trebleclef, Hi, I just want to say, you do realise that a lecture has a time limit, so the lecturer has to make choices of what s/he thinks the most appropriate for whatever topic. Usually, the audience will be informed about what the topic will be, and they are also aware that only a certain amount of information can be transmitted in a limited timeframe.
Nevertheless Christa Stempel, Lyme is at epidemic levels in the US which means epidemic level Alzheimers induced by Lyme and that should be included in ANY information about Lyme (esp since that would involve antibiotic treatment requirement.)
trebleclef, oh for christs sake, Lyme desease is not in any way at epidemic levels in the USA, and there is no evidence that Alzheimers desease is induced by Lyme desease. We don't even know what exactly is causing Altheimers, we just have 'ideas' about what 'might' contribute to this form of dementia. So I have no idea what the fuck you are talking about. And what antibiotic treatment are you talking about? Since when can we treat Alzheimers with antibiotics? If Alzheimers was treatable with antibiotics, it wouldn't pose a problem. Antibiotics would be given, and end of the story. I think you just read something about Lyme desease, but you don't understand anything about how bacteria work and how they can be defeated. Anyway, I want to say again, this video is a lecture with a timelimit, and not everything 'known' that might be contributing to Alzheimers desease, can be covered in a one hour lecture.

Fish, cod etc from Nth Sea, hardly saw banana for 6yrs+ WW11 etc. Died 2O14 aged 107. 25% genetic possibly the rest is where you live, what you do in life, stressful relationships. @13:30 "anyone born at the turn of the nineteenth century would be lucky to live past fifty". My youngest grandparent was born 1895. Her mother died when she was a very young child. I don't know her mother's age. So her father gave her away to a good family. She lived more than fifty years, a good bit more. Gave birth to eight children in her kitchen etc. No easy life. But it worked. One of her children died just shy of fifty. Several of her grandchildren died a good bit before fifty. The grandchildren got all the medical attention they needed. It didn't help. The grandchildren ate a healthfood diet purportedly/named to support for its practioners to live long.
My maternal Grandfather was b. In 1861. Lived to be 75yrs despite being a big cigar smoker. Both Grandma's lived to 86. My mother d.2014 aged 107. Liverpool UK
Mean life expectancy is meaningless when age at death does not form a normal curve. Death around age 50 was not common; dying earlier (at birth, during childhood, or in childbirth) created that mean.

