I'm' so glad I no longer live there. If there were a dumb capitol of the world, Sheridan would be in direct competition with that one pony town in the movie Deliverance. So, a gun manufacturer wanted to set up shop there. The townsfolk voted it down. They didn't want jobs or prosperity. And mostly they didn't want others to have access to as many guns as they had. The would justify shooting somebody in the back in Sheridan. Other things that happen in Sheridan, if they do not like you, and it doesn't take much...little things like actually having an idea that makes sense, then they run you out of town. If you disagree with them? They run you out of town. If you say that Colonel Custer got what was coming for him? Run out of town. If you point out that maybe a person shouldn't saw off the limb they are sitting on? Run out of town. If you like the cartoon character of the bumbling Elmer Fudd and think that is the greatest human being who ever (really lived) then Sheridan is the place for you. The people are sweet, and kind, well...not really, they are nice to your face and seem to roll out the red carpet, but will talk behind your back. Yup. Typical old fashioned American Mayberry! Just play like you are as stupid as the rest of the people there, or actually act that stupid, and you will get along just fine. Definitely, you know, don't like anything scientific. Don't discuss anything without their permission first. Don't play loud music. Ignore the fact that the place is a farce and a sham. Overlook that half the town is built on landfills. Ignore that you are seeing people with impoverished minds that know ALL about the rest of the world and are the fonts of all knowledge everywhere and the ultimate in wisdom. Yes. Sheridan is indeed absolutely BEAUTIFUL. It is gorgeous. The crime is low as long as it isn't the police committing those crimes. If you like the golly shucks types and don't have high expectations for profesionalism or knowledge, Sheridan is the place for you. You won't find any rebels there in Sheridan because... They were run out of town. You also won't find anybody that knows their ass from their elbow and will find a bunch of generally mean spirited people who aren't even aware of history from both sides. If you absolutely want to love your tropes and never want to question what you think, live in a bubble devoid of all reality, then Sheridan is the place for you.
Sheridan is nice! We were there for holydays ! We liked it. Surrounded by nice nature! And the town like an old westerntown. Also we visited the rodeo and the old cowboybar! Much of fun.
