Best video on how to install AC components I’m convinced I can do this on my own been suffering two hot summers with out AC but now I’m finna buy this kit nd get cooled down during Cali heat waves
couple of years ago one of my airpods fell into the vents of the dashboard, interesting to see all the work it would take if I were to want to get it from there
@@va197653 one last question..what if our air compressor is on the opposite side of factory...can we get custom length hoses?..I'm installing a custom mid mount serpentine kit for my Chevy 305..5.0
@@Santos-qn2ob Yes we can do that but if you wanted us to make you custom hoses we would need some kind of a sample to work off of. or you can purchase one of our universal hoses kits and it will come with hoses in bulk (by the foot, uncrimped) and a various assortment of fittings. you can use this kit to route and mock up the hoses and fittings that works best with your setup, then send us the hoses and fittings (mocked up) and we would properly crimp them and send them back to you.
@Vintage Air Inc - Is it possible to use the vintage air unit that mounts to the firewall in place of my original a/c heater box and use my original duct work under the dash? I know I'll need some of the various components and brackets and such but I don't feel like I need to use all the adapter pieces for the vents/duct unless I'm just misunderstanding and you have to. I have a El Camino so it's half a car to cool down.
What Dynamat and silicone are you using? Any part numbers or links would be greatly appreciated. Also where does the Dynamat goes? On the inside of the block off plate were the evaporator unit mounts to?
We used Dynamat Xtreme part # 46135-VIP we generally use all weather 100% silicone caulking. Also its best to insulate the entire firewall to keep hot air from infiltrating the cabin. In the instructions it shows the insulation only on the firewall cover (inside) but the vehicle would greatly benefit with as much insulation you can install.
I am currently doing this project on a Regal. NOTE: It is IMPOSSIBLE to remove the inner fender well without cutting into the wheel well to access the bottom-most bolts attaching it to the body (Under the factory AC box). Plan to do a little plastic welding, patching, or cut very neat holes and use rubber body panel/floor plugs to close them up when done. On a regal- most steps are very similar. The trim pieces and dash inside a regal have slight variations, but if you can safely take apart your dash, you'll do just fine. The vent set up is generally the same and the Vintage Air kit for the Regal should have all the vehicle-specific connections and fittings
The best way to find a dealer nearby is to visit our website www.vintageair.com then click on the "distributors" button. then enter in the first three digits of your zip code and a list of nearby dealers/installers will pop up.
for any technical assistance please reach out to our technical support team at 210-654-7171 or tech@vintageair.com and they will help you get this figured out!
Honestly, probably better. OEM vehicles use hard plenums that take some pretty long paths not to mention the reduced airflow through a cabin air filter. Our units will generally have a simple duct hose that are routed for the best flow path. and not a cabin air filter to reduce the CFM.
Unfortunately no, we do not offer a model specific kit for this vehicle. However we do offer a few universal type units that will fit in just about any vehicle, to get started please reach out to our sales team at 210-654-7171 or sales@vintageair.com and they will ask you some questions about the vehicle and help put together a kit that will best fit your needs. The best way to locate an installer is to visit our website www.vintageair.com then click on the "distributors" button then you would enter the first 3 digits of your zip code and any nearby dealers will pop up.
These kits will only be used for the application listed, if there was another kit for the mailbu's it would be a separate kit made at a later date. cosmetically there are similar but when it comes to mounting all the components there will be deviations.
Vintage Air released the Regal/Grand National kit. My Regal has a juiced-up Buick 455 and needs extra room up against the stock AC box. The vintage air G Body Regal kit is the perfect solution and really cleans up my engine bay. My high-performance, Stage 2+ 455 Regal will EAT UP a Grand National! And it has wonderful working vents, heat, and AC for those hotter days, too! Install of the Vintage Air system for Regal currently in progress as of Jan 2023
the only kit that is different between the turbo and non turbo applications is the condenser kit due to core support deviations. all other kits within the complete kit the same (turbo/non turbo)
Vintage air website also shows 2 different hose options (get the new hoses, for sure) - one for the turbo and one non-turbo. Get the correct one for your application. My Regal lost the 6 cyl decades ago and now rocks a Buick 455 big block...but my original set up was non-turbo. I got the non-turbo hoses and condenser and everything is sized perfectly. The condenser install is dead-on and fits perfectly. The evaporator kit is the same for Regals across the board. Regal interiors/dashes are different from the Monte. Follow the instructions that come with the Vintage AC system and use this video as a supplemental guide.
Unfortunately, we do not perform install's. If looking for an installer please visit our website www.vintageair.com then click on the "distributors" tab then enter the first 3 digits of your zip code and any nearby dealers will pop up.
The only thing I don't like about this kit is it doesn't have a FRESH AIR intake. It only recirculates cabin air. What if my wife farts? I don't want 20* cold air coming in the car when I have to roll my windows down. I want warm fresh air ducted in the cabin to get the stinky air out.
Instructions should be in color at least on the pdf. Instructions are kind of confusing, show where o rings go that part shouldn’t be skipped in the video because the instructions also don’t show it and it’s very easy to glance over.
Now that's how you make a how-to video!! Well done. Great filming, angles, volume, installer/tech, etc...
Sold! about to put in my order for the kit.

Great video. Thanks so much for not having background music . Its hard to follow a long with distracting noise.
I watched this around 4/5 times trying to geek myself up to diy this job on my no air ss
Best how-to video yet 💯
Nice video! That’s one super clean Monte Carlo.
GREAT VIDEO! THANKS!

Does the low mount a/c compressor kit work with Holley mounts on an Ls swap?
Where do we find certified guys to do this installation?
Great Video
I have a 83 El Camino with a 95 Tahoe engine. I have an air compressor. What vintage air model number do I need?
Thanx in advance
Can i do this with a 5.3 motor ln a 83 Monte Carlo
So does that kit have Ac and heater included in the kit?
Yes, These units come standard with AC/heat/defrost

Where can I purchase the plate that goes on the fire wall
If you call them they sell it individually. It’s around $200 if I remember correctly.
great video
Ok so if I take out my current set up…can I remove everything now, come back later and install
All this stuff?
I don't see why not, just make sure to leave the drier caps on until you are ready to install the AC system.

@@va197653 thank you for your response
20 minutes into the video and I’ve seen more ads than I have in the last month combined.
Would this work on a regal? All of the duct work looks very close
So far we have only confirmed that it will work for the Monte Carlo and El camino.
They are the same.
@@focused313 rumor has it the vents are different
@@SkinnyPedalMotorsports I’m subbed to your channel for a while now did you ever install this?
