I thought it wasn't movable at first, too, but then I watched an interview with the designers, where they said they calculated the load so that it is possible to carry the set by holding at the 2 support columns on the right and left sides. Can confirm that it holds its weight just fine and can be moved this way! =)
Having built this set and motorized it, I can confirm this is one of my top 3 most satisfied Lego purchases. In fact, I have bought three more of them. Although I have not decided whether to MOC them together into a giant roller coaster or to keep them as investments, due to my inadequacy in MOCing😓, it says a lot about how good this set is!
They do. Starting in 2015 they released the fairground mixer which is a take on the scrambler. 2017 they released the creator expert Ferris wheel, 2017 the carousel, 2019 this coaster and over Covid the loop coaster. Can’t wait to see what’s next!
It's an amazing set, and have always enjoyed the Creator Expert lineup of amusement park rides. Though I have the Mixer, Ferris Wheel, and Carrousel, price was a bit steep here at $480 Canadian to justify buying it. Sad to see it retire, but still really excited to see what Lego does after the most recent Haunted House set. Great review, and look back at the set.
I was considering picking it up for the nephew for when he's ready (old enough) for this kind of Lego, as it seems like a pretty fun thing to build, but the price is pretty steep already here, and it seems like a big model like this wouldn't survive long on a shelf :)
I bought a few of these months ago from the lego store. Definitely key to build it properly and make sure the track it set at factory height. You won't be disappointed, the cars move very smooth like a Swiss watch. Impressive most Impressive ;)
It is also possible to attach the power functions battery box and the motor, but I think that the powered up hub, motor and a sensor is much better. 3:39
I don't know if it was that good though... the rubber band mechanism and the chain design made it so that a few months after I finished the set, it started cracking every time I tried to use it. I checked all my steps but I still couldn't fix it, so I eventually returned it. The money still went back to LEGO anyways because I bought the Lamborghini Sian like a week after that Edit: Yeah some might consider the Sian bad but I kind of like it (also I want to collect all the 1:8 cars that aren't retired yet)
I just had to move and box up an already built one of these sets for the owner moving house. We slid it off the side of the table on to a thick honeycomb piece of cardboard so we could lower it into a box. I was intrigued at how it all worked so hence looking it up on youtube. Awesome to se it can be motorised as well.
I own this and it might be the only LEGO set that has made me regret later on. It's very large obviously and kinda hard to move around or store away. Also it's a nightmare when it comes to dusting because the thing is so huge and complex. Also the unreliablity of the lift hill catching the train is something that really shouldn't be allowed on a 400€ set. When I look at this set I think that it does look really cool and fun but I also question myself if it was totally worth buying. Kinda glad I did, but also I kinda regret it. Mixed feelings.
I bought this set last year, in July and with it, I have all 3 amusement park ride sets :) (this, ferris wheel and the carrousel, still missing the Fairground Mixer)
The son of a guy I work with has one of these and a Death Star unbuilt. I’ve been trying to buy the Death Star but he has parts mixed in with the coaster set. I’m going to try to buy it all and sort it out myself.
As a person who owns and built this set, I wish it wasn’t retiring this year. I get that they need to create room for more sets, but maybe one more year?
I got this set right before it sold out with the intention of keeping it sealed and selling it for a lot more a year down the line, and they are already selling for 480$ on eBay, so I’m pretty happy😂
Great to see you with this set. Did you get any help building it? Just joking: I love your enthusiasm for the sets Lego provides you with for free, your lovely accent and friendliness, as well as the Lego horror show in the background.
The roller coaster supports really should have been reinforced with technic pieces or made entirely of technic pieces because it just can't sustain the strain when the roller coaster is running and it brakes often especially the chain. The cars in particular shoot off sometimes. It is a nice set, but it has some major design flaws in stability that could have been easily rectified with a different choice of pieces for the supports.
The train and track combo is a bit half-baked and clunky. Without banked track and up-stop wheels too much momentum is lost to friction making more elaborate layouts impractical and unworkable. I hope lego revisit the idea in the future with better designed cars and track.
I was so lucky, I have this for Christmas, I just wanted the Bugatti, but it is out of stock and retiring, the Bugatti was my first choice and roller coaster next
2024 here. I gave this a quick test in my concept environment. Even the digital version feels sturdy. I skipped some of the smaller details just so I could focus on the roller coaster ruclips.net/video/o2nxSAQSDUo/видео.html
Now Lego is saying they won’t retire Bugatti for another year after labeling is as retiring soon. I’m not fond of the false advertising to boost sales!
I love the video itself, but please do not say "quite unique". Either it is unique or it is not! You could say it is rare or quite rare, but not quite unique...

Very good to know! Mine’s been in the same spot that that it was built for a year now.
The set is also designed to be split in half, that's how I do it

@@michaelfight7951 That's probably what I would do with them😁
How about putting 2 together and keeping the rest as they are?
how about you send 1 my way, i only have 1 yaknow lets make it even
whats the motor needed for this set ? thanks.
I feel like lego would make a killing having a coaster/theme park lineup. It literally kept Knex afloat.

Buy it. If you change your mind on giving it to him, you will definitely still be able to resell for a profit.
I have one I’ve been waiting to build for just over 6 months. Tempted to find a second as an investment item… such a great build!

You can practically do it with any motor or power source

I never really thought of this set before, but dang I wish I scooped this up a while ago now. I did manage to get the Liebherr excavator though.

Would you think the new Lego RollerCoaster would be compatible with this retired one (kind of a extension set)? I´m praying for that
We'll see once/if the existence of the new one will be confirmed :)
I got this set right before it sold out with the intention of keeping it sealed and selling it for a lot more a year down the line, and they are already selling for 480$ on eBay, so I’m pretty happy😂
I really have to buy this!

That is one of the sets I really want to have. But according to my 2021 budget, it's already 2023 😀
Is it still working good? I see many having problems with faulty wheels and the carts not reaching the climb up to the top
The tracks needs to be adjusted occasionally but otherwise it works fine
@@RacingBrick How is the cracking from the chain? For me it comes and goes
@@CastorTroy666 as I noticed the columns and the track pieces need to be pushed in place firmly once in a while, then the operation is pretty smooth

Might require careful assembly but I was running it for hours without any particular issue
It comes apart in 2 pieces so that you can move it, it tells you how to do it in the instructions
There is also in Ali express

I don’t want it to be retired!
I bought this set in 2018 :D
Is it recommended for 7 year old kids that are not really an expert with Lego building or it's going to be a waste of money?
For a 7 year old I think it might be a big challenge, I'd choose something smaller
There are other smaller coasters that would be more suitable for kids. I'd suggest the space roller coaster for your children.
Have u got the part list for the motor plz
I want to buy this, but new set is coming out this year. what shall I do?
Can you please review the typewriter
3:45 is there a model number for that motorized unit ?
I have this Lego, but the car doesn't slide because?
Hello. The hub 88008 it's good for the boosting mode?Thank's bye
That's not a hub, that's the motor used here
@@RacingBrick thank's

This set will be worth more in some years.
Good you got this
This is a cool set but Idrather have a different set
If it had the 18+ category, was it okay or not?
This one would fit
Does the moter come with the set
No, it doesn't
This set is now $550 + on eBay and I’ve seen it as high as $750. That’s just being greedy.

Where did they say that exactly? It's already marked as retired in certain countries (e.g. Australia)
