We did MCT. My children and I found grammar island boring. I have never seen a negative review on it. Maybe we are broken, but it didn't work for us. haha. We prefer to use living books for language arts and these books were not it for me. I passed it on to a friend and she LOVED it. Thanks for another great video. (My eyes automaticlly jumped to the John Steinbeck on your shelf. He is the BEST!)

I love Brave Writer but it's on back burner for us. Another writing program that is super amazing, very similar is Writer's Workshop by Layers of Learning. Very flexible, very heavy in creative writing projects.
I'm new to homeschooling and new to your channel, but can you please share more of your spooky season units? I saw your book haul and have heard you mention this Frankenstein unit multiple times, I'd love more information. We're officially starting Kindergarten next year, but my daughter is on a first grade level academically, which has allowed us to fill the rest of our time with things we love. We've been doing a pause for spooky themes the past two years, and I'd love to make a solid single theme last at least three weeks of October.

could you please explain in more detail why you decided to not just do beast academy for second grade? What dimension math cover that beast academy doesn't cover?
I don't have a video about it yet, I will add it to my list though! If I were you I would try the app, they have singing and signing lessons. You can also download a lot of worksheets from their website. Then from there if you like it, I would see what instrument your child would like. We have bells, piano and we just started recorder. I think they also have ukulele.
I remember you saying in past videos that your 6 yr old at the time was doing 3rd grade level school. Now he’s doing 2nd grade. Did the public school want you to stay on track? Curious because I’m wondering if we can’t go ahead as well
So I have to register him as second grade for the school systems here in Maryland. But he still does the higher level work like we have been doing! Sorry for the confusion!
Definitely recommend Melitda when ur son gets older & the movie James & the Peach 🍑. Anne Frank, Hatch Rolles book. The movie. Definitely recommend 4H they are definitely Secular, cover Buds. Phampt Toll Booth, Tom Swyer, I speak British 🇬🇧 Terms at times having grown up watching ⌚ Britsh movies TV SHOWS!. With my mom quite a bit!.

I know you love Beaat Academy but check out IMACS EMF. Their courses are logic based and lays a good foundation for college math and computer science
