The RUclips channel VidiQ mentioned you ! They have over 1 million subscribers and you you were the first video they referenced when I saw it. I instantly became very happy because I've been watching your journey even before I subscribed and it's just refreshing to see a fellow RUclipsr make it 💯 Also the video is named how RUclips can change your life with only 500 subscribers ... 😂 😅 look it up brother 🙏
Hold on… I think I saw that video! Just didn’t realise it was Darren until I started watching his videos today. Good post! I wouldn’t have spotted it otherwise 😅
What I loved about your "Just start" video was when you explained the 4 forms and how RUclips fits your needs better than Instagram. You zoomed out and put it all in a perspective that I hadn't really thought about before. And that kind of explained why I don't like Instagram anymore myself, but lately has turned more and more to RUclips. Growth! And you learn things. And at a slower pace. I like all those things. Good luck with your channel! I love your dry humour and sarcasm. (I'm from Norway, so that might explain it...)
I feel like dry humor is more appreciated on RUclips as well so far. I should’ve added that to the list 😂 People think I’m being serious sometimes on IG when I think it’s pretty clear I’m not.
Hey man, I'm coming from that viral video and I wanted to say the reason why I enjoyed watching it and why I think it went viral is because everything you talked about was very relatable. The struggles of negativity/jelousy/envy on the short form platforms is something I think all of us face. I think if you include raw elements like this in your videos about your personal life and thoughts people will really be able to connect with that. I'm also a small youtube channel that wants to grow and the things you talked about were very motivational and inspiring for me. Anyways good luck with your channel, I'm subscribed and tuned in.
Thank you! It’s still a work in progress but I appreciate it. I recently filmed a small role in a movie and was just talking to the sound guys the whole time and got some great info. I get asked about this often so I’ll get a video up about in the near future 👌🏻
Awesome work man. I look forward to the upcoming videos. Cant wait to hear your feedback on "figuring out, what to talk about". Something I struggle with as I debate redirecting this channel or starting something completely new....
Thanks, bro! I should be making that one sooner than later. As for your channel, I would say just jot down a bunch've ideas for things you have a lot to say about. You'll see which topics you have the most to say about. Those are the things you should talk about on your channel. Then write down 10 different video titles based on that topic. Don't worry about the content of each yet, just don't stop until you have 10 really good sounding titles for things people would search for. Once you do that you'll start seeing what the channel will be about based on the type of videos you're going to create. This will give you a clear direction to go and when people arrive they'll have a clear idea of what the channel is about. This is just a vague start but do this to help give you some direction and you'll notice that motivation and momentum will follow 👌
Hey man. Yeah found you from that video. Watched a couple now. Definitely the “being you” works for you. Comes across genuine. I’ve had a couple of channels over the years but never really got into it properly but always think I should have. Maybe this is my reason to do so
Hey...you make good stuff...and discuss things folks truly want to hear about...and you're golden. You've got a friend here in NW Florida. Keep making dope content! btw...your art is fan-friggin-tastic.
Yes Darren, congrats on that video. Keep being you and doing your own thing. As you continue to share and create stuff you are passionate about, the core audience will grow. I really love that you create short films and do your art. Regardless of " virality" on those, I can bet you will look back and be happy you kept creating them. You clearly have a great eye for composition, editing and overall concept of the things you're making. I discovered you through the viral video, but I actually went in to watch some of your short films (and will continue to). There's a video I saw recently from this creator @TheStitchery. It's a fairly recent video of hers called "I Regret Posting Shorts". I think you'll really appreciate that video if you haven't seen it yet, especially now with the recent viral video. 🙌
It’s super cool to check out your page and see your growth. I dedicated myself to posting once a week since the new year and I appreciate how you share that it’s a slow build up as opposed to the instant gratification with other social media platforms. Very inspirational, thank you :) and you share great content!
