I see Pageau having a similar influence to Jung on these topics for generations to come. Jung provided me the bridge from atheistic materialism to deism, and Pageau gave me the key that unlocked Christ within a deistic framework, and my subsequent conversion to Christianity. I grew up catholic but was poorly catechized, never understood the Bible stories. Jordan Peterson and his psychological significance of the Bible series, opened up my mind to a totally new rational perspective to the scriptures. I finally began to connect the dots and see the philosophical/psychological significance. It finally made sense to me, I got back into my Bible and read away. Years later I’m back in the church and studying the word as a full blown believer. God changed everything.

C.S. Lewis had the same struggle. As an intellectual, he understood the part mythology plays in society and culture. He saw the value of the 'Christ myth' as much as the value of any other pagan myth where a god could become a man. Or stories of self-sacrifice as the greatest story arc. When he debated this issue with his friend J.R.R. Tolkein, Tolkein said, "of course, it's a myth, only this one happens to be true." I would strongly recommend Peterson read both Lewis and Tolkein, if he hasn't already.

Like so many I have a deep respect for LOTR and Tolkien. I just can’t, for the life of me, get my head around why God would challenge and expect us to make such a giant leap in faith considering there are so many reasonable, humble possible objections. Given what’s claimed to be at stake is of the highest importance, the eternal salvation of all of us.

Every part of his life and story and teaching of what will come to pass during his second coming perfectly aligns with the foretelling of the prophets of the messiah. There is no departure or rejection from what has been taught throughout all of the Old Testament, only an affirming and transformative message.

@@rikkikeen1859 Both Lewis and Tolkein were highly intelligent Oxford professors and both knew and understood myths and how they worked in culture and languages. When it came to Tolkien having this conversation with Lewis, this was God setting the scene to allow it to happen. Sometimes He does the Road to Damascus scenario on people, sometimes just introducing someone to the right person can be enough to convert them and sometimes leaving a key relic like the Shroud of Turin behind is enough to convince someone.

100%. Believe this thread of the scriptures you just hit on was exactly what Jesus showed the two on the road to Emmaus that got them to see and believe. Another nugget that helps fully understand what you are talking about is knowing the two different words for "man" in Hebrew. ('Ish" and "Adam"). If anyone were to word search the scriptures online for all the instances where the word "Ish" is used for "man" instead of "Adam", and learn and understand the difference between the two.....they would see the Old Testament a bit more clearly than they did before.

Thank God I was already a Christian when I visited Athens a few years ago. When I climbed up the Parthenon I knew that only the beautiful simplicity of the Gospel could turn the hearts of the people who built such a marvelous buildings, to Christ.
I also visited Toronto, New York, and Chicago. The opposite but similar thing is happening. The culture that built the modern buildings was established upon the common belief that God is Good and patient and most of all Loving. If we don't return to the same naive simplicity of the Gospel and stop being selfish, the future generations are probably going to marvel at the remains of Brooklyn Bridge.

Yes, Jordan is truly struggling to try to make sense of the whole thing! It’s interesting to watch him.
What’s interesting to me also is this is a spiritual battle for him.
He’s using his intellect. I would say 100%. He needs to back off a little and just let go and let God enter his heart.
He has not done that 100% yet. I think when he realizes he’s getting nowhere with his brain alone he will come to the realization that he needs a higher power God to step in.
He’s in a battle and it’s gonna take longer because he’s fighting it.

I'm not sure if i've ever seen someone ask Jordan Peterson this, but I wonder if he has earnestly prayed "Jesus I want to believe in you, please come into my life" And also, I've heard him before say something to the effect of "that it would be terrifying it if were true" Now that doesn't necessarily mean that someone doesn't want Jesus to be real, but I think that could be something worth exploring further.

    • @riner60341

"Well the same way that you *believe* that William the Conqueror was a real person who fought in the Battle of Hastings, have you told Jesus that you want to believe who he says he is, God incarnate, the second person of the Trinity, our creator, the resurrected savior and redeemer, and the only means of salvation for sinners.

If you want to have a discussion on Logos, E. Michael Jones is your man. He expounds on it constantly, and wrote a book called Logos Is Rising: A History of Ultimate Reality. He's also a staunch Catholic and defender of the faith. I believe Logos is rising, which explains all the public conversions and other phenomena we've been seeing the past few years.

What initially drew me to Jorden Petersen was his intellectual honesty. IHe only will say something he believes to be true, AND that he has thoroughly examined. He has an incredible mind that is able to extrapolate very complex ideas and make unique and novel connections. He literally is studying his mind as he speaks, and his mind and wealth of knowledge is vast. Thus, I don't understand anyone who could believe he is grifter, they simply have never seen, as Jonathan has clarified, a person REALY grappling with truth UNDERSTANDS the gravity of it, and in their own right is committed to NOT LIE. Thus, he too is a man of integrity, which is also a rarity. He is DEFINITLY not too far from the kingdom.

    • @randywise5241

I think he believes in Christ. He just has not chosen an organized church because of the baggage that may come with it. Denomination stuff. The division within the body of the believers themselves. That is why many professing Christ will still end up in hell. Christs doctrine was not on organizing a religion, but a way of life that connects you with God. The only organizing should be in fellowship, the communion and works that please God. Faith in God not man but doing works, not to be saved, but because you are already saved.

I didnt even begin to realize the history of them both and even to this point here with how long its been going on... God works in mysterious ways lol. And even the fact hes on this channel now which is a channel i found early on about 2 years ago when i started taking christianity seriously... to think it all stemmed from me finding jordan peterson from all the controversy that arised in the trump era and to now here is such a full circle moment it amazes me lol

I’m sure Ruslan would love to but Jordan Peterson is world known. He has thousands of people wanting him on their pod many of them much more influential then Ruslan. Jordan going on Ruslan would change his channel forever and bring him eyes he never had access too. It’s defo not as simple as he should get Jordan cause I can assure he he’d love that as we all would. Maybe now that he had Jonathan on if Jonathan likes how it went he can plug Ruslan to JP which would increase his chances.

As soon as Jordan Peterson definitively says whether he believes in God, people will pigeonhole him. Then his critics can dismiss him as this or that, whichever side they take. I think he doesn't want anyone to assume what he thinks based on their conception of what he they think he believes.

I went from agnostic to Chrstian after a maybe-supernatural event that occured. Being very logical minded and being that my profession is finding and exploiting vulnerabilities in software, it has been a struggle for me to read the Bible. However, I told myself that if the Word is truth, then truth will be revealed, no matter how deep I dig. That didnt work out. The more I read, the more I came across dozens and dozens of problems with the Bible, before even getting to the New Testament. I started documenting all these things but after many pages, it got exhausting and seemingly pointless since it seemed as though it would be never ending. 3-5 years later, and I think I am going back to being agnostic. I am very sad, because I feel like I NEEDED Christianity to work out for me.
