    Like some Tool songs, they have to grow on you, for me I struggled to understand why people were such big fans of this track. Then i finally heard the lyrics and understood. Let the waters kiss and transmutate these leaden grudges into gold. Let go.

      @scottsimms7651 3 месяца назад

      @@ginofactap why be an asshat? You seem to clutch your crown of negativity like a cornerstone. I think the music and composition on this song is not Tool’s best work. It lacks the slow build and the big payoff that so many of their masterpieces have. Most of their songs stand alone without lyrics, this one quite frankly, does not.

    • @jhamler1
      @jhamler1 2 месяца назад

      Yes. It takes a minute to truly appreciate TOOL. It's not a gut feeling type of thing; it's more intellectual than that, I think. Then again, once you've reckoned the profundity, TOOL folds back in on itself to become the only thing worth listening to but... To your own detriment. The rest of pop music seems disposable in comparison. Until you realize that you, yourself, are an asshole unworthy of any kind of enlightenment. That's when you can put TOOL into context and live your shitty life til the bitter end

    It takes about 25 years for Saturn to return to the same point in the sky when someone is born. Which is known as Saturn returns, people tend to fully grow up at 25 and have a midlife crisis at 50.

      @@badmotorfinger007 Yep, it can be 27 to 29 years, it's not always consistent. And I've found the late 20's/early 30's the defining age range for truly growing up and taking on all the responsibilities of being an adult. A little context for this song. Tools first album, Undertow has a theme of abuse and addiction. Their second album, Aenima, is basically about dealing with the world, past trauma and whatnot and not liking it at all. That album ends with the track Third Eye that is some sort of an awakening. Lateralus, their this album, opens with this song about letting go of your grudges. It leads into the rest of the album that is overall coming to terms and finding peace. It’s a concept trio of albums that is very much so worth a listen the entire way through. That’s my thoughts on it anyway. Your reactions are great by the way🤙

      Yes! Couldn’t have said it better myself. Having listened to Tool’s work chronologically Ive always felt people who discover Tool’s later songs first will always miss out a bit on some of the layers in them because of the work that took to get there and how the journey shapes the achievement. The songs are so incredible in themselves that they’re always worth being listened to but imo they’ll be even better after knowing the struggle and angst that had to be overcome to get there.

    Great video as usual. People are divided into 2 categories from this point of view: those who understand TOOLs and those who don't understand them. It's a natural thing in my personal experience. I can tell you that if you like one song, you'll like them all. As you move forward you will realize that the real peculiarity of TOOL is that their discography is immaculate! There are no bad or even mediocre songs. If you like them, you'll like everything!

      You're telling us what we should be feeling based on your own feelings. There are lots of people who feel the same as I do.
      The Grudge is one of the songs I slip every time, and yes I've tried to listen to it.

    I'm glad you're digging tool. It's always fun seeing someone hear them for the first time.
    Assuming you continue your tool journey, i would suggest you listen to the following songs together as they had to be broken up into separate tracks for one reason or another, but are meant to be single songs:
    Parabol + Parabola
    Intension + Right in two
    Wings for marie + 10,000 days
    Lipan conjuring + lost keys + rosetta stoned
    Disposition + reflection + triad
    Also, i put them in, in my opinion, the most "normal" and least involved order. Each one gets longer and more esoteric, and goes further down the tool rabbit hole.

    There's this really specific beat/syncopated rhythm in 5 that runs on and off through this song (all instruments come back to it at one time or another, including the vocals "Wear. The grudge. Like. A crown." etc) - i feel that once you internalise that rhythm and can sing/tap it on the desk, the whole song opens up and becomes instantly so, so, so addictive.

    The thing about this band, (my favorite if I had to choose just one), is that many of their songs took a minute to grow on me. And even once it’s established itself in the rotation it goes in phases. I can put a song down for years but with these guys and all of the greats they always reemerge and remind me why I originally got that tingle from it. They don’t get played out. Just an opinion ✌️

Was there a particular genre, like metal or prog metal that you were most interested in? Do a side by side comparison of Radiohead Day dreaming vs frog leap studios/leo moracchioli's cover of radiohead's daydreaming.. i prefer the FLS cover, what do you make of it? Would be a cool video to do

    Listen to TOOL songs without lyric videos. Figure out the lyrics later, close your eyes and you just have to listen

      @@ErolReacts There is a live version that is heavily edited and mixed with the studio version which kicks imo even harder than the studio version. Some amazing visuals too of the band playing and really intensifies part of the song. The name of the video is: Tool - Jambi - The Non-existent DVD (2013)
      Jambi is one of their best songs in my book.