Just found your channel yesterday and started watching more today. I agree, it doesn't take long to engage in comments - especially for smaller channels. It's crazy when I try to be a better viewer and comment on other small channels and it's 🦗🦗🦗. Love watching us all do our thing and grow. Your sense of humor is awesome! PS - as a solopreneur creator myself, the best investment I ever made was a DJI Osmo 3 creator bundle. The tracking feature gives me so much more freedom in my creating. Not necessary - I always tell people they can start with the device in their hands but when I was ready to invest, that camera and mic were 👩🏼🍳 💋
I have some friends who have been enjoying the Osmo 3 as well. The tech for cameras over the next 5 years should be really exciting for solo creators like us. Thanks for the kind words and keep creating!
Barely getting going myself. I'm trying to figure out my process of putting videos together...the planning and scripting phase...do you have any tips on that?
Love what your doing bro and what your doing with your content/channel. Its definitely a inspiration for myself. Your shot selection, storytelling, your art, editing, is all awesome dude. I very much look forward to see where you go with it all. Just a lil backstory on me as one of your viewers, came home from doing my time back in 21, changed my life around, lost my mom last year which is a major part of the hope i try to spread, build gaming computers for a living and who i work for are youtubers. I help do videos for the pc selling business as well as my own. Thanks for what your doing and the inspiration bro. Much love man.
Thanks much, brother! Glad to hear you're turning things around and sorry to hear about your Mom. I lost my dad 10 years ago and it's a big driving force in my life now so just try to use it the same way. Just keep going 🤝
Really enjoying your content. My original idea was to start an art channel and you’ve inspired me to go through with it. Learning a lot from your vids. Keep em coming!
same here Darren I like to learn things the most simple way possible and that's why I'm here watching your video again. Plus your dry sarcastic humor that completes the whole thing ^_^ I need that. lol
Honestly so glad i found your channel! Love the calm vibe and your perspective on things! Good stuff to think about & gives great Inspiration for on my own channel ! I wanna make it more raw and honest, not worry as much, just be me, have fun and make Art ✨ :)
I love the way you're having fun. So I subscribed. Who is the person supporting you behind the scenes, throwing you the ball and so on? It's nice you have someone joining in!
Sending you all the support on this platform my friend! And wow, I’m glad your RUclips video that you referenced is already at 135k views! Woohoo. Can’t wait to see your progress on getting those placards that are silver and gold! Supporting you from Chicago
I watched that video before it went viral, and I was thinking that you should have more subscribers that what you had at the time ... and now you do :) Congratulations. Keep creating :)
🌺Yup, that video brought me to your channel and had me subscribe so quick! Fellow artist here and so fed up with the 'performance' and 'guaranteed success when you follow these simple steps' type crap 😕. So, I'm here to stay and my channel is somewhat similar. Art is my main thing, but I do like to talk RUclips and share my social media journey (just starting to implement that in my videos) and it's honestly so refreshing to see so many other people in the comments coming from the same point of view, struggles and aspirations for their own channels. All I want to do is create a community of people who can talk to each other, encourage one another, give advice without asking to join their course to get full access to stuff. Let's just be humans for goodness sakes!! 🌼💛💜
I actually just added some of my main gear to the description so you can see some of that there. But I use the Sennheiser AVX wireless system. I have boom mics as well that I may use for voice over stuff since the sound is a little better but I love the convenience of a lav. This one is a bit pricey but the sound really matters to me and I tested some others that I just didn't like as much. Just make sure any mic you get or audio recorder you get for your lav can handle 32 bit float so that if you yell or talk really quietly it will regulate the sound so it doesn't peak. I'm still learning how to get the best sound in post production but so far so good 👍
I came from your other video. A good message; got me thinking more deeply. Decided to check this one out because I loved your creative style! I see a lot of potential, the production is a trip. Honestly looking forward to your content man, cheers from Canada!

Plus, near instant feedback.
Thanks, brotha! You've got it exactly right. Just keep learning and experimenting on here to the point you can do just about everything on your own. That way you always have creative control. I wasted alot of time thinking I needed to book a gig or work with others just to create films and videos.
