Can't wait to see all the Christmas decorations down there at the San Diego 3-Railers at Balboa Park Train Museum..........it is the best when they put all the decorations out on the O gauge layout.
Richard, you are the first Model Train Personality to respond to me. I want to say you put a big smile on this old man's face. It doesn't matter whether the Bonnet was yellow or the War Bonnet original to Santa Fe. It was a great flashback to a time when we lived in a kinder more gentle Nation. Thank you so much. John
Hey Rich, I rode on the El Capitan train going from Chicago to Los Angeles when I was 12 years old. I am 77 years old now, and did not know the engines were not the regular War Bonnet paint scheme. I guess we learn something new every day. That was a really great trip that I will never forget. Your layout is beautiful!
Wow, what great memories! This "Yellow Bonnet" F-7 set would not be accurate for the "El Capitan" or "Super Chief". The Hi Level cars are accurate for the El Cap, but the Yellow Bonnets would be in the Texas area for the "Texas Chief". In the model train world, we make up trains that are often not accurate. For example, I wanted to run my Yellow F-7 set with the Hi Level cars as I have not done it in a long time. Thanks for sharing your story.
Thank you for watching! I don't make money of of this, my only hope to to spread the joy of operating model trains and growing the hobby. If it wasn't for people like you, I could not do this... So "Thank You"
It's in San Diego CA. The layout is one of 6 museum clubs. The main club is San Diego Model Railroad Museum. The club I belong to is the San Diego 3-Railers. The Museum is located in Balboa Park, San Diego to be more specific.
Thank you for the complement. It's a club. I am a member of the San Diego 3-Railers which is part of the San Diego Model Railroad Museum in Balboa Park, San Diego, CA
