You can use either one. Glue is Roxanne Glue Baste It.

Great video! what foot are you using and why use the HP plate? i have a janome mc6700p and i haven't used that plate yet.
HP is great for straight stitching. That’s why. I use 1/4” foot

Are the zippers metal or nylon? You go over them so easily on your sewing machine, I'd be fearful I'd break a needle.
