Early Signs Of An Alcoholic

Social drinking, that’s all I thought it was! I never set out to be an alcoholic and didn’t realise or accept that I had become one, until a great deal of damage and emotional pain cornered me into acknowledging defeat. From day one, issues associated with alcohol were always written off to other causes other than drinking. I just couldn’t see beyond the illusion, that alcohol was enjoyable and was my answer to everything. On the contrary, it was my over-indulgence that generated all my problems, especially when craving kicked in, dictating it became a necessity. Denial also guaranteed a reluctance to rid myself of a distorted belief, that alcoholism was the misfortune of social misfits, down-and-outs or those who had given up on life. I just couldn’t accept , it might happen to me, a professional and double graduate of the University of Wales! The fact is of course, it can happen to anyone, if you drink!
