5:41 Michael Bond, who wrote Paddington Bear's story, said he was inspired by the sight of Jewish refugee children arriving from Europe and London children being evacuated to the countryside during World War 2. A lot of the children arrived with "Please look after this child" luggage tags on. Still to this day the Paddington brand makes it their mission to regularly donate to and promote charities looking after vulnerable children everywhere. Its one of the many reasons why Paddington is one of the most beloved British characters ever.
I never knew that! I was just a kid in Canada that loved it. I grew up with my Mom reading the books to me, and I watched the 70s stop-motion series. I STILL love that!
Paddington climbing the chimney with air sucking hand held vacuum cleaners is a parody of Tom Cruise scaling a very high building with high tech gloves in Mission Impossible 4!😆
I'm so glad you watched this!! Barely anybody reacts to Paddington, I highly recommend you watch the sequel because it's also a rlly good movie, and in my opinion is better than the first.
paddington bear is a british institution i still remember as a child allmost 50 years ago reading paddington books and then watching his TV series later... and yum yum marmalade sandwitch....
When Paddington was first written people in Britain had real memories of the Jewish refugees saved on the Kindertransports just before WW2, and WW2 evacuees. The image of Paddington in a coat, hat and a handful of belongings evoked memories of that.
AWWWW! Paddington Bear! More people, not just react channels, need Paddington in their life. His voice, his manners, his nifty little hat and coat. There's nothing not to love about him.
Glad you liked it. Did you recognise Mrs Bird wo ho was Molly Weasley in the Harry Potter franchise? And the Shopkeeper, Mr Gruber who played Horace Slughorn? Aunt Lucy was vloiced by Imelda "Delores Umbridge" Staunton. *Spoiler alert* - the sequel has two more Hogwarts teaching alumni in it.
The original Paddington stories are classics, although the movie does a better job of making the human characters 3-D. Mr Brown and Judy are just as friendly as Mrs Brown from the start in the books, whereas here they both take time to warm up to Paddington. What is in keeping with the books is that nobody who meets Paddington is especially surprised to meet a bear in London, let alone a talking one.
Here’s a fun fact for you! When paddington raised his had to the gentleman drinking wine….that my friends is the creator of Paddington the bear we all know and love. ❤
The author of the books, sir michael bond, has a cameo in this movie. During the monatge of them driving through london, you can see him in a restaurant through the glass. He holds up his wine glass to paddington and paddinton lifts his hat to him
Be appreciative that you now have the teaching that was denied to you while you were in grade school. "saw" is past tense. Does not belong with the hypothetical "if". Hypothetical is same as "contrary to fact". Past tense is not used, but the subjunctive mood. "If they were to see a talking bear", or "were they to see a talking bear".
This really is a wonderful movie and so positive. I do love the bemusement at how casual people are to a talking bear in this world. Also to answer your question. Jam is made from a fruit or vegetable and uses the whole fruit pulp, peel, etc. Marmalade on the other hand has to use a citrus fruit (lemon, orange, lime) and only uses the juice and peel not the whole fruit in its preperation. As I understand it.
That scene by the end of the film where Paddington is falling in the pipe before being catched at the last moment still makes me cry, the sheer terror I felt at that moment was real
Everyone's going to say it, but you NEED to watch the sequel, it's even better than this one, and this film was already great. Also, marmalade is basically just jam, except it's made using only oranges.
As a 56 year old, I fondly remember watching the original Paddington TV show, which was shown on BBC 1, here in the UK back in the mid 1970's. In that show Paddington was the only animated 3 dimensional character. The others, including all backdrops, were 2 dimensional. The show ran from 1975-1980. It's not necessarily something to react to, but I do recommend you watch an episode just to see what it's like. All the very best 👍.
Paddington is great and, seriously, Paddington 2 is one of the greatest films ever made. It's a work of art and a huge amount of perfect fun and honest emotion. It's impossible to dislike.
VKunia, I still can’t wait for your reactions to more of Breaking Bad, I hope you would consider watching Better Call Saul (after Breaking Bad), Game Of Thrones (even with a divisive ending), Stranger Things, Oppenheimer, The Matrix, and The Queen’s Gambit at some point, and I also hope you would re-upload Inception as well
I am so glad you enjoy Paddington! Besides the sequel, I must recommend these other amazing underrated family films: Mr. Magorium‘s Wonder Emporium, Baby’s Day Out, The Amazing Panda Adventure, Alaska (1996), Monkey Trouble, Born To Be Wild (1995), Nanny McPhee and Nanny McPhee Returns. 🐻👨👩👧👦👵🇬🇧🤎💛💙❤️
I remember so many thinking this film looked awful all because they marketed it with the earwax scene. And not gonna lie, that set off a few red flags for me as well. But then it came out, and it was one of the most charming films to come out. And to think it premiered in January, which is normally the dumping ground for Hollywood's leftovers. My only real gripe is that I feel like this story did not need a villain. Paddington is just one of those series that really doesn't feel like it should have on, you know? But even she's a fun character, so it wasn't enough to ruin the film.
I grew up reading, watching and loving Winnie the Pooh but not Paddington. Watching this movie and the sequel as an adult and loving them made me wish I had :)
Something I find interesting that no one seems to comment on is the elements of this film taken from other movies (It’s likely that they’re pop culture references and not plagiarism and I find then mostly enjoyable). The dinner scene involving a potential boyfriend named “Tony” is a reference to the Incredibles, the Geographer’s Guild is a reference to the Explorer’s Society with Charles Muntz and the Crazy Lady Taxidermist Nicole Kidman is a reference to Chantelle DuBois from Madagascar 3.
I used to watch the tv show Paddington on PBS and it was a really good show but I haven't seen the movie version however until now I hope you like it Thanks V.👋🐻🇬🇧🇬🇧🐻👋
Not only did I read these as a kid, I was a REAL fan of the stop-motion show from the 70s (I guess most of you are too young to remember it) Watching it again, I forgot they were 5 minute episodes-I thought they were 30 minutes!

