  • Here's a video to share the man behind the magic! I've been working on Ventriloquism with Geoff Rams since Fall of 2018.
    It was fun putting this video together and seeing just how far I've come. I'm proud of my progress and I owe it all to my coach and mentor, Geoff.

      @@ModdyPuppets I will keep an eye out for when you post your new video. I am curious at what type of video it will be. I have tried to watch as much content as I can that you have posted and I really enjoy your work. I like the different video styles you have done and love the interaction you have with your characters. I’ve always enjoyed theatrical and performance styles like puppetry that have a more unique visual element and are different from traditional theater. Except for one time I’ve never enjoyed doing something in front of people. But recently I’ve been wanting to learn some theatrical skills just to have as part of my knowledge collection but maybe use in some creative setting in the future.

    Cool video I learned from a Paul Winchel DVD and from Jeff Dunham tip videos but am still always practicing. I've been doing it since 2020. Definitely takes years to master.

    I definitely agree with the idea of looking at the character and sort of audio visualize in your head what the character would sound like if you heard them speak whether a puppet or some other type of performing character. I do feel however there is also some instances where a voice inspires the creation of the character.

      Absolutely! In fact, my very first puppet was created because of playing around making voices 😃

      @@ModdyPuppets When working on a voice, have you ever had a voices you were trying out not seem right for the character that you were working on but kept it back in your head because it was something that could work for a future character? Do you only work on voices in ventriloquism style or have you tried voices just speaking regularly and then transition it to ventriloquism speaking?

  • @glenkamerling5333

    I’m curious if the car ride voice practice ever turned into a natural car ride conversion where the puppet just became just a passenger riding in the car with you.

    Was being a puppeteer something that you thought was something you wanted to do as an adult when you were growing up? What about ventriloquism made it become the puppeteer style you wanted to have your initial main focus to be?

    Did you encounter any challenges doing ventriloquism with different voices or did you feel there was no change in difficulty when doing a different vocal pitch?

    • @ModdyPuppets
      @ModdyPuppets  Год назад

      My biggest challenge has been the “Br-“ and “Pr-“ combination in words. It’s sometimes easier to do in Spanish than in English and occasionally if the character’s accent allows for it I’ll use the Spanish method to do it even when I’m speaking English

    Who else from the puppet world have you had some interaction with that you are still in touch with?

  • @glenkamerling5333
    @glenkamerling5333 Год назад

    In the 2017 little portion of the video I noticed you doing some mouth movements when doing the voice. Do you have a vocal process where you like create a voice speaking normally and then gradually work on being able to do it without moving your mouth? It would be interesting to watch either by stream or a longer video just showing off your process. I know it would be enjoyable for me to watch since I love watching the creative process of things. I’m also curious if you were given an tips for how to make your character seem more living for the times when it’s just you talking but the character can jump in or you’re setting up a discussion with the character.

      In 2017 I didnt know how to do ventriloquism 😅 I started working with Geoff at the end of 2018. I do sometimes move my lips while doing the character voices even now though for things such as podcasts or off camera voice over