I wonder if the Ketogenic diet helps with Alzheimer's? It was first used for epileptic patients. There are not any grains nor a lot of fruit in the diet, however. I believe ketone bodies have a neuroprotective impact on aging brain cells.
Changing the speed to 1.5 really helped me get through this. Much of the same info to reinforce what I've heard which is good. But also nice to hear more about Pomegranate juice. I know too many people who have nearly died because of cholesterol medications .My husband only took 3 pills (not at one time ) and it sent him to the doctor .My bother in - law has been to the hospital 3 times by ambulance in 2 weeks .My sister finally got him to stop taking the cholesterol medication .And the list goes on . The problem is ! People think the doctor knows best instead of being in tune with their own bodies .But doctors don't study medicines. The pharmaceutical sells man gives the doctor kick backs when he prescribes their drugs . How many people do you know that doesn't get a pill thrown at them instead of finding the underlying problem?
lol, I was just told to start on a statin...no way ill just change my diet because we need cholesterol to use in our body's to work properly. My LDL is 50 haha what do they call it? practicing medicine.... I am not a Ginnie pig. we share the same initials, maybe the same thoughts on old medicine practices...if we don't start to be responsible for ourselves we will kill our selves. my numbers are higher than normal, but I can think more rational and intellectual than when my LDL,n HDL were in medical norms go figure.
The cholesterol med didn't suit me at all. It caused confusion and memory loss and though I tried another type that one caused IBS issues as I cant tolerate calcium being in a med...I have been working on fasting to lower cholesterol and already followed a veg and fruit and salad diet for many years and gluten free, plus exercise most days...so fasting is tackling the issue since my body doesn't digest fats well (after having lyme disease) and it collects in the liver to make cholesterol...
Thank You, I am 38, Diabetic. I have same symptoms but don't fall in the age bracket for this disease. I may got effected earlier or the reason for my symptoms is different.. are there any tests to confirm its Alzheimer's or not ?
Stop the friggin drugs!! PREVENTION! Figuring out the CAUSE! Drugs should ONLY be for acute, emergency...when body is in "fight or flight" mode, panic, anxiety, etc...even then should be short term, not just relying on damn drugs!
Wonder Woman -A plant based diet. Give up all animal and vegetable fats and many of the diseases never start in the first place. Give up all refined sugar, go light on sugary fruits, give up all refined and packaged foods period. Processed meats have neen determined a class b carcinogen by the world health organization. Time for people to wake up. This has been on the books for a long time now.
My Mom was very active, long walks everyday, ate healthy, played piano, sang in a capella group, played bridge and soduku, has a Ph.D, and now has Alzheimers.
Did she eat organic, I only ask because of glyphosate or round up. Also did she consume animal products daily or rarely. I think these have effects too.
Did she undergo surgery for anything after the age of 60? Anesthesia can either cause dementia or make symptoms a lot worse. My mom was never the same after a surgery she had when she was 65. Anesthesia effects elderly dogs that “go under” as well.
Funny that half these comments are just appreciative people thankful for being more informed. And the other half are people trying to show off their healthy brain muster with unnecessarily complex sentences and baseless claims that sound smart
I've recently started a journey of health and wealth. My dad died from Alzheimer's and my aunt so I'm going to prepare myself by treating as if I too could have it. Prevention is the best cute.
Nuts are actually a very poor source of Omega 3 fats, as they all (even walnuts) contain at minimum 4.5 times more Omega 6 than Omega 3. It's not so much the huge amounts of Omega 3 fatty acids that we want to optimize - rather, it's keeping a relatively low ratio of omega 6:3 that is most beneficial. And ideal ratio of 6:3 is anywhere between 1:1 and 4:1. Better sources of Omega 3 fatty acids are pastured beef, pastured eggs and wild caught fatty fish.
Thank you for this very interesting and important information. I really am curious about the process of Alzheimer’s disease as my Father and his sister were both affected by that, but differently (she was demential, he was not), and I really would like to protect my family from it... On my Irish news channel today, 19 Sept 2015....... '' Scientists at Trinity College Dublin say they have made a major breakthrough with regard to a fundamental mechanism underlying the development of Alzheimer's disease, which could lead to a new form of therapy for those living with the condition. The research, published this week in the international Science Advances journal, was supported by Science Foundation Ireland ( SFI) and the US based charity Brightfocus Foundation..''
Alzheimer's is a form of dementia. Dementia is a big umbrella term for the many types of similar cognitive disorders. Kind of like how Aspergers is a form of autism or hypertention is a form of cardiovascular disease.

12:22- Ever since they did away with the Greek and Latin prerequisites for Medical School physicians just don’t understand history...these numbers are skewed.
13:00 Note the life expectancy at birth mislead. I am sure that Dr. Small understands the difference between the life expectancy at birth and how long a person is likely to live once becoming an adult. That 47 year average year of death is more determined by the horrific numbers of children that died due to poor sanitation, minor wounds that became infected and diseases that were deadly then but treatable now.
Hunh? What are you nattering on about, Andy? There is nothing misleading in what Dr. Small says round 13:00 and his understanding of life expectancy is obviously sound.
@@TheDavidlloydjones I stand by what I said. I am not disputing the points being made otherwise. I'm merely pointing out that most people who survived childhood in 1900 could expect to live to be in their 60's, 70's and beyond.

Fish, cod etc from Nth Sea, hardly saw banana for 6yrs+ WW11 etc. Died 2O14 aged 107. 25% genetic possibly the rest is where you live, what you do in life, stressful relationships. Had no heart disease, diabetes, . Had memory loss from about age 99/100. Lived at home. Still knew my name 2wks before she died. Liverpool UK
great lecture with a lot of helpful information
None had alzheimers, dementia, lewibody etc.
Death around age 50 was not common; dying earlier (at birth, during childhood, or in childbirth) created that mean.
free education - gotta love these people - thank you
I'm in shock!! Why this lecture has only 436k views in 7 years?!?!
Is there any help to listening to HZ or deta wave noise.
I can only speak for myself . I am NOT a doctor . I have MS . I take pure DHA and Royal Jelly . If bees make you sick then DO NOT take any bee products . All this stuff helps me . DHA fights inflammation. Read about all this and learn about it . This doctor is a fine speaker . I wish he would come to Knoxville T N and speak .
Melissa, did you look into Coimbra Protocol. It is helping many people .
I wonder if the Ketogenic diet helps with Alzheimer's? It was first used for epileptic patients. There are not any grains nor a lot of fruit in the diet, however. I believe ketone bodies have a neuroprotective impact on aging brain cells.
Other Drs. On utube say YES.
It does
Changing the speed to 1.5 really helped me get through this. Much of the same info to reinforce what I've heard which is good. But also nice to hear more about Pomegranate juice. I think we should all find ways to learn more about other cultures and other countries ways of treatment for all sorts of ailments. Cut out the talk and do more of the do.
You're a genius! Helping speed freaks all over the planet! Thank YOU x
Any research programs in place to identify the best/most effective techniques to engage persons with Alzheimer's dementia? Really interested in doing project but not sure how to start, get Grant $, etc. Thoughts?

