- The Aiguille en Fete in Paris, France was incredible! My apologies to Élisabeth for misspelling her last name. It should be Evrard. Tons of vendors, lots of interesting fabrics and notions, but my absolute favorites were the exhibiting artists. I even got to interview two of them, Jeanne Chausson and Élisabeth Évrard-Piat who interpreted famous artist's work in imaginative and interesting ways.

After graduating from Parsons School of Design, I began my career in fashion design and freelanced both in New York City, as well as London. I designed hand knits for Elle Magazine and was the editor of the Hand Knit Page before hand knits fell out of fashion in the early 1990's and the page was discontinued. In 2008 I launched my jewelry design business, designing fine jewelry in 18 & 20 Kt Gold with gemstones that I hand select for each piece. Several awards and numerous write ups & interviews in all kinds of magazines and online zines, I rediscovered hand stitching and my life took another turn. I have been designing in some form since I sold my first felt embroidered xmas tree ornaments to a small shop in Northern California when I was 16 years old, and have never looked back. And while I've had detours along the way: had two children, worked at an advertising agency, got into acting in my early 20's, published some articles for various magazines and wrote for the Huffington Post for a few years, I have always come back to designing. It is my first love and remains so to this day.

Oh I'm so glad you enjoyed Brenda. ❤️
Oh mon dieu! How exciting. I live in southern France for part of the year. I (re)started my exploration of fibre arts since the last time we were there (thank you retirement!). I’m so looking forward to finding fibre arts exhibitions and combing through the small brocantes for my textile goodies. Thank you for filming this. Will be watching on repeat for weeks to come. Merci Madame.
Oh how wonderful Paige. I'm so pleased to hear. Yes, the expo was pretty fabulous and I was very lucky that it was going on exactly when I was there!! Talk about serendipitous ❤️. Enjoy France. I realized when I went to the artist's residency that it is a country I need to visit more often as I have some very good friends here and France is just so beautiful.
Oh my goodness thank you so much 💓
❤️
Thank you so much for sharing:) I am living vicariously through you !
Haha! I'm so glad!
Wow, wow, and wow again! It's hard to find words to describe the genius that guides these people to create those works of art. The patchwork project amazed me and I will have to watch that many times to really see everything. You were so fortunate to be in Paris when this occurred and thank you so much for sharing. It would have been a bit overwhelming for me but I sure would have like to have given it a try! Can't wait for you to get home and share your Paris experience.
Thank you Lynne. It was a wonderful show. Just wonderful.
Oh amazing ! I'll have some old spools please 🤔 thank you for sharing this wonderful experience with us Ariane 🤗🗼
weren't they wonderful!? Just loved them.
Thank you for filming and taking time out from your travels to edit the video for us. I will need to watch it a few more times to really take in techniques that I might want to use. I am sure we are all anxious to see how this and the rest of your trip inspires your work. I noticed that there wasn't anything that seemed to resemble what you are doing. Have fun!
Hi Victoria, so many wonderful artists doing really interesting work and everyone's work is very much their "own"! It was wonderful to see. ❤️
Oh my gosh, I LOVE this video. I will be watching it many times over. The inspiration I get from these artists is more than I can absorb in one viewing. I am sure you are having a great time. I have watched dozens of your videos and have learned so much. I do not comment much because my hands are usually busy with a needle and thread along with many scraps of fabric. But I do always click the Like button. I share a lot about you on my own youtube channel and find that many of my subscribers are now following you as well. I am going to link this video on my FB page so others can be inspired as well. Thank you for all you do. Enjoy the rest of your trip. Hugs and blessings to you
Oh Lizzi!! Thank you. You're so kind and thoughtful. This was one of those once in a lifetime, serendipitous events that I just couldn't pass up. Just incredible. I'm so glad you enjoyed as well.❤️
This is such a wander full video! Thank you Arian for sharing. I wish I could be there!
Thank you Ronny. It has just terrific.
Fabulous! That would make the whole trip worthwhile imo. Of course, my favorites were the bugs. Big industrial spools are being used in cross stitch to display projects. Your video gave me several ideas. Thanks.
Oh I'm so glad Ann. Yes, just wonderful.
Thanks so much for sharing. The art is so inspirational. 😍
I'm so glad you thought so! I did too.
