Best thing about the video is how accurate and specific the content is. You promise honest and unbiased opinion and we get that. All the info required before booking a hotel is provided in snippets and I think market needs that. Another detail is you are structured yet content flow feels natural. I think adding 10 to 20 sec about thing to do around and nearby the property would be a great addition
Amazing review Kevin. The one thing I would disagree with you on is that the property "is expensive". Comparatively, the Flagship properties of almost all the ultra-lux brands such as Aman, FS, St. Regis, Belmond, One & Only, Rosewood and so on are well above the $1000 mark even in low seasons. I think the Indian brands do a great job with their pricing generally.
Keep in mind when I say "it's expensive" it's a relative statement. In this case, it's expensive because they are charging the same as the Taj, Raffles, Oberoi but not offering a comparable experience. As for the others, I certainly would not consider all of those brands in the same category for comparison 😅 Thanks for watching 🩴
Lovely video as always! One detail, the branding in hindi is not their name but a phrase ‘Atithi devo bhav’ translating to ‘Guest is equivalent to God’
I actually weirdly enjoy that I was wrong about that haha. Kind of proves what I meant about everything not being in English. Thanks for letting me know!
There is really no bad choice between Oberoi, Taj & Leela in Udaipur. They are all quite possibly each brands best property arguably. After staying at all 3, Ive come to the conclusion that given 1 night in Udaipur, it would be at the Taj, 2 nights would be a split between Taj & Oberoi. 3 nights would be a split between all 3.
Another gem of a review that is just a feast for the eyes, this hotel is very photogenic 🤩 But apart from the beautiful cinematography, your interesting background information, observations mixed with little nuggets like: “ all the pillows were karate chopped” and “if you there’s not a pillow in that little bible of a book that gives you a good nights sleep, I suggest your bring your own hammock!”…😂 makes this video just 💎 Thank you Kevin for 30 minutes of brilliance!
Greetings from New Zealand!! Thank you for your Videos Kevin!! I really enjoy watching them and though travel is so expensive now, your videos always take me away!!! Keep up the great vids :-)
Thank you for showing this marvellous architecture and interior designs and furnishings so chique and elegantly made in each and every detail. An incredible combination of refined tastes in arts. So well chosen and this video needs to be seen again and again. Many thanks indeed .
Hi love the thorough review and your attention to detail, amongst the hotels I have stayed with which included 2 Leela’s I would say Leela Jaipur was a class apart. The butler service and the attention to detail was phenomenal. Would suggest you to please try and review it as and when you get time.
Yup, have stayed at the Jaipur property as well. You can check my Community feed where I preview all of the properties coming in this India series. Thanks for watching 🩴
Another super video Kevin. I know it was low season but the swimming pools in India don’t seem to get much use at all. Was the universal plug at the work desk provided by the hotel?
Kevin amazing job you are the only one out there making quality content well done! I request you to shoot in north east india and ladakh its very beautiful.
Beautiful hotel, shame about the food options. So many amazing hotels and hotel brands that I’ve never heard of before, until I started watching your channel. Thanks for sharing and your honest opinion 😊
A truly beautiful hotel like the ones you will see in a James Bond picture with a beautiful bond girl all dressed to the nines. I truly agree with the food service for the price per night as well as the inconsistencies of the dinner seatings and the live entertainment. In addition the bathroom setup looked weird but they make it up by the refined toiletries and stationery. Thanks again.
Great video. Actually… at the price I am paying to watch this video on beautiful 4k sitting in my lazyboy rocker… this hotel is absolutely stunning and well worth the cost! Speaking of lazyboy… I am coming to the opinion that just sitting in my lazyboy is more luxury than any hotel or airline seat that is not a lazyboy! No I am not a representative of them just giving a thought to resort luxury owners to put one or equivalent rocker in their rooms.
It does look like they ‘over-egged the pudding’ with so much stuff everywhere and too many eye catching details imho .. but the room with a view is stunning .. the subscriber who thought its quite a cheap rate presumably has a very happy accountant .. 😅.. It was another enjoyable tour Kevin .. thanks again.. 🙏.
Superb narration.kevin views on room and food reviews are honest and un biased unlike others ,the video cover every things right from you enter to exit minutely awesome camera shoot Thanks 💯💯💯⭐⭐⭐⭐👍🎇🎇

21:24 actually it isn't their brand name. It is written 'Atithi devo bhava' in sanskrit which translates as 'Guest is God' or guest should be treated as respectfully one treats gods. It might be their slogan though.
Kevin, your videos are full of exquisite visuals. Camera lingering over fine details and you capture landscapes like a painter. I love your videos for their sheer visual quality and very delicate commentary. Thank you so much for this great visual experience. Keep it up.
