As someone who took an Amtrak on a ~3 hour ride, it's actually pretty nice, and there were no delays, however I still very much laughed hard at this

I'll never forget the time I was nearly involved in one of these: in 2003 I was riding Amtrak's California Zephyr and it passed a signal at danger, coming maybe a locomotive length from hitting a westbound Union Pacific freight.

I remember back in 2015 I rode on Amtrak for the first time and I didn't realize how bad it was until the Train hit 3 cars, got stuck in a 90 mph storm, had a criminal on board forcing us to stop, had bugs, and the bathroom conditions were terrible💀

“…with a full load of soot in the engine…” The P42 will always be one of my faves, as the only long distance train rides I ever too was behind a pair of them. (And yes, these had a little *Soot* now and then, meaning they were proper locomotives!)