O so enjoy watching your video, be safe ,Ariane, loved it♥️
Thank you so much Marlene. ❤️
This is so wonderful. I shared with my grandson who would like to get into fiber art.
How wonderful. I hope he enjoyed as well. Such amazing work.
Looking at the old spools ..emporiums have all that kind of thing ..brilliant place wow.
Right? Love those old spools...
@@ArianeZurcher212 I have oodles small ones from aliexpress. I must see if they have the big ones x
Oh, how fun!
Thx Sandra. ❤️
OHHHHH MYYYYYY GODDDDDDD 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 Thank you SO MUCH FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO!!!! THE PROJECTS!!! THE COLOURS!!! THE IDEA INSPIRATIONS!!! THE SHEER BEAUTY AND INVENTIVENESS OF THE STITCHING!!!! THE THREE DIMENSIONALITY!!! I have to watch this at least two more times to fully take it all in. I think the show title translates sort of to “a celebration of the needle” …. (Fwiw … dying seeing all those old wooden spools) …. Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhh …. So good ….
Right?!!!! I just had to purchase a little bag of old spools. There is nothing like that in the US, at least not that I know of. The whole thing was just amazing!!!
Thanks so much for sharing Ariane. I had to watch it twice (and probably many more times).
Wonderful eye candy!
Loved the faces, the weaving loom and the interview.
Not jealous any more. Just won a return trip to Dubai. Can you believe it?
I think I know what I am tacking onto the end of that prize :D
Oh how wonderful!! Congratulations!!! ❤️💕❤️
Wooow very very good ❤⚘
Thank you! ❤️
@@ArianeZurcher212 You're welcome
Whoa! If only we had these in America!
Yes, right!? So wonderful.
Thank you, Ariane, for giving us the opportunity to see some of this extraordinary experience. So much inspiration. So glad for you to have been in Paris at just the right time.
Yes, it was wonderfully serendipitous!!
Ooohhh look at all that art candy 🍭
Haha! Yes, exactly.
Thanks for giving us a peek at some of the textile pieces whether patchwork, fibre, embroidery or a mixture. Loved the butterflies and beetles/bugs. It makes me realise how long it's been since I visited the larger Shows here☹! I'd have liked to know the subject the squares were based on. So fun and quirky and clever. I've found in the past that amongst so much on display the suppliers have little choice of threads to purchase.
You can learn more about the show by going to their website, here: www.aiguille-en-fete.com/Expositions-Ateliers/Exposition-2022/Le-Projet-Patch-2022 ❤️
OH MY!!!!!!! that's a show that we don't see over here in the States. Amazing exhibit of such unusual fiber artists. And that linen piece. OF COURSE you couldn't resist it. And not knowing what you're going to do with it shouldn't be a deterrent to buying it. Leaving it behind would've been a HUGE mistake. Did you manage to take in the whole show??? Thank you sooooooo much for sharing it with us. It's such a joy to hear you having so much fun. How is your "large piece" coming along?? Blessings and continue to enjoy Paris. Stay safe.
Hi Alice, I was able to see everything at the exhibit. It was big and very, very crowded, but not impossibly large, so that was actually nice and very welcome. I have not worked on my large piece yet. I will once I'm at the residency. For now, I am just site seeing and being a tourist in Paris!
Just from the video that you took of this event, I could see that it was quite the place and crowded. I would imagine that people would be just starving for a good show with these past couple of years that we've all been through. So nice that you were able to see everything. It's a trip where you don't want to go home with regrets that you didn't see it all and wondering what you might've missed. I guess I missed the little detail that you weren't yet at the residency, although I was curious how you were able to "be a tourist" AND be AT the residency, but little ole moi is quite out of touch as to how "residency works", etc., etc., etc. lol lol lol. Well, now........how great is that?? Enjoy being a tourist to the nines while you have this glorious opportunity. KUDOS for you. This makes my heart sing. Blessings..........
Fantastique!
Merci! ❤️
Thanks for sharing your experience! Do we ever have any such textile events in the states? Certainly not in my area! Glad you’re enjoying yourself. 😃
I've never been to any of the big quilt shows, which is what I guess this was comparable to? I don't know! I can't imagine. This was really wonderful.
