    How is it even possible that I just found out about you guys. Literally yesterday, and I'm watching my way through the entire catalog in every spare moment. I love your style and content, how much you guys love each other, and really just about everything you do. I just can't say enough great things. I'll be here into the future, let me know if I can help. Early army retired camping dad over here, and fellow Savotta nerd.

    Great tip Joe, that makes so much sense. They are probably the stakes we overlook the most, in favour of the lightweight alloy ones. The firelighting idea would be useful in wet conditions. Thanks for sharing buddy 👣👣👣👍👍

    Hello from Northern Minnesota! Thanks for the tip...I just ordered a 6 pack of the Coleman tent stakes off Amazon for only $5.99. I'm embarrassed to admit that I have been using the "Squared with Jesus" tent stakes for the last 45 years...sooooo...it's never too late to learn something new.

      Hey 👋
      The coleman ones are great. Also...45 years ! That's some dave goggins' mental discipline right there. Hope you the new ones make a difference on your next trip 🤜🤛

    Another great one!
    I use like 900 of the aluminum stick (MSR style) stakes when I set up camp, both for staking into the ground and for toggles and quick releases on ridgelines and the like. I might benefit from adding a couple of the plastic ones for what actually does get driven into the ground, and maybe carry something else smaller for toggles instead. Got me thinking!

    Have you ever tried those Savotta heavy duty tent stakes? They look a bit overkill for a tarp but what’s your opinion on those?

    • @inforestsandlands
      @inforestsandlands  26 дней назад

      @@hugot99 they are much too big for a tarp. They are meant for those big military and sauna tents they make.

    Hmmm, I bet those yellow stakes won't work on the Arizona, Nevada terrain. They break when driving into the concrete dirt known as Caliche. I recommend using anything other than aluminium and I cannot stand hog stakes, or Shepard hook styles. My goto stakes are the 8-12 inch steel ones with eyelet for pulling. Ideal for rough terrain and those pesky small boulders.

    I personally use OEX aluminium 1s. They were a rush buy when we found 1 of our tents peg bags was absent, however I liked them so much they are now part of my permanent kit.

      I use them a lot for tuff ground with a lot of sediment. But if you can snap a pair of these up somewhere they are worth it for the ease
