One amazing warlock would be in the fey pact. In Celtic (?) lore there is the vampiric fey known as the Baobahn Sith, which would be a part of the unseelie court. It's a fey that revels in undeath that often kills dancers to raise them in an eternal dance. So by all accounts, have your vampire overlord be fey, you have to admit the subclass abilities make sense for a vampire.
So there is a book called Grim Hollow: The Players Guide which has a really cool sangromancy school of magic and a tonne of subclasses based around it so I would really recommend it
That book is awesome! I have the book and there are SO MANY great subclasses in that book! Circle of Blood combo with the Sangromancer sounds like a good multi-class option.
I'm homebrewing a whole expanded spell lists readily available only for Blood Magic wizards. That's the thing I feel like is lacking from the Tal Dorei Reborn book. Blood and blood magic is very important in real life religion practices and witchcraft as well. It's the balance of life and death and it can be such a good flavour for fantasy settings
I played in an after school teacher only dnd game, set up so we were all from various cultures in ancient history ( I got greek) so I made a rogue/ Oath of open sea/ lore bard who was the champion of Zagreus who was looking for ancient knowledge and lore on what the gods are... long story short blood paladins are fun and flavourful especially when you look at rebirth and rebellious nature that the build offers
@@TheClericCorner it's was a good build for a Tank/front line healer, and offered great flavour with channel divinity like marine layer as the blood like mist rises from all the corpses or the open wounds or aura of liberation where any attempted grapples in this smokey veil blocking the grapples
These are baller character concepts! I didn't realize I liked hemocraft until I watched this video. I need to make a character for a brief 3-4 session adventure... might need to revisit this idea. Btw, did you learn about the blood eagle from Skyrim as I did?
Thank you!! I love blood magic, but unfortunately never did that arc when I played. Actually playing it as we speak. 😂 I actually learned it from the Vikings tv show
I've been working for over a year new on a homebrew blood magic sourcebook because the lack of blood magic in 5e sucks. But some of the subclasses included are the Bloodsmith Artificer, Path of Mutation Barbarian, Circle of Ichor Druid, Sanguine Knight Fighter, Way of the Open Vein Monk, Oath of Sacrifice Paladin, Shadowhunter Ranger, and Cruor Thief Rogue. Plus two alternate class features - Crimson Sorcery and Eldritch Hemocraft - For Sorcerer and Warlock respectively, that change the way they use their spells and class features.
I’m making a blood magic necromancer villan for our next campaign. Our next campaign is themed around ash vs the evil dead. One of the monsters he/she can summon is a blood hand that can grapple characters from any puddle of blood. It’s probably going to be a trap monster.
In relation to your ideas on healing spells and druidic spells, it was a common practice in the 17-18th centuries to have a doctor bring in a bird to peck at your wounds. This was believed to draw out bad blood. As well in keeping maggots out of your wounds. So perhaps a Blood Druid could summon a familiar and have them perform something similar in tandem with a blood healing spell.
My most recent character that had some blood magic thrown in was, surprise surprise, a hexblood. I went Circle of Blight Druid and the idea is that some hags moved in and began tainting the sacred land the druid was charged with. Being too weak to kick them out, she made a pact to have them remove the blight and move out by choice. However, the price enacted by the hags included them concentrating this blight and shoving it into the druid as both an experiment and a fun past time of spreading misery, resulting in the PC's gradual corruption from their current state as a hexblood into a full blown hag. The druid is now traveling with the part in hopes of finding a cure to her condition or, failing that, a place with little to no life to die so that the blight that leaves her won't corrupt another place of life and beauty. The campaign takes place in a harsh northern land, similar to Icewind Dale, so she's off to a good start on that back-up plan.
Wow, a video made just for me? So kind of you. Lol, but seriously good video, blood hunter is my favorite class but still doesn't fit all the edgy blood magic niches I wanna do
rogue inquisitive. smells the bad blood in lies and hears the quicken heart beat of liars. sense the pulse of their veins to know how to strike at the weak spots.
I'm actually getting to start a campaign in a week playing as a Circle of Spores/Swarmkeeper multiclass who is (unwillingly) fused with a swarm of vampiric nanobots, turning him into a dhampir, so this was well-timed!

Whoa, that's amazing!! Unfortunately didn't come across this in my research, but I'm so glad you mentioned it!

Well hell this year old video got me I'm subscribing. I really like the way he goes into these classes it pretty close to my style of things.
Really good video, thanks.
I think dnd already has all the bases covered mechanically and reflavouring what is currently written is great.
Thank you so much! Absolutely agree!!

i absolutely agree! So underrepresented in official stuff. I heard some good options reside in grim hollow or kobold press books though
I was hoping that the Blood Hunter would've been added in the Tal Dorei Reborn book and finally be published content in physical form.
You mentioning the blood eagle was a surprise for me well done on your research
Or I just watched enough episodes of "vikings" 😂 but no, thank you!

definitely peaked my interest and am now thinking of a whole lot of characters to create from all of this 👍👍
