- The Polish Army Choir sings THE ROAD TO THE ISLES and LOCH LOMOND (3:09), arranged and conducted by J Kolaczkowski. I believe this is the only RUclips offering for the Polish Army Choir. Not too bad. Enjoy!
Betrayed by everyone, they fought for their country never to see it free again, never return to their homes... honour to those soldiers of hope and to those who gave them shelter, long live Poland and Scotland
We (Britain) sent a force into France in 1939 that never got as far as the border of Belgium, and we went to war for Poland, yet we let that fine country be invaded by the Soviets and Germany, I feel ashamed
The Road To The Isles somehow brings some kind of emotional tightness in the throat.
One of the most stunning lyrics and music.
Songs of the Hebrides 👍👍👍
It's Hogmanay again and I can't help thinking back to Hogmanays of long ago with Polish friends.
This song brings tears to my eyes remembering all those young men and women who fought with the allies and never saw their families or country again. God bless them all.
This takes me back to Hogmanay in the 60s with Polish friends and the whisky and vodka flowing.
Never forgotten.Long live the poles. Your honour and respect.
In my personal opinion - still the best arranged "The road to the isles" for a male choir, that can be find on RUclips.
The Poles - the Bravest and the Best...
Thank you so much for posting this. My parents had it in their collection when I was about 10 years old, around 1955.
I think my father is singing with this choir!
Bought this yesterday in a big bunch of old records from Craigslist.
I play both tunes on the bagpipes.
I can remember hearing this on the radio during the wartime days. It was a great favourite then and wonderful to hear it again! Thanks to whoever posted it.
