Wonderful collection of greats! Right when the Montreux was tilting towards pop soul jazz.
Music make me cry sometimes... if you love this song you're probably my friend ...
If there's actually a word to describe Rachelle Ferrell' s voice I would utilize it. But human language haven't created it so I will just say beyond amazing.
P
👍❤️❤️
Well put Felton..she is a force to be reckoned with.
Agreed!!!

❤ magnificent.(..Mr Bluesette Toot's Theileman 🙏🏾)thank you for this powerful performance Quincy🌟 Jones with the grand orchestra...the majestic voices of🌟 Mr George Benson 🌟 Ms Rachelle Ferrell ✨✨✨✨✨✌🏾👍🏽an amazing performance 🌺
The name is Jean 'Toots' Thielemans
This is in my top 10 vocal performances of all time. Rachelle is OUT of this world. The way she controls her soft and hard palate is unmatched, her phrasing is DEADLY.
Miss Noelle bonjour, je suis curieuse de connaître de connaître vos 9 autres performances 😉
On point
Seen her live at Yoshis in Oakland.. She dedicated a song to me and my wife during our 18 year wedding anniversary… We make 28 this year!! We hope to see her again
So beautiful. I have to fight back my tears every time I hear it.
Oh my God , thank you for the gift of music. ❤️❤️🙏🏽🙏🏽
Per non parlare poi della musicalità anche di George:
Immensi✨🎵✨
I watch this over and over and over and.............simply magic. Even Toots seems to be very impressed by Rachelle. they don't make em like this anymore.
Me too ✌🏾...this performance is in a class of It's own 🌟
George Benson is smooth on this but Rachelle is in another stratosphere! She gives me chills yo !
George is also one of the best guitar players on the whole damn planet
I agree but I saw he tried to play her that's why she ripped him in this duet
@@keshagaliardi753 He did? Explain that further for me..
I thought he was going to go fanboy on Rachelle when she started singing.
Yes indeedy Rachelle is absolutely an amazing vocalist gifted from God .
She is so underrated. She has a amazing voice. They did that song beautiful together.
TOOTS!!! I don’t believe you can play the harmonica any better than that! Very soulful! He was a great guitarist as well.
And Whistler too.
✌🏾 Mr "Bluesette" Toot's Theileman 🙏🏾
This is one of the finest performances ever. Period. Watch how they inspire each other. Can you imagine living day to day at that level of emotion???
Unbelievable. Who else can match her voice.
Yesssss! I've just discovered it! Ive loved George Benson all my life and would even be his Side Chick today, if He asked!😅😅😅😅

This song always makes me cry, but happy tears.
Amazing he wanted her to shine ......but wow she is so awesome and ran with it ...great jazz artist she is a hidden gem 💎
She SANGGGGGG that song....& the harmonica player......REAL TALENT
He s called Toots…the Jazz master on harmonica..see him play Giant Steps
even musicians look at her in awe.. what a gift, the highest instrument , one's voice, Her voice is a gift from God..glad she shares it with us....
may55 YESSSSSS!!!!!!!!
Play on Toots...what an angel for the heavens! Make music eternally! You are indeed missed!
So what! She was a brand new artist and was told she needed to be very different and she did it and mofos still complain. She's my favorite female vocalist of all time.
She is not new ..she is a diva and stood her ground
As a young to mid teenager every couple of months the phone would ring & the voice on the other end would say "hi, Ernie this is Toots! - Is your Daddy home"? --- Something that I never, ever forgot!
Hi ! :) You're the son of Bobby Hackett ?? (the trumpet player)
Edit : yes ! just found many informations about you (as a drummer too) and interview of you about your dad. i'm a jazz pianist (more from the 80's era (Chick Corea etc ... mainly Fusion), but i knew your dad's name (nothing more than that unfortunatly). thanks for visiting here !

Inside story
There no words to describe the beautiful voice of Rachael Ferrell her voice is a gift from the master above absolutely amazing.
George Benson was so underrated as a vocalist - he does an outstanding job with this Qunicy Jones song. Rachelle's octaves are excellent as always
Master vocalist, and even better on guitar.
Renaissance Jack I've loved this song for decades because of George Benson's vocals. It's so beautiful that I get emotional from the lyrics and his voice that it brings me to tears now just as it did when I was a teenager.
Written by Benard Ighner
Not a Quincy Jones song.he just directed this orchestra
@@quintenisliving7204 Ighner wrote the tune; this is Quicncy Jones orchestral masterful arrangement which was originally recorded with Benson as the only vocalist - a masterful composition and performance.

George Benson has some chops!! He's as smooth as 40yr old whisky.. & Rachelle GOD!! Heaven must be missing an angel!!
I want to know how come this lady never made it to the status she deserved!!
Okkkkaaayyy

