I do like how this set combines ideas from both Botanicals and Dioramas. While I'm not a birder, I really like the base and the use of the transparent recolored pieces.
The colors look fine for the bird. The only issue I have are with the cattails plants. Cattails grow on straight stalks. Not Curvy wavy stalks. They may have a slight bend as the cattails weight pulls it down. I will be modding mine to have straight stalks.
Thanks Sven for designing and presenting us with an incredible creation of nature in my small study - the iconic kingfisher Lego presented to me on my retirement by my quantum computation studying son @ th USA. Adore the azure. When r u designing a hawk or a vulture in all his majestic grace and gaze ? And an aquarium that takes u to the underwater coral gardens that I still dream of which we , as a family actually experienced during snorkelling and scuba diving @ the Andaman & Nicobar islands ? Great job mate , keep it up !
I really like it! These decisions must be trickier for "living" subjects where the exact shades can vary...especially so for iridescent colours where they can even look different on the same animal, depending on the light. It would probably benefit from being displayed in a well-lit spot, but why wouldn't you want to do that for something as cool as this?
The set is totally awsome but is always shocking for me how amateur these Lego designs interviews are and how lack of passion from the designers usually is shows… anyway just my opinion the set is great anyway…
That's a pretty-looking bird! Love these presentation videos, so I hope the designers will continue to make these!

I love this so much ❤
Googled the bird, I don’t think the colors are dark at all. The brighter variant seems to be the outlier
Wow you’ve known about this for months! 😀
Because it's the actual colour of the real bird or very close to!!!

hope they at least give the original ideas creator a free one
