    I came for the DIY septic juice and stayed for the wireless internet. 😜
    PLEASE, keep us informed about your whole experience with this internet setup. I'd be all-in for adding outdoor antennas to get great performance and rock solid reliability.
    I'm like you, tight as the bark on a tree. 😀BUT when I do spend my money, I want quality for my dollars.
    I'm a Spectrum hostage right now. But I'm looking for a way to tunnel out or go over the wall.
    We're not exactly rural, but far enough away from the city, where my internet options are limited.

      I completely understand we were in the same boat for years now spectrum's the only game in town until we found connecten we all know wireless carriers get good or bad good or bad in different areas over time the ability to change networks is what led us to them. That said I've got a lot more to come and there's nothing wrong with being frugal. 😂

      The way I look at my "cheapness", is that it allows me the freedom to splurge whenever I want.

    I hate to say it, but I am in rural eastern Canada and the very only thing that works out there is Starlink. And it it is a tank and it is lightning fast without any connection losses...

    • @thefrugalhomestead7873
      @thefrugalhomestead7873  7 месяцев назад +1

      That may be true in some areas but with an equipment cost of $600 here in the US not sure what it is in Canada and a service charge monthly of $150 to $250 for the mobility package there is a huge price difference here. And with their mobility service costing $250 to be able to move it I think people in rural or van life for RV live that are traveling to rural areas This is a good option.
      The biggest problem I see was starlink is half the time the website puts you on a waiting list and the other half the time it completes the order.
      I have absolutely no doubt that there's plenty of places in Canada that you have to have starlink cuz it's the only option

    • @gernotfrohlich6978
      @gernotfrohlich6978 7 месяцев назад

      @@thefrugalhomestead7873 I absolutely got your point. They charge for a refurbed starlink basic version (not the free movement option) 250 CAD hardware and 140 CAD monthly (free movement 170CAD) for 160Mbit up and down unlimited ( I had times I got 270Mbit down - amazing). I ordered online and delivery was 5 days later. Plugged it in - downloaded the app - done. works perfectly ever since. The moment I got other options, I will switch cuz I am no fan of transhumanists :P

    Have you tried Starlink Satellite Internet? In rural Tennessee I consistently get 280+ unlimited only $120 monthly

    • @thefrugalhomestead7873
      @thefrugalhomestead7873  7 месяцев назад

      That's true it's just a little harder to pick up and take with you. And I'm not sure how much it is for new customers now cuz there was just a price hike. For stationary though that's pretty much the best option. 👍

      Can't guarantee any speed as it depends on what towers are around. But if you can't get cable or fiber this is a much more cost effective solution than starlink and you get the benefit of whichever tower is fastest is what it will connect to. And considering starlink just doubled its mobile unit cost and is up in its equipment prices I'm glad I chose this route

    So is this like all the other 3rd party resellers or does this company have contracts with the big 3 to resell the service???

    • @thefrugalhomestead7873
      @thefrugalhomestead7873  28 дней назад

      They have a contract with all three currently I don't know of any other service that has all three in one sim. You can request to be locked to one but it auto connects to the fastest one which is excellent if you have multiple towers from different providers in your area. This literally makes it different from every other service that I have ever seen.

    I checked the link. Is this totally wireless or do you have to hook up to a laptop, etc?
    I know someone that lives very rural in Alabama. You must have verizon. T-Mobile might work, poorly, if you walk around outside. I think at& t is the same.
    Right now he uses Visible (Verizon network). Phone providing hot spot data for laptop, tv, etc. Unlimited for $25 a month.
    How can this be better?

    • @thefrugalhomestead7873
      @thefrugalhomestead7873  7 месяцев назад

      Yes this is totally wireless. Don't eat anything hooked up to it other than power
      This is better than visible because you can hook it to any of the three networks you can take it with you and if you don't have good Verizon service you can just hit them up with an email and they'll change you to whatever one of the three big providers you want .

    • @thefrugalhomestead7873
      @thefrugalhomestead7873  7 месяцев назад

      It also should be mentioned that the hotspot on visible is limited to three to five megabits per second. This has no limits on speed as you could see in the video I was averaging anywhere from 40 on T-Mobile and Verizon to well over 150 mbps on AT&t.

    • @jeanariley7759
      @jeanariley7759 7 месяцев назад

      @@thefrugalhomestead7873 got it. I was pretty clear on what you were saying. He's retired and not in need of anything crazy or you know high-speed he just wants reliable service. So far visible has worked out pretty well for him except for on a couple of occasions and that had to do once with phone service not being able to get a text message in or out and then once were the internet was out and that really posed a problem for him.
      The issue is it doesn't matter that he has the availability of the other networks on this device they don't work there. I had service on all three networks the last time I visited there and none of them worked but Verizon. Zero signal. He doesn't travel, etc. retired.
      I was reading on the website and I just could not find where it said anything about possibly amplifying a signal or being able to pluck it out way out there in the sticks because everybody out there will tell you if you don't have Verizon you're just SOL. I don't even know if starlink works out there or it's available and initial cost and monthly cost is too expensive for him. 😕

      It is on the Verizon prepaid servers now so much better than it was back when I made this video when they were on the cloud servers. I find that the ping time are generally on par with spectrum cable Internet at my work. Obviously if you're closer to a window you're going to get a better result. Direct tethering to your game system would obviously give you the best internet.
      I know many people are getting rid of their internet to save money by just having visible.

  • @plants4thewin

    I dont like that you have to reach out and ask them to switch you. Ill wait until they come out with the feature where you can just do it yourself.

    • @thefrugalhomestead7873
      @thefrugalhomestead7873  2 месяца назад

      That is only for if you want just one service. It will automatically switch between the providers to the fastest speed at the time of use or you can unplug it to manually do that. This allows you the fastest speed at the point of use. But yes if you want to wait for the feature to manually switch providers because you want to lock on to only one then you can wait but they are almost instantaneous during the day of doing it and answering emails

      T-Mobile is acquiring US Cellular in a $4.4 billion deal that includes wireless operations, customers, stores, and around 30% of spectrum assets. The deal was announced in May 2024 and is expected to close in mid-2025. US Cellular
