Haha the golf is good mate. The bonnet has to go in for paint as something blew on it in winter. Maybe when I getbthat sorted I will knock something up. Take care Bud.
That looks class Dave. Great job. Dont know much about cedar, does thag expend? Looks amazing view from the house. You must be so chuffed. Whats next? 😅 Fish has grown, and on video we cant appreciate their real size but you can tell with they have grown. Amazing.
Next is to get a door on the building. Decided what I plan to do with it lol. Getbthe garden levelled and grass down. Then the finishing touches. Before starting on the raised decking g area where my old pond is 🤣
The ponds looking great and definitely a bit different from all the rendered ponds we see on youtube . I fit western red cedar on a regular basis and it really needs a nice air gap behind to aid even expansion front and back ,usually achieved with a counter batten behind the horizontals . You may get some cupping in the boards but the main issue i see is the bottom batten being on or very close to the deck with the bottom of the cedar at the same height . That will hold water keeping the bottom of the boards wet and making them discolour very quickly and even rot out . This is why there is always a gap at the bottom of ceder builds to avoid capillary action and even rain splashes . In this case to achive the look , I'd probably have stopped the cladding 25-50mm up from the deck and used a heavily oiled (both sides ) sacrificial base board with a 10mm gap under chamfered on top to shed rain water . Hate to put a downer on the final touches but could be put right before it really costs you to replace it all down the line
Thanks Gary, the two bottom drains in the pond are aerated. They have a 4 inch waste line pulling from the pond and a 1 inch air line feeding to the drain with an air diffuser on top. If you google spindrifter bottom drains that's what I used.
As an ex chippy mate I like the Red cedar real nice and I love the grey it turns to as it get's older nice to see a video from you It all looks cracking