May I suggest to do more research on plasmalogen, a natural extract from scallop, on neurodegenerative disease, like Dementia and Alzheimer's
you just gave me a new thing to add to the reading list. thanks
This video is 9 yrs old. How much has changed in this field since then?
Put them on fruits and vegetable diet and watch the change in them!
lol, I was just told to start on a statin...no way ill just change my diet because we need cholesterol to use in our body's to work properly.
I may got effected earlier or the reason for my symptoms is different.. are there any tests to confirm its Alzheimer's or not ?
very interesting. thank you.
You can get omega-3 from walnuts and the good part of wine is grapes, not alcohol, so wine is not good, grapes are good, wine not so much
Stop the friggin drugs!!
How educated would you be if you could advise on how to get the cause. Then your a Wonder Woman
Stopping drugs will never happen. There's too much money at stake. The biggest cartel of them all would have a hissy!
My Mom was very active, long walks everyday, ate healthy, played piano, sang in a capella group, played bridge and soduku, has a Ph.D, and now has Alzheimers.
My Mom also has a similar history & result...... :..(
Did she eat organic, I only ask because of glyphosate or round up. Also did she consume animal products daily or rarely. I think these have effects too.
Did she get every vaccine?
Did she undergo surgery for anything after the age of 60? Anesthesia can either cause dementia or make symptoms a lot worse. My mom was never the same after a surgery she had when she was 65. Anesthesia effects elderly dogs that “go under” as well.
@@kt-jonj11 no surgeries.
Since 1906 no one was able to find cure , disappointing . HOWEVER great lecture Dr. Thank you.
Wonderful Information.
On line time line 50:13, stating "treating high cholesterol", I hope people are made aware of the recent findings relating to statin drugs.

Thank you for this very interesting and important information. I really am curious about the process of Alzheimer’s disease as my Father and his sister were both affected by that, but differently (she was demential, he was not), and I really would like to protect my family from it... What’s the update in this July 2019 ? How can we go around that ? Thank you for the reply, I truly appreciate any light focussing on this subject.

my husband also showed great horrible signs of stage 6 & 7 alzheimer and it made me really worried because i dont want to lose him to the cold hands of death. i read on a blog of how healing medication from a doctor called Dr Iyare can heal memory loss caused by alzheimer and i immediately contacted Dr Iyare. he sent me the drug and i administered it to my husband, after few weeks my husband became conscious of the world around and he just seem to never have been sick of alzheimer before its been 13 years after he was diagnosed of alzheimer and he is still perfect as we are ready to celebrate his next birth day in a grand style. thanks to Dr. Iyare and i sincerely hope every one sick out there can also contact Dr. Iyare and request for his healing medication. his private email is: driyare@gmail.com OR skype: doctor.iyare +2348061532197

On my Irish news channel today, 19 Sept 2015....... '' Scientists at Trinity College Dublin say they have made a major breakthrough with regard to a fundamental mechanism underlying the development of Alzheimer's disease, which could lead to a new form of therapy for those living with the condition. The research, published this week in the international Science Advances journal, was supported by Science Foundation Ireland ( SFI) and the US based charity Brightfocus Foundation..''

social communities can help preventing Alzheimer?
Are we forgetting lead? Baby boomers grew up with leaded gas...unleaded became a thing in the late 70s and 80s.
Memory does not define who we are. Being defines who we are.
We are defined by our conscious thought. Thoughts precede motives and action. James 1:14,15
What is the difference between “dementia” and Alzheimer’s” ?
Alzheimer's is a disease that causes dementia. There are many forms of dementia. Not all of them are caused by Alzheimer's.
Alzheimer's is a form of dementia. Dementia is a big umbrella term for the many types of similar cognitive disorders. Kind of like how Aspergers is a form of autism or hypertention is a form of cardiovascular disease.

I'm merely pointing out that most people who survived childhood in 1900 could expect to live to be in their 60's, 70's and beyond.
an adorable way to treat such a hard topic!!!
