Fun fact: Manila is so densely populated that there’s about 13 people per square foot. That means in a room the size of my (and a lot of) bedroom(s), there would be 130 people living. This is probably because of how many apartment buildings there are. Density accounts for length and width but not height!

I've been to Manila, and people also work there in the morning from other provinces which makes traffic WORSE but it's not as bad as you would think

8:25 About the five way traffic light intersections, they do exist, not officially. We do have a five way traffic light intersection near my suburb that has three intersecting roads, they don’t really connect, but they are just close to each other. It’s really inefficient, I can tell.

It would be fun to see how you did compared to others on the leader board. There is a nice graph to show what percentile you made. Also, perhaps you could try doing the new expert mode, where you actually have to plan cities since you don't get to delete roads.

1:47 Drew... You need to start understanding at this point that if a road can go around another one way, the opposite is true. The red road could just go above the yellow house for only 2 tiles more.
There is a joke here in the Philippines mostly in the metro Manila area that the authorities build roads and then break them up by the next year and left them for years unrepair then they repair the road that lasts longer than a year then they will repeat it again
It comes out to be a corruption scheme now it's rare to see it

my wife is from malolos and half the journey is navigating manila

Probably one of the best decisions is to replace all jeepneys with buses to reduce vehicles on the road, since buses can take more passengers than jeepneys...

The nearest sm/mall here is like around 12 - 17 minutes away ( if you a vehicle that is). But sometimes due to the GODLY amount of traffic in manila. It would like take 20 minutes - 1h to get to the mall/sm.

Man, Manila really is the home of traffic.
For worse, Mandaluyong, being there, has EDSA, which causes more traffic and it's home for the MRT-3 as well.
It becomes super densely populated because manila or metro manila has become the center of economy ever since. Right from its colonization from spain, japan and america for about 380 years it becomes the center of trades. At those years, because it has the best access to the port, businesses grows there and even then people travels to manila for job opportunities. As years go by, the Philippines gain independence, and manila even grow its economy and more and more people go there to work.
Because of its city's wealth, the government becomes greedy for incomes that they didn't mind managing the city. Even public transpo is super bad. That's why it becomes so crowded, densely populated and super traffic.
i am a kid from the philippines and I have lived in Manila. The literal road has traffic and there's motorcycles almost everywhere I went to F2F kanina and I went at 6am and I arrived at 7:30am When theres F2F even the school is cramped, normal in Manila
