    • @heyhoneyy
      @heyhoneyy 5 лет назад +8

      Shes done it very complicated. It's not that hard I promise . I have 10 pigs and 5 cages . First the fact that she uses 1 blanket is making it harder on her . Had she had individuals in each cage she could have lifted each up out and kept the mess contained in the blankets (dont shake out in cage) . Take blankets outside and shake off the mess , sweep anything clung to the fabric off so it doesnt get in your machine , wash and done . With adequate layers of absorbent fabric those urine stains wouldn't be there.
      Seeds are awful for pigs no treat sticks are needed they need hay veggies and pellets.
      Adult pigs need more space also . 2x3 is tight for multiple pigs , especially males. I suggest at LEAST a 2x4 . Think of how you'd feel if you were restricted to a small area all day every day.
      If you'd like more info go to theguineapigforum.co.uk or find me on Facebook.

    I'm reading all of these comments. I have guinea pigs myself. They have more then enough room! I have two, there cage is a the same size as the half point, maybe a bit bigger. They run freely and enjoy the amount of space they have. She gave them hay, she took it out before the video because trust me, its messy!!! She's a better pet owner than all of us! So enough hate and just realize how hard she works and how much money she spends to keep them happy! My god

      She's probably having issues with the one pig who was taken out due to the size of the cage . I'm not hating at all btw . I think she's great spreading awareness . I just dont agree with 3females in a 2x3 and 2 males in a 2x3 I'm sorry I never will , they need more than that . Aside from that and the seed sticks I'm great 🤷🏼‍♀️ hay too, they need lots of hay .

    Thank you for the advise!! I finally did get my C&C built and for the first week I did use bedding as you suggested, but I just love the idea of using fleece! So today I cleaned out the cage and put in some brand new fleece and he just loves it! And so far so good, there has only been one spot where he dug at the blanket, and I just binder clipped it to the towels I have underneath, and it's worked great so far! Still the first day, but he's already behaving better than I thought he would!! :)

    To clean my cage I use a special kind of cleaner called Whip-it. It's a high concentrate of citrus solutions, water, salt and veggie oils. It was like 20 bucks for 2 gallons and I only need one tablespoon in the spray bottle. It's perfectly healthy for any animal and has a sweet citrus smell =3

    Great video, love your pigs :) and to answer the questions below, the "white stuff" is chloroplast or corex. Cardboard would just get soggy. Chloroplast can get expensive depending on where you live so I recommend using a shower curtain. There are tutorials on how to make c&c cages with a shower curtain if you would like to make one. Also, piggiepigpigs has a tutorial on how to use chloroplast for a c&c cage base. Hope this helped answer your question. :P

      A 2x3 is not actually bigger than a midwest. Each grid is 14 inches. The length of a midwest is 47in and width is 27. The length of a 2x3 is 42in and the width is 28.

      @noursartcorner2215 6 лет назад

      Fay depends on the type of wood. Cedar and pine can make the guinea pigs very unwell and isn’t good bedding for them. However, Aspen wood shavings should be ok because it’s a non-aromatic hardwood.

    I have pond liner as a base. The cubes (wire tied) sit on top and the remaining liner (it's huge!) ive used as walls on three sides half way up the cubes. I don't need any on the front as the hay box keeps the hay from straying, i do get a little, but it's soon picked up. I've only used connectors on the front corners as they do get clogged with poop. Its much easier to just lift and vacuum once the fleece is out. A wipe with white vinegar on a damp cloth, dried with a towel and all fresh and clean ! 😊 Btw, their enclosure is sturdy enough and it works for me and my Furry Family of four. 🐹 How satisfying is it to see your Piggies happy and healthy in their clean house?
    VERY! 😊

    You can get it at most hardware stores or art supply stores. Art supply stores refer to it traditionally as coroplast, hardware stores will refer to it as corrugated plastic (or they'll have no idea what youre talking about) In Canada suburban (read larger and better equipped) Home Depot stores carry it, or Midoco Art Supply and Office Supply which is in Toronto.

      bubgum00 you're washing it though. it'll come out clean lol everything comes out clean. if your kid peed their bed you'd wash it in the washer. I guess it depends on where you're from too, I don't have a washing line or would have anywhere to put one. or have a hose for that matter.

      Eh, I've used cloth diapers and washed clothes/sheets/towels with way more gross stuff than some animal urine. I like using Nature's Miracle Laundry Boost or spot treating the really gross stuff because it's an enzymatic cleaner.

      bubgum00 this is why you use detergent to break down fecal matter and urine. I have cloth diapered and know the science behind it. Also, you should be cleaning your washing machine out periodically, and disinfecting.

    I would use two fleeces, one either side, altho I do use more than one per run, but you made that look a lot harder than it could have been.. Beautiful piggies :)

    These cages aren't big enough for three pigs, it's the recommend for one and the minimum for 2, the ramp in the girl's cage is far to steep and their isn't enough hay for guinea pigs. Personally this makes me distrust any information from this channel.

