Pārekareka ki te tāringa ! Still, to this day I believe Maisey can push the boundaries for Māori music to become mainstream popular. She has the talent, voice, and her articulation for Māori culture not only through her lyrics but sonically as an artist speaks for itself. Her connection with te taiao can be heard through her instruments. Awesome new Album, Maisey !
Watched the interview before hearing the song... the way it all connects is so beautiful. I cried many times, then explaining the 3 stories in the video to my mum balling my eyes out 🤦🏽♀️ Thank you for blessing us with another beautiful Waiata.
Wow, I really had to fight back tears watching this. The lyrics I didn't understand, but the visuals communicated powerfully the story being told in a beautiful melody. I have tears.
To maise, to all the maori. To the children of that special land. Theyre coming again, theyre fleeing to find refuge in your land but will destroy it in the process, such is their nature. Return to your families, find strength in community, teach and love each other. You guys are the beloved, the blueprint of all that is good in this prison. We are with you
The first time I saw her was when she did a live performance at the old skating rink here in Hamilton in town. My friend Dale took me to watch her perform. She's not only beautiful but very talented, and she has a voice that soothes your soul.
I Love this....thank you it's a very beautiful song,we need songs like this now,..Luv from the Other side of the Pacific West Coast of California🍊🌞🏄♀️🏄♂️🌊
Always touching the side to me no one can touch. Always miss home when I hear you. I know I need to come home but I have to seek something else before I come home... ❤️✊🏾❤️
If you are wondering matariki is a cluster of stars that can only be seen in the maori new year. Some say there are 7 stars but in some story's there are 9
Beautiful music, sadly i could not see the subtitles on this on cause it is recognizing them as Vietnamese instead of Maori. Still enjoyed the music and video. I am guessing the ones that kept appearing in the sky (like the woman with black eyeshadow, the man that removed his eyes, etc) were the Gods or Mythic figures. I love learning about other cultures, especialy ones with oral traditions of barding (singing/music) and passing stories down by mouth.
Tino ataahua to waiata Maisey Rika engari ko tenei te Tino waiata humarie because the waiata is talking about Matariki (The last line of sentences I didn't know how to say in The Reo Maori)
When my eyes are open?. I saw a place that I needed to be. It didn't move until i got use to it. Then it moved like a movie. I could be driving the car. & seeing the tipuna message. The tipuna is a emergency priority.
I love your music so much💖would you be the actor in my book ( film), which I write currently cause I have learned that I was a strengh good hearted Maori woman in a passed life (about 1700) I was Ataahua Puthawai and reincarnated to fight here in Europe for the human rights and nature of Aotearoa. I feel to be traveled as a child from the Cook Island to Aotearoa. Does exist a contact to a Maori person who can help me in getting these information to my book? If you feel that my words fit please find me in Germany. I send all my love to my sisters an brothers of Maori Land in the name of Tangaroa and the 4 elements. Ataahua aaaaa
