can't put it down! hehe I agree with you on all of your opinions, but I did get (maybe luck?) better tuners and they stay tuned even with my heavy playing style (1.5mm picks, too). But I did see some people talking about upgrading the tuners with the Phase 3/Vintage PRS SE Locking tuners. They are exactly the same, but with white pegs instead of the blacks. Also, the nut is the same one that comes with the Core models, so no need to upgrade them unless you have a different taste. Cheers, bro!
I had a similar tuning problem with my first SE Custom 24. I had locking tuners installed but that damn G string just didn’t want to cooperate. It’s definitely gotta be a nut thing, maybe it’s a thing with SE’s? I don’t have this problem on my S2 and I DEFINITELY don’t have this problem with my Floyd Custom 24.
I had a core custom 24, 10 top. Owned it for 20 years. Sold it last year after struggling with tuning the whole time I owned it. It never kept its tuning. It had this ice pick shrill sound also. After 20 years I finally got rid of it and bought an ESP EII Eclipse. Best decision I've ever made.
If this was your own guitar I would suggest Kluson G Revolution tuners since the shape is the same. That’s what I did for mine. Loved it ever since. So much so that my ZM is my number 1 out of all my other guitars.
I've had mine for about 3 weeks now, it's amazing, every single part... but the tuners. My nut is cut well, no problems but the tuners aren't as precise as I hoped and aren't locking. That's an easy fix though if it continues once I change strings (yes, should have already done that). I haven't recorded with the pickups, they do sound great live but I'm definitely curious. For the money I wouldn't care if it came without tuners, I actually like the neck better than the one on my core in many ways. Great review!
Is it weird to say I find this guitar forgiving? Like I am pretty novice and when I played this over my starter guitars it seems to play everything really well. Like if I make what I know would sound like a mistake on my Epiphone it doesn't sound bad on this one. I am happy with it.
I bet the pitch drift comes from the scale length. 24,5" are even shorter than a standard LPs. I'd love to own this guitar, but the tuning issues and the drift let me reconsider a purchase decision.
I saw an SE Pauls Guitar with the bushing for the tailpiece actually lifting out of the guitar. Sounds like it might be happening slightly on this. Shouldn't have that many tuning problems.
❤️❤️❤️

You should try and find the unicorn of guitar pickups the 58/15 LT and slap those in this guitar.
That black stone cherry riff 🤘🏻
Please do a review review of LTD EC -1000 Piezo!
C&M Music in Kenner, LA has them in Natural. It exclusive. Ebay, Reverb.
Looks nice. I would fill the body with picks
It's the tuners, Hunter. Those are cheap imitations of Klusons which are already known to be so so when staying in tune.
Agree and commented on those. For a $1000 import it's a serious flaw.
I second this. Plus, back in the day the SE nuts were garbage. Not sure if it is still the case. But basically Myers SE are known for tuning issues
It’s the nut most likely
Stock tuners were horrible.
I put Kluson Revolution non collared locking tuners (black) on mine. Found them on Amazon shipped from a music store in Madison, Wisconsin. $112 w/tax. 19:1 and they are way better than the stock tuners.

You’ll need to use the original screws though/Kluson screws are to tiny.
The demo was very shinedown inspired but you made it your own. Nice job man!
I bought this guitar last night and wowww
I’ve wanted one of these for a few years now. Finally got one thanks to , A certain store that is going out of business that rhymes with Dan Bash, for $749!?!?!?!! I’ll wait to see if I swap the pickups for a Dimarzio super distortion (bridge) and 36th PAF neck.
I bought one last month. Serious machine
Gets ZM Sig, plays BSC riffs...favorite episode yet.
24.5" scale isn't exactly djent friendly on the low e string, but it sure sounds good for rock!

Didn’t expect you to be into shinedown but I’m not complaining
Ordered mine weeks ago. Don’t inspect in...well, for a number of weeks. Hopefully before May. Each week due to come in, each week pushed back.
3:17 Thought you were going for Fly From The Inside for a second
EDIT: Just got to 5:12 lol
The tuning issues are more likely the nut. Nut files are crazy expensive but properly cutting and lubrication the slots will fix it. The pitch drift on the low E is I suppose due to the scale length??? Maybe a larger string for more tension would solve it. Anyway it's beautuful, but the tuning issues are a no go for me.
They should add the knobs to the Tremonti too... nothing wrong with the ones it has, these are just more core PRS-essy
For sure needs a good string stretch and nut file / lube
LOVE YEARING YOU PLAY TREMONTSTER RIFFS
First off, cool seeing my name flash past in your video. Second, with the 24.5 scale you will run into more and more pitch drift the more you tune down. I don't go lower than D on my low string. I did add locking tuners, but it was more for convenience than to correct any tuning issues. That being said, mine is from when they were still made in Korea. I bet a new nut would do wonders on this particular instrument .
When I had the other I had to lock my strings. Now I want that guitar again but the one you have.
Please, in future reviews try to talk a little bit of the feeling of the frets (in this case, hypothetical x Jumbo frets vs this unspecified frets...). I think this is SUPER important when you talk about guitars. Good video btw...as always! (:
Great video!! I just got mine last month and I can't put it down! hehe
I agree with you on all of your opinions, but I did get (maybe luck?) better tuners and they stay tuned even with my heavy playing style (1.5mm picks, too).
I wanna get one and customize the finish. Not feeling the light blue but everything else is lovely
I have this guitar and it’s amazing! Just swap the nut and tuners and she’s a beast!
Do you have any good recommendations for tuners?
Need to get you some Dean Cadillac chugs! No question, that thing will chug.
Discord squad!!
YES Mine did the same thing
My semi hollow is my go to for low tuned chugging. I feel like it adds more low end? Whatever it is, it sounds pretty awesome.
Thanks for giving us your honest opinion on this guitar 🤘🤘. Shit like this is exactly why I subscribed 🤘🤘🖕❤️
I bet the pitch drift comes from the scale length. 24,5" are even shorter than a standard LPs. I'd love to own this guitar, but the tuning issues and the drift let me reconsider a purchase decision.
Which one would you recommend instead?
I saw an SE Pauls Guitar with the bushing for the tailpiece actually lifting out of the guitar. Sounds like it might be happening slightly on this. Shouldn't have that many tuning problems.
And Cort makes them.
