I saw this a couple months ago and decided to do myself. It works great. I am here in Texas and decided to do for my fall winter garden of lettuces, etc. It creates a tropical effect inside and the plants love it. Plants grow faster and bigger. Glad to have seen this video.

= @@ChristopherBrandsdal = My original language is English and I am impressed with your use of English.. I put a question in your other video about this construction. . . . Take a look at that.
Here, I recommend to staple bare wires about 1/4 inch apart, , around the outside of the top board of the raised bed, and attach to a battery or step down transformer from ac voltage.... This will keep slugs and other night crawlers out of any raised beds.. . Because the wires do not touch, they will not use any electricity...put in a fuse in case the wires are ever crossed for any reason, , like carrying a board and the board rubs against a wire , shorting it.
Also may need to just keep the weeds from growing over the outsides of the raised beds.
-Teach the children how to put the wires in, and let them do it and sort of maintain it. .. That may be something that would interest them... Especially if they decide to transform the voltage up to a couple thousand volts and forget to tell you !!
      -
At this time, most of the world is in shutdown, and I need to build one of these real fast.

I've always been jealous of Places a little warmer than we are here (in the Pacific Northwest of Washington State) such as Napa Valley California...where it seems anything will grow beautifully. We on the other hand live in a cool maritime climate...where like you, peppers Definitely DON'T grow without a little help. We get GREAT Rhubarb though. I'm going to give your hoop-house a try. Christopher: Two things I would do. 1. Slip an aluminized Mylar sheet ( space blanket) between the builders plastic and hoops on the back to reflect the low angle sun back on the plants. 2. Transplant the peppers from the house to the back of the bed between the others. Hurricane Maria may move some warm air your way in October. This will lengthen your season. You could also place some plastic bottles painted black across the back to pick up some heat during the day and releasing it at night.Bert

Remember: He's growing in Norway...warm roots are hard to achieve with Scandinavian weather...a hoophouse and a greenhouse are almost a necessity to grow quality produce. If growing outside...once again warm roots are necessary...laying black 6 mil plastic down around plant rows, even in raised beds is a great way to achieve good produce for Scandinavian climates. i was thinking same. only thing i can think he meant was to artificially extend the day length with lights, keeping them in the vegetative growth stage. found this the answer may be keeping them cool: ''Because peppers are day-neutral plants, their flowering ability is not determined by more or less artificial or natural light. Fruiting plants such as peppers, however, require at least five hours of direct sunlight daily but grow best with eight to 12 hours of direct sunlight daily. Temperature affects indoor plant growth, too. Peppers are flowering plants and require a warm temperature to set fruit. The ideal daytime temperature for fruiting vegetables, such as peppers, is about 80 degrees Fahrenheit, and the nighttime temperature can range from 60 and 70 F. The blossom may drop from pepper plants that are exposed to a temperature below 60 F at night or above 90 F during the day.''

Thanks for the update, Christopher! Interesting to see what a difference such a simple structure can make :-) Will you use the bed for growing some winter salads, too? Your carrots look great - do you not have problems with carrot fly? It is nr.1 problem in growing carrots here. I tried growing carrots in a double raised bed this year to avoid it (carrot fly is supposed to fly close to the ground) and it helped some but not 100 %. I'm thinking of trying a triple raised bed next year :-) And about language education: my husband is Dutch and I am Czech and our children are bilingual. When they were little, we used to talk in English when we wanted to discuss something without them understanding. Until they told us we needn’t bother anymore - they could understand. It proved to be a great way to stimulate their learning 😊 We still have Norwegian in our back pocket but I think it wouldn't take them long to learn it either - it's so similar to Dutch..

    Hi Chris,
Great work mate the green house looks awesome. I watched the how to video very helpful. It’s autumn in Australia should I set something similar to help my fruit and veg from frost?

What pants are you wearing in this video? I am looking for good work pants that can take some damage.

I think you should grow aubergines in the hoop house. Would be interesting to see.

I was thinking about that, but I think I will have those in the new greenhouse.

Hei, artige innslag. Hvor holder du til? Har du prøvd hydroponisk til chilliene dine?

If you keep the plant in the green house how will the bug go in and help pollinate the flower to turn into fruit?

smileandlaughs you just need to go in and shake the plant after you see the blooms. Shake them gently whenever you think about it. No stressing about it.

Where are you located at? Looks like a great garden. Huge carrots and I noticed your tall onions as well. Peppers are nice in hoop house.

Hi, Mark! I'm located in the mountain region in the southern part of Norway. I harvested most of my onions and potatoes in the previous video and I was very happy with the result. :-)

How does it stand up to heavy winds? I live in at the top of a hill and get strong winds. Thank you!

Hello Christopher, just stumbled into your channel , liked it and subscribed. Your carrots are amazing. Did you use any protection against carrot fly? What awesome view from the garden, with all those mountains in the backdrop! Which part of the world is that?

Hi, Elie! Welcome to the family. :-) This is the mountains of Norway. Not a single problem with the carrots. Just planted seeds in good quality soil, and let them do their thing.
