SMCI was indeed just removed from the Nasdaq-100 (QQQ is a fund that tracks the N-100), which is only a list of the top 100 non-financial companies *listed* on the Nasdaq exchange. SMCI was NOT delisted from the Nasdaq exchange, it has simply been bumped down the list and is no longer in the top 100; very different things. For further reference, SMCI was only added to the Nasdaq-100 in July of this year, and the share price has only plummeted since then, so inclusion in the index does not guarantee stock price gains, and vice versa (the runup to 1200 was before SMCI was added to the N-100). I do believe this has led to FUD caused by the confusion.
This has been noted. The run up to those highs was off news of the S&P inclusion. This news to me is irrelevant because the market cap only recently fell below qualifications.
@@stocksbythenumbers Definitely agree. It's a nothing burger on its own, it's just the (understandable) confusion that has turned it into something noteable.