      Sparkly Queen same it makes me sick that people don't provide there piggies the things they need to live and are wasting money on beds and tunnels when they should have food before any of that

      Hayleigh Vaughn or maybe instead of purchasing 5 guinea pigs, stick with the amount that she could afford a cage of decent size for. A 4x3 would be big enough for her females

    It can be quite hard to get ALL the hair off, you can try sweeping it off with a stiff bristled brush or vacuuming the fleece. When I wash my fleece there tends to be a bit of hair still stuck on but once it has gone through the dryer almost all of it is gone, dryer sheets help too! :)

    My pigs are usually pretty good with not getting under the fleece. But you can still use regular bedding in a C&C cage! JUst be sure to build higher walls to prevent them from kicking it out :) Also congrats on your first piggy!!!

    This helped so much! My mom and I are convincing my dad to get a guinea pig :D I've decided to make a C&C cage because I feel like it is easier and better for piggies! One question... Where can you buy chloroplast?

  • @MissCavyQueen
    @MissCavyQueen  12 лет назад

    It isn't actually to bad for smell so long as it is swept out daily. However I find it can get a bit smelly by the end of the week, whereas sometimes paper based bedding can last almost 2 weeks. I enjoy the fleece better though because it is less messy :)

    I'm gonna clear a few things up as a proud piggie owner. Guinea pigs need space however with an upper section it doubles the space they have. Having said that I have a 2 meter by 3 meter run with a 3 meter by 1 meter hutch and a ramp. I have 2 rabbits and 1 guinea pig. Before anyone says that that is not enough room it is classed as a giant animal shed. I know from previous videos that these guinea pigs do get hay and the way she has the cages set up all though it is not natural it is the safer and cleaner to use fleece. In fact when I introduce a new rabbit (like I did a few months back) there was a small fight, I needed to separate them and therefore I used this style cage with fleece.

    wondering if some fleece materials are better than other at controlling the odor? We bought fleece at JoAnn recently, and it seems to start smelling much sooner than the blanket we originally used...

    Hi, I have watched all of your video's and i am a huge fan, u inspired me to get my two guinea pigs, gus and raulph. And they both sneeze every now and again but it happens mostly when other people are around could it be because they are nervous? Or should i take them to the vet to get checked out? Because when they are with me they don't sneeze.....

    I’m really sorry if this sounds like a very stupid question but I’m new to having guinea pigs so still learning as I want to do everything right. Does it matter if they go under the fleece as mine seem to like doing that. They don’t get stuck.
    I have them in a ferplast 120cm but I’ve just ordered a 5x2 C and C, can’t wait for it to come

    Mahalo (thanx) for your video demonstration, esp where you showed how you made the carpeted ramp - it was very informative and helpful to actually see it get done! I need to make one as well for my gp's. I had wondered about how to make the skid bumps on the ramp esp, since they have delicate feet and need that extra help up each step. May I ask you where you purchased your carpeting pieces from & approx cost? Also, your boys really enjoyed chewing on that "nut" (?) toy, it seemed; I've never seen one like that b4, where did u buy it & price pls? Mahalo nui loa (thanx so much) for your video & replying in advance. Have a great wed! Aloha, Amber 😉🤙🏻💋🌺🐽

    I love how the new way to set up cages is using a fleece. For the flooring. Must be much nicer than sawdust as well as cheaper and greener
    How did you train the pigs to use a litter tray. ?
    We had pigs years ago but I quite like idea of having one as an adult. Would one pig be happy on own ? My children had theirs with the rabbit and they used to sit in their run and play.
    I live I. A flat so not sure I have room for a huge cage set up plus I have a cat. Wondering if compatible

    So ive tryed fleece before i went home layed it out in the cage and it just puddled up and stained there fur, so i need to wash and dry it 4 times. then i need to put towels under the cage right?
    but how much is fleece / towels and where do you buy them?

    I got two boxes with 19 grid panels each at bed bath and beyond for 19.99 each and my fleece from Wal-Mart which was 2.50. I cut up some pieces to make hammocks and cuppies for my little ones and they love it. Switching from sawdust definitely seemed to be worth their health rather than my budget

    I appreciate all the work since we clean our pigs cage daily, but have you considered folding up the blankets to enclose poo to shake outside in a bin, so you can avoid vacuuming? We use pool towel under, then fleece blanket atop, replacing those daily, but it's a quick fold and dump, then storing the dirty linens in a plastic bin outside until we're ready to launder once a week. Our clean up seems much faster, but we don't have all the extra items to move, but thanks for the video.

  • @MissCavyQueen

    I don't use bulldog clips when the fleece is just on the bottom. Usually my pigs are pretty good at not going under it and if they do try I weigh down the fleece at the edges with some flat rocks :)
