Scientists are forecasting a rise in coronavirus cases throughout May as a new set of variants emerges, according to disease researcher Eric Topol. The variants, known as “FLiRT,” are distinguished by mutations in the disease’s spike proteins. These proteins help viruses attach to surfaces and are one of the factors behind the infectious nature of COVID-19.

Covid never went away. Cases just dropped over time due to measures taken and the vaccine. When cases drop to a certain point it is downgraded from a pandemic. It's here to stay, like the flu is because some humans have the IQ of a brick and decided to ignore the measures mentioned to eradicate the virus by preventing it from spreading, which means the disease would run its course before being able to infect another person.
They always report when there are new strains. Covid is worse than the flu. The potential for severe illness and death is higher. I had covid in Jan of 2022, only because the 5 other idiots I lived with refused to follow restrictive guidelines and got sick one at a time. I got sick last. I actively tried to avoid getting it from them, but it was impossible since they were inconsiderate and careless about it. The first one to get sick didn't even tell me they were sick until I noticed them coughing and sounding sick. This was 2 days after they started feeling sick.
Luckily I had a mild case. They all had it worse then me, and one of them had it really severe and almost died from it.

I think I got this variant of covid cuz for a couple weeks now, I’ve just been so so so exhausted and tired every day, had some high fever like heat around my body right several times before I went to bed, some light headaches and there’s just been a little chest pain which affected the way I breathe. Uh oh