Having stayed here, I have few points: 1. Small correction: The hotel is accessible through land, for the guests. It is used primarily for logistics, and TukTuk Tours, you are free to use it. But, opt for the boat 😉 Lowlights: 1. The food. I simply did not enjoy it. The food wasn’t flavourful, and did not really represent the authentic Indian flavours. They need a overhaul. 2. The staff: As Leela Udaipur is one of the most famous properties, and is usually at capacity, the staff doesn’t care as much. I stayed here after I stayed at Oberoi, and it’s a significant difference in both. 3. The location is the reason behind Leela Udaipur’s fame. I won’t choose it above Taj Lake Palace and Oberoi Udaivilas ever. Highlights: 1. The grandeur: From sitting in the boat to reaching your room, you’ll be awestruck by the grandeur, beauty and uniqueness of the property. It’s just something else! 2. The Dinner Live Counters: I visited in a peak season, hence dinner was accompanied by Live Chaat Counters in the garden. They were complimentary, and a huge addition to the setting. Anybody and everybody enjoyed the Pani Puri, Bhelpuri, Chhole Tikki, Sev Puri, etc that were on offer. 3. The sunset: You get to see the best sunset from here. Loved it! 4. As I had 2 guests visiting me for Lunch and Dinner, and I had a full board package, I wasn’t charged for the guests. This is usually the case with most 5 Star properties in India. 5. The cultural event: In the evening, the folk dances that happen are definitely a highlight. Make sure to attend that and try some Indian moves.
From my personal experience, most if not all 5 star properties in India are opulent to the point of not being welcoming. All give that initial sensory overload as you mention, but then seem cold and distant after you passed through a few times. If you’re used to that or feel comfortable in this type of environment, great. But, again in my opinion, I didn’t like staying in a palace and felt uncomfortable. There are a number of properties like this in the Jodhpur -Jaipur Rajasthan area. And 1 last comment, did you notice the electrical cord across the floor? I encountered that at almost every hotel in Rajasthan😅
I'm going to have to break this one into chunks. (Typed before your 'lengthy' confession. 😂) Take a like on account; I trust you. Like that architecture. The management in these Induan hotels: local or international? I only want to hear from my hotel once before arrival. Some travel companies are really overdoing the comms, to the extent that I hardly bother reading their drivel. One day, I'll miss something important.
Depends on the brand, but for the 'big three' (Oberoi, Taj & Leela) generally it would be Indian nationals. Not sure if that is a rule per se, but I wouldn't expect anything else- especially at Taj and Oberoi.
Well, I'm the Flip Flop Traveller so I can assure you, there is no breakfast on earth I'd be going to in black tie haha. From my experience, high end Indian hotels may have dress 'suggestions' but for the sake of not embarrassing a guest, I would never expect them to be followed to the word. Thanks for watching 🩴
OK probably not the best dining experience. One of the comments on my very old school reports comes to mind, 'Could do Better'. Would that be fair? Something else quite different comes to mind, and that is the appearance and 'fragrance' of Lake Pichola's water. In 2018 it gained some notoriety when it emerged during filming of a popular UK television programme, that there was a significant amount of human sewage draining into the lake. The 'matter' was not lost on one of the cast who enjoyed daily open water swimming, until he discovered what he was swimming in. What was the weather like, especially the temperature while you were in Udaipur? High temperatures would undoubtedly make the situation more noticable (fragrant). IF it's been cleaned up in just five years, they must have achieved something miraculous.
‘Could do (a heck of a lot) better’… perhaps lol As for the lake, it was surprisingly clean with truly zero smells emitted from it. I would say by just about any one’s standards, it was clean. Was there when temperatures topped 112°.
I always marvel in each of your videos at how meticulous you are that your reflection is on in any shiny surface. Just when I thought I'd caught you... 03:32 😅
Leela is overpriced. I stayed in 2017 in low season for 3 nights. The cost was 700 usd for 3 nights with chauffer pick up and drop to udaipur airport + meals and half day city sightseeing. It was a very good value why leela handled their properties before Brookfield took over
if you dont mind can i know your age coz person of different ages have different perspectives not that i am judging yours as a bad one but just for knowledge
I would say it's consistently inconsistent haha. Two of the best meals I've ever had in India have been at Leelas... but then there are also moments like this one. Thanks for watching 🩴
There is nothing of Rajasthan in this whole property. Leela is all about itself and quite loud. They just impose their taste (architecture, decor, feel) onto any property and so it looks and feels the same South Indian place wherever you go. It is fine when you are in say Bangalore but for example here in Udaipur there barely anything of the local feel or culture. The food even looks sad in the video frames here. The whole thing looks and feels a lazy hospitality put in random Indian looking figurines and decor and mostly what the owner family has seen or known or like and just open multiple properties in multiple cities.

Can you please tell me about how much you paid your total amount of one day stay with breakfast, lunch, dinner ?