Paddington 2 is even better, it makes me cry every time ( and I have seen it around 8 times) 😊😊😊
Agreed. Paddington 2 is possibly the greatest children's film of all time. It's ranked very highly everywhere.
Absolutely! The second one is even better!
Bearly anybody :)
Paddington 2 is one of the best films ever made
@@Supernatpy you're silly (^ _ ^)
@@SupernatpyI see what you did there! 😂
It's not even close to the first one but it's still good
paddington bear is a british institution i still remember as a child allmost 50 years ago reading paddington books and then watching his TV series later... and yum yum marmalade sandwitch....
As much fun as Nicole Kidman had in this film, it is NOTHING compared to how much fun Hugh Grant had in the sequel
When Paddington was first written people in Britain had real memories of the Jewish refugees saved on the Kindertransports just before WW2, and WW2 evacuees. The image of Paddington in a coat, hat and a handful of belongings evoked memories of that.
Got to 4.49. Are you always so negative?
The man who plays Mr. Curry also played the Twelfth Doctor.
Peter capaldi is one of my favourite doctor who actors
"RrrrrRRRR?"
Paddington:(glare)"Mr.Brown...that is EXTREMELY rude..."
"This isn't Mr.Curry...this is Mr....BURRY." XD
"Who is it Henry?" "It's Mr. Curry doing a funny voice"
‘Humanoid bears. That’s what this movie’s about … I didn’t realise!’
Paddington 2 is just a perfect sequel.
Agreed. I read one reviewer who said their 6 year old child commented after seeing it in the cinema - "I forgot I existed".
AWWWW! Paddington Bear! More people, not just react channels, need Paddington in their life.

You forgot Michael gammon as uncle pastuzo. Also, who was the second one in the sequel. I recognized knuckles, but who was the other one?
@@averagenoahYep. In Paddington 2 Mad eye movie got a brand new eye grew out a beard and gained a new muggle job as a cook in a prison.
"There's no way that person's that powerful."
Never underestimate how strong a manual laborer is when the alternative is not getting paid.
Yesss, I love the Paddington movies! And frankly the second one is even better, it's like if Wes Anderson made a kids movie haha.
Wes Anderson has actually already made a kids’ film with Fantastic Mr Fox, so that comparison definitely seems apt
Marmalade is a jam made with the peel of citrus fruits boiled with sugar and water. The well-known version is made from bitter orange.
The original Paddington stories are classics, although the movie does a better job of making the human characters 3-D. Mr Brown and Judy are just as friendly as Mrs Brown from the start in the books, whereas here they both take time to warm up to Paddington.

