    Thanks for this. Been on a daily regimen of: resveratrol, wheatgrass, tumeric+black pepper, exercise, bentonite, astaxanthin, NOT being overweight, minimal stress, etc. Mother had Alzheimers for 10yrs, died age 90. Her side of the family (my uncles) ALSO had Alzheimers. I'm 57 now and dreading getting older. I'm trying to reduce the 'slope'!

      As with cancer and heart disease, we need prevention and cures across all ends of the spectrum- from early lifestyle prevention right through to palliative care. Complex diseases do not have one cause and therefore no preventive measure is going to be infallible. Pharmaceutical companies pay a role in researching better treatments, health scientists play a key role in researching lifestyle prevention and primary health care providers play a key role in delivering these methods and managing the diseases.

    Occupational stress is stress related to one's job. Occupational stress often stems from unexpected responsibilities and pressures that do not align with a person's knowledge, skills, or expectations, inhibiting one's ability to cope. Occupational stress can increase when workers do not feel supported by supervisors or colleagues, or feel as if they have little control over work processes.[1] Wikipedia

    I never was pleased with my names memory ability. Now that I'm 60, this ability has improved tremendously because of practice on the job requirements. But, each time I forget a name now, I'm become worried and conscious of developing a brain degeneration disease. Motivation seems to be a great part of the memory game. Tiredness is another factor as my memory clearly decreases when I am tired. I tend to worry about brain degeneration more after 14 hours of being awake.

      he does not include much by way of infectious agents, which were developed by Japan, Germany and the US and accidentally somehow got released. Lyme Disease was studied extensively in the lab at Plum Island and actually injected into ticks that were collected in Texas. what is found in many AD victims? Lyme DNA................and this guy does not know this?

    • @christastempel5577
      @christastempel5577 8 лет назад +1

      trebleclef, Hi, I just want to say, you do realise that a lecture has a time limit, so the lecturer has to make choices of what s/he thinks the most appropriate for whatever topic. Usually, the audience will be informed about what the topic will be, and they are also aware that only a certain amount of information can be transmitted in a limited timeframe.

    • @trebelclef
      @trebelclef 8 лет назад +2

      Nevertheless Christa Stempel, Lyme is at epidemic levels in the US which means epidemic level Alzheimers induced by Lyme and that should be included in ANY information about Lyme (esp since that would involve antibiotic treatment requirement.)

    • @christastempel5577
      @christastempel5577 8 лет назад +3

      trebleclef, oh for christs sake, Lyme desease is not in any way at epidemic levels in the USA, and there is no evidence that Alzheimers desease is induced by Lyme desease. We don't even know what exactly is causing Altheimers, we just have 'ideas' about what 'might' contribute to this form of dementia. So I have no idea what the fuck you are talking about. And what antibiotic treatment are you talking about? Since when can we treat Alzheimers with antibiotics? If Alzheimers was treatable with antibiotics, it wouldn't pose a problem. Antibiotics would be given, and end of the story. I think you just read something about Lyme desease, but you don't understand anything about how bacteria work and how they can be defeated. Anyway, I want to say again, this video is a lecture with a timelimit, and not everything 'known' that might be contributing to Alzheimers desease, can be covered in a one hour lecture.

    • @trebelclef
      @trebelclef 8 лет назад

      Very interesting that your dad wrote about Prevention as the future of medicine as far back as 1951. He was a visionary. It's amazing how long it takes the rest of 'us' to catch up. BTW my Dad is now 94 and he is also from Panama as I am. He is still active and has all his faculties. He has a better memory than I do. I will have to ask my dad if he may have heard of your dad.

    My youngest grandparent was born 1895. Her mother died when she was a very young child. I don't know her mother's age. So her father gave her away to a good family. She lived more than fifty years, a good bit more. Gave birth to eight children in her kitchen etc. No easy life. But it worked. One of her children died just shy of fifty. Several of her grandchildren died a good bit before fifty. The grandchildren got all the medical attention they needed. It didn't help. The grandchildren ate a healthfood diet purportedly/named to support for its practioners to live long.

The problem is ! People think the doctor knows best instead of being in tune with their own bodies .But doctors don't study medicines.The pharmaceutical sells man gives the doctor kick backs when he prescribes their drugs . How many people do you know that doesn't get a pill thrown at them instead of finding the underlying problem?

It caused confusion and memory loss and though I tried another type that one caused IBS issues as I cant tolerate calcium being in a med...I have been working on fasting to lower cholesterol and already followed a veg and fruit and salad diet for many years and gluten free, plus exercise most days...so fasting is tackling the issue since my body doesn't digest fats well (after having lyme disease) and it collects in the liver to make cholesterol...

    Nuts are actually a very poor source of Omega 3 fats, as they all (even walnuts) contain at minimum 4.5 times more Omega 6 than Omega 3. It's not so much the huge amounts of Omega 3 fatty acids that we want to optimize - rather, it's keeping a relatively low ratio of omega 6:3 that is most beneficial. And ideal ratio of 6:3 is anywhere between 1:1 and 4:1.
    Better sources of Omega 3 fatty acids are pastured beef, pastured eggs and wild caught fatty fish.

'' Scientists at Trinity College Dublin say they have made a major breakthrough with regard to a fundamental mechanism underlying the development of Alzheimer's disease, which could lead to a new form of therapy for those living with the condition. The research, published this week in the international Science Advances journal, was supported by Science Foundation Ireland ( SFI) and the US based charity Brightfocus Foundation..''

      Alzheimer's is a form of dementia. Dementia is a big umbrella term for the many types of similar cognitive disorders. Kind of like how Aspergers is a form of autism or hypertention is a form of cardiovascular disease.

    13:00 Note the life expectancy at birth mislead. I am sure that Dr. Small understands the difference between the life expectancy at birth and how long a person is likely to live once becoming an adult. That 47 year average year of death is more determined by the horrific numbers of children that died due to poor sanitation, minor wounds that became infected and diseases that were deadly then but treatable now.

    • @TheDavidlloydjones

      @@TheDavidlloydjones I stand by what I said. I am not disputing the points being made otherwise. I'm merely pointing out that most people who survived childhood in 1900 could expect to live to be in their 60's, 70's and beyond.