... maybe she decided not to be a sellout ...
I said I wasn't going to respond to anymore youtube comments, but I just have to respond to this one. With all of the stuff coming out now about the sexual escapades happening in Hollywood and the music industry, maybe Ms. Ferrell decided she didn't want to play their reindeer games. There are so many talented musicians who just dropped off the map. Why?
Fear of undermining other artists
I agree that she probably decided to not to be a sell out. there is so much talent out there that we are unaware of due to main stream. Public radio in some states may touch on them. However, there is a need for local, or national independent stations to play the songs yester years. Stations not supported by iHeart, or SIRRIUS, etc. Time for new direction.
Rachelle’s whistle register notes at the very end is light years beyond what the human body is naturally capable of.
Masterpiece Ms. Rachel
2020 this is still one of the greatest duets I’ve seen. Rachelle Ferrell is on a different level okay
FACTS ☝
She is beyond anything in this world to describe her voice + talent. . She is the ultimate package. . Saw her in the 90's + have never gotten over her singing + angelic + out-of this stratospheric voice + style. . .God given talent. ..Listening
to this in August 2021, as if it where the same nite in the 90's, when I 1st saw her on stage . ..unforgettable ❤
Highly Highly Highly underrated she is. I've ALWAYS felt she has NEVER got her just due and that is soooooo sad.
AS SOON as I saw Rachelle Ferrell's name on this I IMMEDIATELY clicked on this and of course, she never disappoints. I love George's face while she was singing cuz he felt what she was bringing! She's a true vocal musician (and magician I might add!)
My! Oh my! Can they be young again, so we can have another lifetime of this... I can never get enough of Rachelle's vocals💁♂️
It's over anyone who thinks she is not the greatest ever needs their head examined ❤
Man Never know this performance existed glad iam found it
Toots Thielemans. Quel artiste... quelle finesse. Quel génie. RIP
Nils Patakira il avait une belle ÀME 😔🙏❤️🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
PARIS : 2020
That squeal at the end had everyone thinking including George, what is happening! In a wonderful way.. Love them both.
Her voice is a freakin instrument
Well hot damn...dont know how I missed this one all of these years. Whooo.
The most true and beautiful song ever , love every nuance of this song , but that harmonica solo is just the bomb . Saw george play in Manchester last night and wished I could have asked him about this song . Jeez he’s 80 and performance was still fantastic.Rachel vocals are unreal
Rachelle and George are great together. The band is everything !!!
George Benson, was great here , and Rachelle Ferrell, just stole the store on this one. Boss Lady.
Rochelle’s voice is transporting. Brings tears to your eyes, never heard better!!
Wow, I just came across this. I was there that night and witnessed Rachelle Ferrell for the first time. I will never forget her voice and, for that matter, the entire evening. Best years at Montreux when Quincy Jones headlined the festival.
Musicianship at it's very finest! Creativity meets the improvisation monster!
Damn, Rachelles voice put a tear in my eye.
Toots and Rachelle and George 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Killing it! Thank you, Q!!!
Lord have mercy, I thought Lisa Fischer's live performance of How Do I Ease The Pain was breathtaking but this lady right here is something else. There are no words worthy enough to praise her. What a voice, what a woman🤩
Lisa Fisher is amazing as well
I so humbled to be able to just listen to all this greatness
✌🏾❤️
I've been watching this video for many years and each time it's like I've never seen it before. This performance was outstanding.
How about some credit for the great jazz harmonica player in this video, Toots Thielemans (who, coincidentally, died just a few months after this was posted)!
Christopher I thought Stevie Wonder was the best harmonica player I've ever heard but I was wrong. This guy was terrific. He stole the performance from Rachel Ferrell.
the best was Toots and had / has always been Toots. (The tune composed by toots, Bluesette was my first jazz piano exam).
I agree. They individually and collectively put a unique spin on a classic tune.
Christopher Sad and rip for Toots thielemans incredible harmonica. I've always love the harmonica. This song is so true and incredibly deep and emotional. I cry everytime I hear this.
Christopher Thank Christopher got bringing this to our attention. So many ppl do not get the credit they deserve. He pays so much attention to Rachel who's so amazing and underrated.. incredible talent.
Mr. George Benson and Rachelle Ferrell are amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! singers, songwriters, and composers. They are both amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! in this videos.
She makes me sob with joy and appreciation of all the beauty in this world. Her voice and commitment to her craft. Pure ecstasy
Now this is what real musicians sound like. I love me some Rachelle Ferrell and George Benson was a great!
Please don‘t forget to mention and praise Belgian harmonica player Toots Thielemans, he was a legend!
It was already in the youtube infos, but you're right, i added his name in the title ! (bluesette was the tune i played for my first jazz piano exam)
Thomas Philipp Reiter 👍👍🏾👍🏿

Gone BUT Never Forgotten \o/
I swear, I'm about to shout up in here with those hummingbirds flying!!!! Elevated perfection!
This is what singing is about. Came to know Toots late in life but love what he did with that harmonica.
Beautiful music not much of this is still here.
Not much at all
When God walks before us, this is the sound he makes
Glory Be To God Almighty! Amen!
Glory be to the Mother Goddess from whom everything and everyone emerged.
How lucky to have met Rachelle in France! in 1992, a fantastic artist and very kind ... With her husband they even gave me their address and their phone! I was then accompanying the wonderful organist Rhoda Scott on drums ... Huge memory full of emotions! What a magnificent concert! Thank you so much !
Just discovered this treasure, out of this world.
George Benson, was great here , and Rachelle Ferrell. great Singer!
My question, Does it Get Any Better?
For ME, right now at this moment in life, I Think Not.
My heart beats even; right in sync with the melodic melody
of the music. My soul has been quieted and is at peace.
My mind, clear and relaxed. Creating an atmosphere of receptiveness.
Receptiveness to feel, understand and enjoy Everything about this
wonderful, wonderful musical GIFT of TRUTH. I am in the Moment, I
am Present, I am Grateful to Be Alive.
Thank You, Lord, for this experience. To Feel the Gift in the Moment.