To those of you in the comments Paddington 3 is coming. I can say this im american and i love watch these movies of this adorable bear. Its so cute.🥺
Paddington 3: confirmed January 2025.
Paddington is such a delightful character. I grew up watching the original animated shorts on the Nickelodeon network, back in the 80's.
Here’s a fun fact for you! When paddington raised his had to the gentleman drinking wine….that my friends is the creator of Paddington the bear we all know and love. ❤

You have got to watch Paddington two, literally made me cry like twice
You wait for padddington 2! Its even BETTER
The 12th Doctor complaining about the use of a telephone box :D
And now, Paddington 2, it's even better!
Us lot in london dont bat an eye even if there is a talking bear
Paddington is very good and very sweet but Paddington 2, is amazing. I am a 60 year old woman and it quickly became a top 10 movie for me instantly.
1:22 Wait... is that Gale??? 😯 Thought i recognized Tim's voice 😆
Marmalade is made by boiling citrus like oranges with sugar and has the fruit peel mixed in.
The suffixture "-ton" is the same as the word "town". Padding Town.
Be appreciative that you now have the teaching that was denied to you while you were in grade school.

Never thought I’d see the Doctor be an antagonist. Nardole as a cabbie makes sense though.

Muscular pain: Herbal liniment formula in the book Back to Eden.
Paddington was created by Jeremy Clarkson's (Top Gear/Grand Tour host) mom as a Christmas gift.
gotta watch that clip with PADDINGTON and queel elizabeth 2 so much fun
Paddington aims right for the heart, and he never misses! The third film is coming in late 2024, so it's going to be one of those perfect trilogies.
What kind of a surname is "Ddington", and what is Ma Ddington's first name?
10:34 Kayvan Novak. Funny guy. Plays a vampire in what we do in the shadows tv show.

*Watches one of the most over-the-top bloodfest hardcore gory movies ever*

I am glad you watched this. I like the condensed version. I don't think I could have watched the full movie but I did enjoy it.
If I recall the character was created when the book author found a teddy bear at Paddington Station wearing the blue coat and hat.

when britian invaded Afghanistan in the 1800's They took a grand piano, a cat called buttons & a parrot.
I love how ironic this film is to have two HP cast. Slughorn and Molly Weasley
There's a Paddinton 3 coming out next year which I'm really excited for!

The world needs more Paddington! 😊
Can't wait for Paddington 2. One of my favorite sequels.
Orange Marmalade on 2 Scrambled eggs on garlic buttered toast is a banger for breakfast.
I was obsessed with Paddington as a child my Mother even bought me the hat and coat and marmalade for my morning toast
In a world like Paddington or Geroge of the Jungle nobody dies; they just get to quote “really big boo boos”
You should see the old cartoons. I grew up on them and I still watch them to this day.
I'm not British but so far, I like the Paddington franchize.
If you like this one you'll love the 2nd one the daughter of the Exporter was played by Nicole kidman.
Paddington Fans Unite!!!!!! Haven’t even seen the video yet but am so happy you’re watching it :D

Paddington is a menace, J-Jonah Jameson will agree
I wanna say, as good as this movie is, Paddington 2 is even better than the first. The sequel is one of the best family films I’ve ever seen 🤩🤩
I’m glad that I watched this with you. This movie seems a lot better than I expected.
Now you need to watch Chicken Run (2000) for a good laugh. Cheers!
Oh boy, if wholesomeness was a drug, paddington would be Scarface lol
You said your going to watch Ahsoka show so do it now probably because show is one of the best shows I’ve watched. It’s also an A show
An excellent film. 2 is even better
Paddington 3 is coming
The apartment they live in is the exact same building and apartment rooms that I lived in as a child one year.

Hi Vkunia hope you are having an great and awesome weekend ❤
I love this movie and the sequel. Great movie
Watch “blue elephant” from Egypt
Paddington 2 is great, too!
