  • Join us and our adventure buddies on a 15-mile kayak trip on the Colorado River. If that sounds impressive...well...thanks! We did have the assistance of perfect weather and a steady downstream current to help us along. The canyon is wide and the water is deep throughout this segment, so there are no real rapids to contend with.
Nevertheless, sitting in a kayak seat for 5 hours is a challenge, and there were many paddle strokes expended (probably 50% more than necessary due to our inexperience). But if WE can do it, so can YOU!
We used a backhaul service to ferry us and our kayaks 15 miles upriver from Lees Ferry, Arizona. They'll happily drop you off at the 10-mile mark, or even closer, making this trip accessible to families as well as less-than-hardcore paddlers like us. There are 5 camping areas along the route, each with pit toilets, so taking nature breaks and stretching your legs and back is easy (and necessary for us old folks).
There are several services to choose from. We used Kayak the Colorado and they were great. They rent kayaks, canoes, SUPs and will haul your small watercraft as well.
